Where did you see no restocking fee. I checked their dell business website and they charge restocking fee.

Restocking Fees: Unless the product is defective or the return is a direct result of a Dell error, Dell may charge a restocking fee of up to 15% of the purchase price paid, plus any applicable sales tax.

Dell Home and Small Business both charge restocking fees, but not on certain product lines.

    go here:

    Vostro Laptops | Dell

click on the "Vostro Overview" tab and it says:

"Money-Back guarantee - Vostro systems come with a 30 Day Money-Back Guarantee. If you are not satisfied, return your Vostro within 30 days. There are no restocking or shipping fees. "

Not sure what other lines (Latitudes? Precisions?) have this guarantee...

yeah lol guys i feel like an idiot. i ordered the fast track system, which is 100$ more than the custom order except with 1 gb more ram (after BCB), which is more like a 40-50$ value. and also rendered useless by 32-bit windows. so i dont know if i should keep it or not. still a good deal, just could have been better :p regrets

oh well. i should be getting it tomorrow (according to this fedex tracking thing). i'll try and take some pictures for you guys

o and thanks for the warranty info, kgriffin!

i can also vouch for this. i called a dell sales rep yesterday to check return policy, and he said no restocking fee or return shipping costs. just call back their number and they'll take care of it w/ full refund. he said it with confidence and a note of exasperation

Don't worry just download a 64bit OS, your 32-bit key should still work or call Dell tell them I can't use 4GB Ram without 64bit OS ... They should ship you 64bit OS CD in your case ..

I just checked by Order delivery date changed from August 12, 2010 to August 6, 2010. This means it should ship today or tomorrow since I have 3-5 day delivery.

@Nehcffej - if you are planning on doing a fresh install of Windows 7, just install the 64 bit version of whatever level of Win 7 (Home Premium, Professional, Ultimate) came with your 3700. Your Dell Windows 7 key should work for either the 32 bit or 64 bit version with no problems.

Dell rep told me the OS DVD will be in the box, so that should have both 32 and 64 bit versions on it. If not, check out this thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/windows-os-software/428068-legal-windows-7-download-links-just-like-vista-before.html

@CrashX - I ordered about 3-4 hours after you, so I hope mine changes to Aug 6th too! Still Aug 12th for the moment.

I just got my BCB email confirmation this morning, so if you don't have it in the next day or so you can contact Bing Cashback support about it. I'm sure they have a ton of orders to process from the last mad rush before it ended. Now, assuming I like the 3700 and keep it, I will get my BCB in "only" 56 more days...

Keep giving us your impressions! Weight? Screen quality? CPU whine? Fan noise?

I like the weight. its light for 17.3". but its still BIG! (when ordering, 17.3" didnt really register as all that big.......until i got it lol)

very solid feel and build. spacious keyboard. the hinge is very strong. it actually kinda takes effort to put the screen up.

sorry though, i actually am heading out for lunch right now so i cant really say much about everything else. i should be back by 2 to turn it on and give it a proper run through.

heh, no lunch for you! We need to know right now! :D

But really, I just meant whenever you have a chance, don't stop giving your impressions.

So are you coming from a smaller laptop? Are you just used to using 14" or 15" laptops? From a 15.6" or 15.4" laptop that is let's say 3 years old, the 3700 shouldn't seem too gigantic. 14" for sure though.
