Bumping a thread more than once every 24 hours is a violation of forum rules.

That being said, swap out the screen from 1600x900 to 1920x1080. For a professional workstation especially, screen resolution is vitally important. The more, the better.

It would be helpful if you told us the main things you would be using the machine for.

As the others have stated, we need to know what you primarily do with your laptop, and 1600x900 is such a low resolution to put into a 17.3" mobile workstation.

Also please do not bump your thread more than once in 24 hours, it is poor forum etiquette and against forum rules.

The screen makes significantly more of a difference. Get the 1920x1080 display before any other upgrade.

    i would also agree.

the 1920x1080 screen is the most worthy upgrade. you could also spec a lower system ram and do a self upgrade as well.

If money is a concern to make room for other upgrades, I would suggest getting the lowest Ram and Hard drive options from Dell and then buying them from Newegg to install yourself (if you feel comfortable doing so)

Memory and HDD options are brutally expensive from Dell. I got 8GB (2x4GB sticks) of 1333 DDR3 ram from Newegg for $45. Compare that to $280 for the Dell upgrade. That's $235 in savings for the Ram alone!

For the HDD, you can get a 750GB HDD from newegg for $89 vs $190 from Dell. Plus you get to keep the base 250Gb HDD for more storage or turn it into a USB external. Upgrading the HDD and Ram are the two easiest upgrades to make on a laptop and there are numerous tutorials and videos available to help you do so.

    Newegg.com - G.SKILL 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Laptop Memory Model F3-10600CL9D-8GBSQ
    Newegg.com - Seagate Momentus ST9750420AS 750GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache 2.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s Internal Notebook Hard Drive -Bare Drive

PS To agree with those above, the 1920x1080 screen is hands down the most important upgrade to make and at only $85 is an absolute must for an M6600. I can't imagine doing programming (.Net or otherwise) with a low resolution screen.
