    Updated everything!
Still unable to connect Droid X via bluetooth to Win7 Enterprise 64bit on M6400.
Fairly advanced user and this has me stumped.
    Anyone else have this problem?
    Thanks.

See sig for additional hardware details.

Explain exactly what happens? You enter discoverable mode and it doesn't see anything for the phone? Or it does but doesn't sync?

Yes everything is discoverable (although it took me a while to confirm this with the M6400 as there were several 'layers').
Wireless USB Manager shows no devices found (and I've tried using PIN Association and Cable Association).

Droid X is straightforward and it connects to other (bluetooth and WiFi) hardware with no problems.
Droid X shows Dell Wireless 410 Bluetooth but unable to pair due to incorrect PIN or Passkey.

    M6400 finds nothing.

Anyone having bluetooth problems with M6400 Win 7 Enterprise 64-bit and Dell Wireless 410 Bluetooth? I noticed today Dell Support does not list driver for Wireless 410 Bluetooth under Win 7 64-bit.

I am using the 64-bit Vista drivers that Dell offers for the M6400. I remember it taking a bit of fiddling to get this working right, though. In particular, I first completely removed Bluetooth support (uninstalled the default Microsoft driver) before installing the Dell driver. My Bluetooth seems to be working fine now.

    Tried that but no progress.

Users should know that the process of adding Bluetooth devices in Windows 7 is very different from adding them in Windows Vista.

Ah, now I remember one more issue: I had to go to Device Manager, pull up the Bluetooth radio properties, and uncheck the box (under the Power management tab) that allows the system to turn off the device to save power. If I left this checked, my Bluetooth would act erratically, sometimes not even able to see any devices, sometimes randomly disconnecting and then not being able to reconnect, etc. You might want to see if you have this box checked; it is checked by default.

Other than that, you can add Bluetooth devices in Win7 in the same way as you proceeded in Vista, but you can, of course, also use the approach described in the article you linked, which is now the preferred way.

P.S.: Do you only have problems with your Android device, or can you not see any Bluetooth devices at all?

P.P.S.: The driver I have installed has Dell designation R226750. Same card as yours.

    Hi Pirx,

Been awhile. Thanks for your informative post. I've been swamped but this weekend I'm going to review everything (BIOS settings, etc.,).

As a short note initially Power Management tab was checked but then I unchecked it. But at this stage I've tried so many things that I need to start clean and systematically review everything testing the connection at each step. Will post back.

My Win 7 system has no Bluetooth Devices icon so I'm not sure one can add devices the same way as Vista. Even Device Manager shows no Bluetooth (which would normally be listed under Batteries).

The only place I can find anything bluetooth is under Device Manager/Universal Serial Bus controllers and even then it lists "Dell Wireless 410 Wireless USB Device" which I happen to know is the bluetooth device and its driver provider is WiQuest 7/3/2008 Ver 1.4.20.0.

Can't see the two bluetooth devices I have (Droid X and Plantronics Voyager 855 Stereo Bluetooth Headset) but both of these are not your usual bluetooth notebook devices ...

That definitely doesn't sound right: You should have a separate top-level category in device manager called "Bluetooth Radios". The driver provider for the Dell driver is Broadcom.

The Dell Wireless 410 USB device you are talking about is the wireless USB, which has nothing to do with Bluetooth; this is for connecting to wireless USB devices (such as wireless hard drives), of which none exist as far as I know...

In any case, this sounds like you have no Bluetooth drivers installed. The Dell 410 has dual radios, one for WUSB, and one for Bluetooth. It seems you only have the driver for the WUSB installed.
