there is a difference, but not huge.im not sure its worth paying the extra now you already ordered with a 5100. i believe the main advantage of the 5300 is higher speed when operating on N.

having said that, the 5300 has the best range and signal quality of any wifi card i've ever used.

when you call dell, if they refuse to change it, you should ask to speak to their supervisor. they normally will restart the order or change it, sometimes even throw it in for free

especially if you threaten to cancel the order

The maximum speed of wifi N is 300, isn´t it? So how can I use speed 450 at 5300 card?
And after the replacementof the card I have to change the drivers too?

    1. There is a feature comparison here and some discussion here.

    2. it is the same driver for both.

I suggest you don't spend money on the 5300 until you have found that the 5100 doesn't deliver what you need.

Of course I don´t have to buy 5300 immediately but If I will decide to upgrade wifi let´s say after a year I´m not sure that 5300 will still be for sale...

Then you would simply buy the 5300's replacement, so no problem there...

Those "platforms" are marketing names and any network card using the same interface is compatible...

    100%.

The "platform" only exists as a marketing term when the processor, chipset, and wireless are all intel and line up with whatever they say the platform is called. If you had a broadcom wireless card instead of an intel, you would no longer have the "platform" but you would still have everything working fine.
