Very slim. It would have to go into production almost right away.

I have mine charging right now and the palmrests are not any warmer than they usually are, which is basically no warmth and I could use a little right now.Djangi likes this. -

Core i7 6700, 256GB SSD, 16GB Ram, OLED, Win 10 Pro 2 year warranty with complete care.

So mine went into production yesterday (im UK). How long you reckon until it ships?

It does seem that battery life estimation is a bit of since I usually get more than the estimated time. Probably about 4 hours(instead of the estimated 2.5) while browsing and downloading/installing software.
Concerning the heat, I's only noticeable during longer charging times. I usually plug into power when I'm at about 10 - 15%, unless I'm doing power hungry work(gaming, development, 3D modelling/rendering)
I keep monitoring the battery heat but I might just be looking for aren't there. -
Will test with CPU performance off also. But I'm the weirdo everyone shoots down in here, who love low temps and like to have healthy components over time haha.
Just tested with tomb raider with everything maxed and one hour game play: highest temp 67 degrees Celsius. I've yet to repadded though. But metal paste... -
I forgot to charge my system last night and have been using it on AC power since this morning, but no hot spots to speak of.Djangi likes this. -

Hello together,
this is my first post. I wanted to give some Feedback. I've got my Alienware 13 R3 4 days ago. First Thing I normally do is reinstalling Windows etc. to get a fresh start. My config is:
i7 6700, OLED, 32GB RAM, 512GB Toshiba SSD, 1535 Killer WLAN and Win 10 Pro.
I've read here that there could be lag issues on Win 10 itself. Battery Taskbar Animation, Wallpaper Change etc. Unfortunatly I've got These too and couldn't get rid of it. This is stuff I normally didn't expect for a machine at this Price Point, so I thought already to sens it back. Reason for this Kind of lag is Optimus in Win10 as I found out in other Forums. There are Tools to check if the integrated inter graphic or the nvidia is running, and in fact, every time the ~1s lag (mouse freeze) occours, the Intel/nvidia/Microsoft...i don't care who, decides to Switch the graphics back and forth.
In other Forums you can find an "EmptyProject.exe", which calls a direct3d api to force the nvidia Card to be enabled also on the Desktop. The exe didn't use a lot of ressources. That works!
But a even better solution I found is to go into the Intel Settings - 3D - Optimum Mode für Applications, or something like that. Sorry but my machine is german. Just Translated it. Deactivate it and you are good to go. Now everything is rendered by the nvidia Card and no lag anywhere.
The nvidia Card is still most of the time in "IDLE" state and Needs not a lot more power. First test didn't Show much of a difference in battery consumption.
The other issue I found is a stuttery external Screen, when only the external Screen is used. A reboot solves this, but it's a Little annoying. Extended Monitor work as expected without reboot, so I'll just use this instead. I can live with that, but I still hope for some BIOS/Driver updates to fix this stuff. Is there any better place to Report issues so DELL get Aware?
I hope I could give some valueable Feedback for some. For everything else... this machine is awesome. Super build Quality, awesome Screen and Keyboard.
I'm happy I found a solution which enables me to Keep this machine. -
So Dell online has a 10% off coupon code. So with the i7/QHD OLED/8GB RAM/256GB the price goes from $1799 down to $1619. Is it possible to negotiate lower than that? I'm in a chat session with one of their sales reps, not getting anything more than that. Were prices lower on Black Friday or any other point?

You may be stable, but I truly doubt it, you have doubtless had to spend hours getting Windows 10 updates fixed and adjusted, you just are in denial about it.
I talked with people that say it works for them ok, then after talking for a while they bring up all the crap they have been through along the way, and the concern they have for MS messing it up yet again with another update.
Don't worry, it takes a long time to break away and figure out what's going on, enjoy your time in the warm and comfy dark recesses of denial
If you do want to come out of the dark, then spend some time in those threads I posted for you, the Windows 10 thread has come active again recently with some good tools for building a Windows 10 you can live with. Not me of course, it's too unstable for use even with those "fixes".Last edited: Dec 14, 2016 -
Spend time on each, then ask for consideration - a small discount to cover your concerns, if you order. Let them feel your pain.
All that time you've spent on your own reading, learning, researching, worrying, make sure you spend that with them, and eventually to make the sale they will give you the consideration you need to compensate for the worries you have, and the time you've spent worrying.
Please let us know how it works outTichy_ likes this. -

I hope your friend is correct, it would suck to get a recall on the AW13 for battery problems. -

I'm not normally sarcastic on forums, and no offence to you intended, but despite ordering well in advance I find myself having to make contingency arrangements as this is an Xmas gift for someone. The whole process of having to chase for scraps of information has really brassed me off. My frustration is directed at Dell and their intransigent processes.

Sarcasm aside, I feel for you and wish I had answer as the situation surrounding your order sounds really strange.sparkle999 likes this. -
IPS screen, 16GB, 512SSD, 1535.
RE battery life. Have been taking notes on real world times for the last two weeks with a stable undervolt of -0.0160mV and various power saving measures.
I consitently get around 6:40 for a full cycle at screen at 10% brightness (slightly less with AW FX turned on) and streaming video.
My battery also came with 5% wear out of the box and it wasnt set to manufactiring mode. From memory my previous laptop (Gigabyte P34G) also came with 5% wear out of the box.
IPS screen for much better battery life was a good compromise for me but....I can also confirm that MaxOAk 50000mAH powerbank powers my IPS build for at least 12 hrs (but doesnt charge battery) so maybe I shouldve went with the OLED.... anyways....
Temps are 35C normal use and 65C playing Fallout 4. Left hand side of keypad does get reasonbly warm though.sidsat20 and Digital1337 like this. -
Then go into all your media programs and turn off indexing there too. I find it best to remove all searched areas from the searched areas lists so that if an update turns on indexing media again at least there will be no areas to search
When I get a new laptop I open a task manager => Performance monitoring window and watch disk activity - sort by read or write speeds, and then track down each app that uses too much disk io randomly and de-commission them in their preferences and in their scheduling - turn them off as they will start up at inopportune times.
Also, turning off power management to the drives - set active and inactive power plan advanced settings to Never for powering down drives. Also turn off power handing for SATA / USB devices / USB hubs in device manager.
Basically you want to find every instance of service, scheduled app, power and savings settings and disable them, turn them off, or configure them to limit their resource usage.

anybody know what a quality audit hold is?
after bugging umar and frank, support reached out to me and informed me that the last update on my order is that its on a quality audit hold and my eta is not revised.
so if my ETA is December 19 before any revision, im going to just guess i wont be getting it till Januaryhmscott likes this. -
yuo also need to remove the dell bloatware that comes with the laptop -
I have no stutter at all so I'm wondering if its related to the different types of ssd Dell puts in?
-
Some SSD's do respond to multiple access better... HDD's are horrendous in that they are just soo slow to follow through on multiple access requests. -
Which alienware software is worth keeping and which should I remove?

Have you guys ever had a Dell sales agent end the chat on you? Or did my internet just crap out on me for a second or something
vvvv Interesting, I didn't get reconnected and my internet was working fine. I wonder what I did wrong hah...Last edited: Dec 14, 2016 -

I pulled the trigger and bought the following configuration for $1683.73:
i7, 512gb HD, 16gb RAM, and the OLED display.
I'm both excited and wondering if I should have held off for post-Christmas deals and/or Kaby-Lake to launch... But I figure that I can always send it back if I don't like it and it seemed like a good deal for what I got.hmscott likes this. -
It's official, I finally FINALLY bought it. Got an okay deal, but still sorta bummed that I missed out on a better one because the sales rep on my initial purchase didn't inform me of the TenOff coupon. So I cancelled that order, and reordered through Ebates with the TenOff coupon code this time around so it kind of makes up for it. I'm hoping I don't have any issues with Ebates, as I've paid using the Dell financing. I'll be waiting in anticipation for the next 2-3 days to see if I actually get the cash back. I want to thank everyone in this thread for all of the information and their contributions! I will definitely try to provide all of the info you guys want from me when I receive it. Bought in the US. My specs:
OLED
i7 6700hq
GTX 1060
Windows 10 home
Killer 1535
Status: Confirmed
Estimated Delivery Date: 12/22/2016 - 12/29/2016 (Although it says 12/21/2016 - 12/28/2016 on the My Account page under Recent Orders)
I also want to note that if you were planning to purchase any warranties after your purchase, then it will cost you at least 3 times the cost compared to if you buy it with the laptop. For purchasing a warranty with the laptop, there is a 4 years for the cost of 3 deal going on if anyone is interested (I was).Last edited: Dec 15, 2016 -

If it's anything like the 3200x1800 screen on my 13 R1 then it'll look great but have slight bleed issues (but be awesome besides that). I seriously considered getting the IPS display but figured that I might miss the touch functionality although a part of me wonders if OLED and touch were really worth the extra $230...
I'm hoping that the OLED display is as good as everyone says it is and I'll have less conflicted feelings once I actually see it in-person. Plus I got a good deal on what I ordered so I shouldn't feel too bad even if I could have saved a little bit more by going with the lesser screen. $1,680 seems like a good price (the IPS screen would have been about $1450 or thereabouts).sidsat20 likes this. -

Well my estimated delivery date is N/A. My graphics amp was delivered yesterday. I'll contact Dell tomorrow since I placed my order on 12/8

You can reproduce the effect by using a very strict power plan but that will probably result in a worse user experience since you would have to manually wake up your computer regularly.
I find the windows hello & tobii features much more useful than I initially imagined. -

It's a personal thing, but I don't like smudges on screens, hence I don't want a glossy touch screen. Also the IPS giving the benefit of marginally better battery life is a little bonus.
Light bleed (fingers crossed) won't be a major problem. What about the colour accuracy though? If I want to work on art/video work, can I rely on this display? -
The only thing I feel is that 1080p is all one really needs in a 13" form factor. But that's just what I think and I might be way off. -
Did you use ebates as well? Even then it would still be above 1700? I must be missing something.
