Did you download the video driver from dells website?

It's typically the safest bet for video drivers on laptops.

    Hi,

I am assuming your laptop has switchable graphics?
Perhaps you need to enable it at first.

Did you install the System Software package in the System Utilities category of the downloads. This contains various patches and fixes and the instructions say "Install this first". It's quite possible that without the system software package installed then Windows doesn't recognise the new hardware.

I have been considering this laptop, but I was confused when the only Nvidia driver I could find on Dell's site indicated it was for switchable graphics. The user manual for the 3400 also indicates there is a BIOS option for "Hybrid Graphics" that is set by default to "Enabled". Two things to try:
    1) Install the driver from the Dell site, or
    2) Disable the "Hybrid Graphics" option in BIOS and try installing Nvidia's driver again (assuming disabling the option hides the integrated graphics unit)

I am interested to know how this works out for you.

As a followup here is a link to the "switchable" driver that is the only Nvidia driver Dell offers for the 3400:

Also a link to the manual page for the BIOS setting:
