I recently purchased an m4600 and the first thing I did was reformat and reinstall Windows 7 so that I could get rid of unwanted extra software. Unfortunately, this left me without a way to manually minimum and maximum charging thresholds for the battery.

Does anyone know of the specific Dell software required to set battery charging thresholds? So far, I've tried installing Dell Control Point and Dell Feature Enhancement Pack, but neither program has been helpful.

I tried talking to Dell Chat Support and remote desktop, but they were not able to find a solution. If anyone has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it.

I recall there being a discussion about that. I don't think its available on the new Precisions if I remember correctly.

Ack, I hope that's not the case. I usually buy Lenovo laptops which have the Power Manager software, and I thought that setting battery thresholds was common to all laptop vendors. How do most Dell users manage their battery health? Are our only options to pull the battery and periodically discharge?

Oh, and thanks for the quick response Nano!

I can't answer that, haven't operated the laptop with battery health in mind.

I did a check on the internet and there seems to be no discussion about the M4600/M6600 having the ability to set thresholds, save this aforementioned short exchange on these forums.

Afaik, there is no Dell software comparable to Power Manager. As of the current generation I do not believe there is a way to set the battery charging thresholds.
