Try entering the TENOFF coupon in your cart, it's weird and doesn't auto apply.

That isn't counting ebates. Basically I took one of the 'Green Monday' deals, that I cannot find displayed anymore but had in my cart so I retained access to it after the deal was taken down from the main site and you can still find if you have a direct link to it, and customized it to include the OLED screen and a year of Accident Coverage (because if I'm going to get a laptop with an entirely too expensive screen I want to make sure that it's covered in case I damage it somehow). And then I added the tenoff coupon on top of that.

The configuration that I used to get my deal is still around if you know where to look although I think it expires in a few hours and you're no longer able to customize it so you're stuck with the 1080p screen. That comes out to about $1450 and includes the i7, 512gb drive, and 16gb of RAM but doesn't have the OLED display or the Accidental Coverage.

See post #1118 (UK only it seems)

Still awaiting an update myself. Was informed that this would be by Friday but another Dell rep stated 100% I will receive my laptop on the 18th. (I ordered on the 25th Nov, currently sat in uk hub) I forwarded this info onto my customer care rep.
So will see what's said today

I dont do photo editing or anything like that and havent used a calibration device etc so not sure my opinion would be of much use. But looks fine to me. I use a program called f.lux which reduces blue light dependant upon time of day to save my eyeballs from burning off so colour accuracy for me is not a big deal and without comparing screen to another screen its difficult to say whats accurate and whats not.

Weird cause when I added the laptop into my cart during Green Monday, the price increased in my cart when the promotion ended and there was a notification on my cart page saying that the price is now higher since when it was added. Guess you got lucky!

I want to keep the wallpaper and any theme. Any idea if there is a package which can install them all? Or only individual image files...

What I would also say as well Sid is that if, like me, you are weighing up the battery life Vs OLED touchscreen (notwithstanding potential future burn in issues and the point of it on a 13" screen in the first place) there is the option of getting a powerbank seperately and the OLED - so perhaps best of both worlds, but cost difference is about £300.

I've got to say undervolting works miracles. I would never in my life repaste, as I even got 3 years of premium warranty, so I tried undervolting.
3d mark scores stayed the same, but max cpu temps went down by a good 15/20°. It's amazing!!!
I don't get why intel doesn't undervolt its cpus by default.
I'm also amazed by the killer wireless card, I didn't expect such good ping and speed from a wireless connection.

I got the IPS display and it looks very good to me, I'm coming from a 2011 MBP too.

I can share an update. Last night a dropped an email to [email protected], explaining the situation and asking for a firm date. As a result of this, I received a call today from their customer care team, the lady who spoke with me explained that the issue is indeed the fact that the devices have been left in maintenance mode, and the work being undertaken is to change the configuration of the device. The batteries themselves are not the issue. (Oh the frustration.... it's a keystroke during boot up!)

She also advised that they are intending to have all of the units reconfigured by Tuesday next week, following which they will be shipped. Whilst a firm date has not been provided for when I will receive the device, she did indicate that she would keep me appraised of progress, and was confident that the order would be fulfilled before Xmas.

She took on board my feedback around communications, or the lack thereof.

Looks like the AW15 I ordered from John Lewis last night as a fallback measure may not be required after all, which would be good news.

    Fantastic news!!!

I raised this with the dell tech last week. They have now 100% confirmed that this is the issue.
This is great news, as new batteries would have been a reet hassle!

I also have confirmation that my laptop will be delivered by tomorrow! But no confirmation email.......

Even if not, hopefully get the laptop delivered by xmas!

(Knowing the issue is easily resolved, it would have been easier to just notify us of the issue and we could resolve it. Get the laptops a bit earlier, but oh well!)

    Delivery through chat stated below:

    Hi

    How may I help you

I placed an order on the 25th

could you please find out when my order will be delivered please?

    order number #####

It is currently sat in a UK hub awaiting dispatch

    one moment

but have been told that there is a battery issue

my tracking has not updated so no need to link me to that

as it staed delivery on the 8th

    *states

it's currently in Lutterworth awaiting dispatch to me

    ....

    one moment

    thank you very much

It would be delivered by tomorrrow

    ? Are you sure?

    as this would be fantastic

    yes

well thank you very much for this

will I get an email stating this?

    or a delivery note?

yes you will get an email

Edit. Just got off the phone to Dell again......
So they are releasing people's laptops in batches... So far 89 out of 800 have been released from depot.
They don't know what order numbers are in what release batch but have stated that everything will be complete by end of next week.

With regards to my delivery for tomorrow, the care rep basically said don't listen to any rep on online chat as they will tell you anything!

Told her how discusting this is that they are promising customers delivery dates that are made up....... Great service that one!

Anyway, just a waiting game now as they won't know anything further until the laptop has shipped from depot.

And so it is done! Order placed. Went for the IPS as I don't think I value a touchscreen enough. Thanks for the powerbank reminder, will definitely check that out along the line.

Most of you are concerned about cpu temps. In my case these are rather fine up to 65-70C under havy gaming, but unfortunately my gpu goes high. Yesterday during the Overwatch session (Max res., epic settings) I noticed that the gpu temp was slowly but consistenly (over 20 minutes) growing from low eighties to 89-91C, which worries me a little and I started to think about repasting it. Can I ask what's your experience with the gpu temps under load? Do you know by any chance how much heat can gf1060 stand?

Playing ark I recorded a max of 76° after about 40 minutes, iirc.
From what I read 1060 should always stay relatively cool, even more so with games like overwatch.

Best way to check would to run Firestrike w/your temp monitoring software in the back. Different games apply different loads to CPU/GPU so it's not very meaningful from a generalist perspective (although it may be perfect for what you need/do)

I ran firestrike lots of times yesterday while monitoring temps, gpu temps were perfectly fine while cpu was skyrocketing before the undervolt.

I recently got my Alienware 13 R3 and I'm interested in learning more about undervolting and how to do it, as well as pros/cons of it. Could you please tell me how you did it on the 13, and what settings you use/recommend using? Or is there an information guide somewhere I can read? Thank you in advance!!

It was very simple actually. I installed Intel Extreme Tuning utility. Restarted the pc, opened the tool, setting the undervolt option down incrementally, testing each time if it was stable running benchmarks, until I stopped at -150. I think I could even go a bit lower but I couldn't try it yesterday. That's all. The intel tool is installed as a service, so on every restart it just applies your settings.
I know there are other ways to do it, like throttlestop, but this was the fastest way for me.

Pros : lower temperatures, battery life should be increased I guess.
Cons : nothing that I know of, it could crash with BSOD if you undervolt it too much.

    Are you uk based?
If so, take a quick scan back over the previous pages regarding orders on hold.
Short of it is, is that Dell left all UK orders in manufacturing mode so have to change that and charge laptops past 60%.
They are in the process of this at the minute and will have it resolved by end of next week.
(I have been informed just now that Dell are highly confident that the rate they are fixing this issue with laptop mode, that delivery will be by end of next week in time for Xmas. Take that as you will ;) )

Also my ETA was the 8th and they have sent me in writing that due to the issue nd long wait that I will receive a 10% compensation refund once the laptop is delivered.
Definitely express your disappointment with a customer care rep and see what they say.
I didn't push for this, she just threw it into conversation as she was extremely sorry about what's happening to us all in uk.

are you guys not getting any stuttering? it's annoying the hell outta me and i've been playing around with this machine all day today to no avail.

for example, try clicking on the battery icon in system tray; you'll see it stutters for a second. another test you guys can try is try toggling on/off "Automatically hide the taskbar in desktop/tablet mode". if that was it, i'd be able to live with it but when running some applications like my vpn software, it stutters like crazy when it's connecting and also when i close the window.

i know this is a graphics driver problem b/c when i disable the intel 530 graphics driver from device manager, all stutter problems go away and become buttery smooth. i've read posts sayings it's a problem with optimus but i never had any problems like this on the 15R3 with gtx 1070.

please someone, save me from this torture

yes i have and none of the solutions mentioned (disabling indexing, superfetch, etc.) have worked. i know a few ppl have also mentioned the stuttering but i'm surprised more people aren't talking about it. maybe it's b/c so few ppl have the laptop so far.

this thread ( https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/656763-system-stuttering-on-msi-gs63vr-gtx-1060-laptop/) also talks about the exact same issues and you can see for yourself it ended up being unresolved.

I'm not quite sure how I messed up mine so not entirely sure HOW to use the recovery when backing up with dells software which has to be downloaded first to make a back up. Other than that I know you can clone the drive which I guess you could do on a USB and maybe then you can upload the folder with files.

thanks for the suggestions but i had already tried all of them and nothing worked when it came to system stutter (aka not in-game).

since all stuttering goes away if i disable the intel graphics driver or vice versa and run with only one graphics mode enabled, pretty sure this isn't something that can be solved through tricks like indexing.

i'm just confused why other ppl aren't complaining so much about it. makes me wonder if i have faulty hardware that's somehow making it worse.

optimus has always been a difficult matter to handle

I like how MSi handles the graphics switching, they either have full iGPU or full dGPU, nothing inbetween to increase the chance of messing up

I have the stuttering and a few other problems that are cheesing me off so much I am returning it. This was supposed to replace my 2015 razer blade (which I love but man is it noisy) but the razer actually performs better due to some strange CPU problem I am getting on the AW13 (although the cores are hitting 3.1ghz I am getting low scores in prime/XTU and BF1 give me really low FPS with low GPU utilisation).

I am at a stage in my life were I don't have the time to beta test Dells buggy products to try and get it working as it should.

lol I'm not in denial...you know why? because I know if something doesn't work for me I return it, I.E alienware 13 R3, Windows 10 works for me and millions if not billions of others. I don't have to spend time fixing my Aorus x3, which is another reason why I returned my AW 13 R3.

Problems with you is, you brings up all these problems and yet you still choose to use Microsoft product. Instead of *****ing, whining and complaining, learn some Linux commands, install a distro and moved on, nobody tell you to use Microsoft product if you don't like it or think it's "bugged". Hell, even buy a Mac, don't bring your conspiracy theory crap on the forum, keep your drama to you and yourself. They say misery love companies but damn! you just spend your time on crap that is not important or no one give a **** about. I'm laughing at your ass bruh...kinda pity you in a way, move on bruh, need some psych help.

its the coding on the pascal GPU, good way to test this is go into device manager and disable either the IGPU or dedicated GPU (GTX 1060) the stuttering will go away.

    Networking definitely.
But as networking is much quicker it seems like the stutter issue is improved.
Anyways have now disabled using the Intel GPU. Using 1060 only there is absloutley no stutter/lag whatsoever.
Downside seems to be a big reduction of battery life (6.5hrs to about 4.5) but the battery monitor is all over the place at moment.

Scratch that last post (by me). May be confirmation bias.......The stutter seems markedly reduced but probably not gone completley. When clicking on the battery there is no lag at all now on the 1060 only which is why I got excited...but is probably still there overall slightly (or I'm becoming a stutter hypochondriac). Others should test.

I'm happy to PM people the link if they're interested (I'm hesitant to publicly post it in case it in case it was a pricing error that Dell missed and everyone using the link causes my order to be canceled).

While it's no longer possible to change the configuration from the link it's a good deal for people who want the IPS screen with 16gb of RAM and the 512gb drive and you should still be able to stack the tenoff coupon as they've extended that offer for XPS and Alienware systems. This will save $438.80 and make the final price $1,411.19 before shipping and tax, or approximately $1450 after tax give or take for your location, and you can get free shipping with a free Dell Account.

The reason that these modules are not working is because they are ECC modules, which is not supported by every motherboard.
ECC modules are made for servers, and industrial motherboards.
