SSD Bios settings for trim and speed on m4400

I recently installed an new SSD drive in my M4400 machine and upgraded to Windows 7. I want to just make sure I have everything running correctly so thought I would ask here:

In bios under the Serial ATA tab there are several communication options : Hidden, SATA, AHCI, and IRRT

I am currently on IRRT but don't quite understand what each one is and how it could effect what I do. I am also concerned whether or not the trim command can make it out to my drive under different setting.

Anyway to check if trim is actually work on the drive level?

I do believe that TRIM won't fly with ATA mode, though the above post suggests it'll work with AHCI or IRRT. That being said, I'm not 100% sure of any of that, so someone do correct me if I'm wrong.

That give me a little bit of piece of mind, I also found if you run SiSoftware Sandra Lite you can get hardware information to also confirm that your drive its self supports TRIM, but that doesn't confirm it actually processes those.
