    Hi,
I have been looking at the 3700 off and on for a couple of months, but haven't pulled the trigger.
It seems awfully good to be true... the screen size for the weight, etc. Any reviews or user feedback here?
It doesn't seem too many folks have written about this one here.

    Thanks
    T

I think this machine could be a real winner if they would start selling it with the nice 1920x1200 WUXGA TrueLife screen they had in the Vostro 1720.

I do love the price point, for sure.

Any personal experiences would be awesome to hear about

It might help you make your decision to know that Dell has a 30-day Money-Back Guarantee on all Vostro, Latitude, Precision and OptiPlex systems. If you aren't satisfied within 30-days of the invoice date, you can return it for a full refund with NO restocking fees and Dell even covers return shipping. It's mentioned HERE- click on the "Vostro Overview" tab to see for yourself! :D

To me, the whole point of getting such a big laptop is to have a higher resolution to make the most of that 17-inch screen. So doesn't it seem almost pointless for Dell to offer their huge Vostro 3700 with only 1600x900 resolution? At that level why not just get a smaller machine on which that resolution works just fine, that would be much easier to carry around?

As I mentioned earlier, you should really be able to configure the 3700 with a FHD screen like the one that was available on the Vostro 1720. Maybe more people would be interested in this machine then. Does anyone here have any inside info on whether Dell is planning to bring that option back anytime soon?

some features discussed and a few reviews can be found in this thread (although it's a lot to wade through):

    Dell Vostro 3700 has arrived!

I agree - would prefer a higher quality FHD screen (and a ATI 5730 graphic option). Wish the speakers were a bit better.

But a 6.0lb 17.3" laptop at the prices offered is hard to ignore.

Since i'm used to playing games at low graphics settings (though playing assassins creed 2 on my 8600m gt is really pushing it) i'm also considering this vostro3700 or the dell studio 17. I know the dell studio has a better gpu, but the matte screen of the vostro is really tempting since I need a laptop for watching a lot of movies, and our house is way to bright for doing so on a mirror screen. On the other hand, I have my doubts about the heat management of the vostro 3700 since I didn't find any concrete temepratures (I normaly consult notebookcheck for temps). And I wonder if the 3700 has the same flexable screen like the 3400 has.
And since I don't have a company or work for one, I'm not sure if I'm able to buy any extended warranty (buying dell's bussines models as a normal consumer is possible thanks to dell since you do not have to give your company tax number if you do not want to).
