What os will work best with a Dell D830?

    Thanks! I"m running win7 Enterprise with XP mode, hardware is a Gskill 64GB SSD' 4GB of Ram, T9300 2.5GHZ, and a Nivida "NVS140,Fingerprint reader, And I will Upgrade/install The wireless card to a 3965 and and Bluetooth Chip :)

    I just installed Win 7 x64 on a D830 and it was the smoothest install ever. I didn't have to go hunting around for obscure drivers. Everything just worked.

    I also found a nice little trick to get the most out of your Core 2 Duo on this board. I call it Dual IDA mode. Worth a look. :)

    I have a 2nd hdd-bracket with hdd for the D830. So I can change between the hdd for work and one for myself. Win XP Pro for work and Win7 Ultimate x64 in the weekend. :p
    It works like a charm.

    That's got to be a lot of wear-and-tear on something that wasn't designed for it (hard drive connector)...I would probably recommend using the modular bay instead...

    The hdd bracket is in fact a modular bay. It's seated at the left under the PC card slot. I change the HDD's in about 2-3 sec.

    I run Windows 7 on my Vostro 1500 system and it's a third of the OP's system and runs it just fine. Windows 7 64bit will run great on your D830. :cool:
