    Hello,

seeing that Dell released a driver supporting 6300, I went and bought one to replace my 5100. Plugged it in, and it wasn't recognized. Fair enough, I went to reinstall the driver.. which immediatelly finished. Setup log said error discovering intel device, or something like that.

Problem is, the device is working fine as far as windows is concerned - it is detected, I can connect using windows networks screen. But ControlPoint Connection manager does not see it.

    What am I missing?

Do you need to use ContolPoint Connection Manager? Most users find it is bloatware which is best uninstalled.

In your case, if you need to use it, I suggest you uninstall / reinstall Connection Manager. Perhaps it only builds a database of network hardware upon installation.

I would like to use it. Without it, with current drivers, my wifi led keeps blinking on activity, which is annoying.. and it's a central way to disable/enable all devices..

And yes, I did try reinstalling it. I think the problem is that the driver pack for ControlPoint, which is supposed to support 6300 does not install..

You might have to use a different version of ControlPoint as the 6300 card is not available in the E6500.

Basically, find a system that is offered from the factory with that card and try to install that version of ControlPoint and the drivers for the wireless card. The E6410 has it available.

It is entirely possible that the E6500 does not support that card.

Strangely, E6410 doesn't even have CP Connection Manager listed in the downloads..

From my understanding dell is doing away with the connection manager. and the wifi light blinking is from intel they are the ones that set that driver up to do that. I actually like the wifi ligh blinking b/c it tells me when the wifi is being used.
