Ya I understand, take a look at the 3 leafs far left of screen that is best example from what it looks like in person. Also on a solid white background it appears like a yellow hugh compared to white on monitor

mine too. Though, take into account that viewers here have to have a good enough display too to compare it
But generally the same - the reds looks like a washed orange

I was going to buy this one but I just can't get past the 1080 screen at 220 nits and poor color.

I have owned the m14x which came with a wonderful screen 1400x900. The two m11x's I could live with due to the good colors and small size of the screen.

The 13 was to me not one of the better screens compared to a Lenovo x230 which has a perfect screen. The 13 seems like it is darker on the left and right sides of the screen.

I would like to get a 15 but on the 1080p screen the minimum screen brightness should be 300nits.

Hmm your screen looks slightly better than mine may just be photo. Is your brightness max? Can you take another photo on solid white background. Mine looks like washed out whit

Eh I guess my expectations arent as lofty as some of you guys on here. It's acceptable to me and this coming from somebody who owns a professionally calibrated Panny plasma tv. If I am gaming or doing any sort of color sensitive work, im going to be using a TV/monitor. To each is own I guess.

G-SYNC requires that the NVIDIA GPU be connected directly to the display panel, and not via the iGPU like it is in Optimus-enabled systems.

As such, you won't see it on the current Alienware laptops.

Does anybody with the AW15 R1 have the "good" LG IPS panel?

If so, can you post the ID/Dell part #?

It should be the LG LP156WF6-SPB1 or something similar.

i am happy with my samsung panel :S and i cant see ghosting. The colors are really good, i only did a color calibration with the profile of notebookcheck.
i play games like battlefield 4, soma, warframe, grid autosport, dying light, etc...
i dont know why the people say that this panel is bad :S

So I purchased the AW 15 R2 on 10/15/15 well within the nvidia bullets or blades free game promotion and is listed on AW website. I have not received a redemption code for the game and even contacted dell who said they will forward to correct department and get back to me, low and behold no response for about a week. Did anyone else have problems getting redemption code and if so how did you receive it?

"1 800-BBKV FREE game with purchase of a GeForce GTX 700 GPU-powered desktop"

PS: Cant wait for the laptop to arrive. Est date of arrival is 13 Nov.

I ordered my 15 on the 14th of October. Since I went with the UHD display due to poor reviews of 1080p, I had an estimated delivery date of 25th of November. Still in Pre-production, ugh. :/

Call them up. I had to cancel my previous order with Dell due to delays like this, they did offer a discount to keep the order and wait for it. But I went ahead and cancelled. Do ask them what is the reason though?

Yep. The 15.6 UHD display panel. If you see the configurations page of the site carefully, you'll notice that on selecting the FHD panel, the system ships within 6-8 business days, but as you choose UHD, that changes to 24-28 business days. Stock issues there, clearly.
So when you cancelled your order, how long did it take for them to refund your money into your account?

I was buying through the Dell Preferred Customer plan, so paid nothing. But this time though I paid them for the Alienware order. My previous order was for the Inspiron 7000 with the 4K screen. I see what you mean.

I'm leaving US first week of December so I need a laptop before that. My EDD is 25th of November so I really cannot afford any delays. So if there's one (God forbid) I might just have to cancel my order and look for another alternative which I can buy quickly from the likes of Amazon, Newegg or BestBuy. But for that, I will need to get my money back, first. I'm unsure how long it takes for them to refund on cancellation. They say before 2-3 biz days, but I'd really appreciate some experienced people's opinion here.

I bought my AW 15 R1 during the promotion for a free Batman Arkham Night game code and I never received my code.

I emailed Dell and was passed around a couple of different departments who would not take ownership and I just gave up. My last email received no response from them!

    Got email response from DELL.

I regret to inform you that your order has been delayed as we are facing unexpected delays in getting supply for this order. The order is in pre-production as the LCD is not available.

I would request you to contact our order modification team on 8002472076 and get the order re-entered.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused. Dell values you as a customer and is committed to providing you with Superior Customer Experience. I assure you that this situation is not indicative of the quality service Dell is capable of providing.

I would like to assure you that we are attempting our best to ship all orders on or before the current estimated ship date. However, we are unable to guarantee any specific shipping date, owing to the availability of the parts.

So I got bored last night and decided to peek inside my laptop, my motherboard also says DDR3L but the actual slots for the RAM both say DDR4 on the base. It also appears that I got screws for my m.2 slots because they both are empty but the screws are there.

Can someone post the software that is most essential to be installed immediately after receiving the Laptop and before commencing regular use. Please also include software for monitoring the laptop's health such as battery wear, monitor calibration, and temperature monitoring etc.

my king need something else ? lol
open hardware monitor http://openhardwaremonitor.org/downloads/ there you can see temperatures, wear, voltage etc.....
intel xtreme utility https://downloadcenter.intel.com/search?keyword=extreme+tuning maybe you can do a little undervolt, is enought to do a little test, and check another things.
google chrome (you know where to find it )+ adblock plus https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/adblock-plus/cfhdojbkjhnklbpkdaibdccddilifddb?hl=es-419 to remove the annoying spam.
malwarebytes https://es.malwarebytes.org/downloads/ is an antimalware software. very good and light.
you need to wait for the premamod version for the gtx 970m on the 15 R2, if you want to overlock your gpu.
3Dmark11 http://www.futuremark.com/benchmarks/3dmark?_ga=1.223463451.1885750721.1442418682 if you want to check the performance

    Hi guys I have Alinware 15 R1

I like to ask people that dose any one test all of the USB port speed to see if they have different transfer data rate ?I

I test mine here is result , those on the left side.first the one with power sharing stay around 40 MB/s even with SSD HDD drive and the second one go as fast as 300 MB/s ( I test them with Samsung T1 SSD)
and the two in the right first one closer to LAN port is do the same thing which is about 300 MB/s and the second one stock in 40 MB/s .In this laptop specification said that all port are USB 3 ;however, test shows different story.
I have windows 10 install on laptop.
another interesting face about this laptop is the power sharing USB power keep showing unrecognized when ever I connect my phone to it. Note that I test with different phone and I test with 3 replacement that Dell send to me! interesting enough all of the do the same .

i made the same test with a 500mb file and yes, you are right, the power share port have a max speed of 40mb/s. the other three ports are fine.
    i found this:
    • The USB 3.0 with Power Share has 2 extra contacts on the connector which can provide up to 1000mA (1A) to a device connected to it.
the reduced speed can be caused by the 2 extra contacts.

Dell has amazed me with their delivery service. I ordered my laptop on 29th October. The order status has moved to shipped, and just confirmed it from FedEx, it is out for delivery. This is exactly a week and less than the conservative estimate they gave me for 12th November. All that remains to see is to check if the laptop works as amazingly as reviewed by Umar from Alienware.

I dont have any issues with my screen. It's plenty bright for me and the colors are good IMO, I dont do any color sensitive work so its not as important to me. I havent started gaming on it yet because I am waiting on Battlefront but the videos I've watched look fine as well.
