mSATA on M6700 is 3.0Gbs max. The crucial m4 will give you only 7.8 on WEI. I would say install on the PM840.

You can use it for anything that benefits from faster I/O, programs or as an extra storage because you need more space. Personally, I use mine for programs that are shared between my windows 7 and windows 8 installations (mostly steam games).

    Hey dudes,

I'm going to do a clean install on my M6700 as the Dell OEM version of Windows 7 Pro (64-Bit) doesn't seem right. Is there any way to keep the Dell Battery Profiles as they are quite useful, but I can't find them anywhere to download.

    Many thanks.

Th Dell profiles should be part of the feature enhancement pack.

    Many thanks for that.

    My lst questions are:

Is there any reason to use UEFI boot when I install Windows 7 and also, If I coose to RAID my two hard drives to RAID 0 for extra performance, is there a way to stop the RAID screen appearing for a few seconds after the BIOS screen when I turn it on? I know that the access to the RAID controls can be disabled in the BIOS, but it still displays that screen which is irritating.

    Many thanks in advance.

I have just got my 6700 refurbished happy with it, but have found the operating system is installed on the standard drive not the solid state, the standard drive is in the primary harddrive slot and the solid state in the secondary slot, should I swap them around when reinstalling windows on the solid sate? Is there any differences between the two slots?

    Thanks

The main bay can be ejected from the notebook if you don't leave the screws in it, that's about it, both are SATA III. It's up to you, but there is no need to.

Grab the Windows 8 drivers from Dell's website, make sure you grab the ones for the right version (32-bit or 64-bit), you can find the full list of devices you got either in the order you got from Dell, you can also use the device manager. The lsit I gave in the original post includes most of the drivers for Windows 7, fingerprint reader and smartcard reader aren't in the list I gave if you got those, but you can use that list as a starting point and add whatever additional utilities/drivers you need. You can get the drivers from here: Product Support for Precision M6700 | Dell Canada.

As for the install order for the drivers, I'd start with the chipset and then the rest.
