That's sad :( I thought there will be someone purchase a same product with me at the same day :D
I go with 6820+ Regular IPS. Although the Dell sale man told me they solved the heat problem LOL I know it was a marketing strategy but I just go and trust and hope it will be fine. Also I'm planning to repaste it with liquid metal, but I'm a newbie.......anyone can suggest me what to avoid in repaste?

Terrible. Let's hope the TN panels don't have backlight bleed. To me this is an unfinished product with the IPS screens.

The Aorus is VERY loud @ ~54 db. Even idle its ~34 db.

Build quality is ok, but not as good.

For what you get, it is more expensive.

It's a finger print magnet on the outside and inside (AW is only on the inside)

The keyboard is way inferior, (but the Numpad is a plus in some cases)

That logo... UGH. It looks like a Hawk trying to make Fisty-Cuffs If they got rid of the giant bicep arm coming out of its neck it would look 1000% better. It looks too stupid as is.

    Exactly the same...

I have afraid to ask a replacement, because i'm not sure if the next one will be similar... do you think that wait 2-3 month will be more reasonable to assure a great replacement in hope that they fix their process? or must ask before it can be too late?
And i saw a video about the tn panel, and the color was bad against the IPS, but light bleed free.

Get the 120HZ TN panel. Then calibrate it yourself, or have it professionally calibrated.

    I think I have a good one, 6700hq gtx 1070.
    http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/15970489

gpu never broke 69 with a +200 +400 OC, the CPU stayed at 75ish the whole time with occasional spikes to 83 with a -150mv. And the fans stayed quiet. Bios is 1.02.

I received my alienware today. I7-6700, 1060, 16gb, 256 ssd, 1080p standard screed 300ns. BF1 on ultra is amazing... no overclocking and on MP maps with 64 players 73-90 fps. That is vanilla ultra with no OC. I'm just floored... The CPU never gets above 80 so far, gpu is around 60. I haven't tried overclocking yet. I assume I can get a few more fps without issue. The BIOS has 2 performance options, 1 fan and 1 cpu. The fan just maxes the fan and its LOUD. The cpu does nothing. Its maxed at x31 at 4 cores\8threads. I'm having a hard time adjusting to the keyboard. I don't like the weird numeric key line on the left hand side. The 2014 AW17 is much quieter on fans but the 860 gtx m is no comparison. I'm debating on keeping it. The price I got is around 1399 for my model. I can get the 17 with the 1070 for 1699. So i'm torn at this point...

    My brand new 15 R3 / 6700HQ / 120hz / 1070 has a great screen but runs hot.

    98c in BF1. 2 cores at 98 and 2 cores at 88.

I really don't think I should have to take a $2000 PC apart to fix the paste. Very frustrated...

download intel xtu under cpu voltage, start at -100mv and go in 10s increment. I got my 6700 to -200mv stable and it drops the temps down 5-10 degrees, yours might be a lot more.

My max temp out of the box with the first bios were 93°C in gaming and it was for a very short time that they were that high.
98°C : => bad factory job : failed thermal paste application out of my head.

You paid 2000$ and if you're not comfortable tearing down the A15 and repasting (I do it with all my laptops regardless of the temp) RETURN IT.

But clearly a factory problem, again, my unit didn't run that high out of the box.

Windows Hello has nothing to do with Tobeii eye tracking. The webcam driver includes the windows hello integration. You need to perma remove the device and disable windows update from adding that driver.

Thats interesting because it is not mentioned for the 15" on the swedish Alienware site, only for the 17. On Alienware.com however it is mentioned for the 15" also. Does all 15" come with Tobii?

Teh 15" comes with Tobii software, seems to be used to do things like the ability to turn of the screen when you aren't in front of it etc.

That is incorrect. The Windows Hello camera has nothing to do with Tobii software. And the Tobii software is not installed on the 15's.

It most certainly is. The AW 15 has a watered down version: Scroll down its right on Dell's website under features

    http://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/prod...ven1=sf18juhG5&ven2=b&ven3=573003503198034464

"The Alienware 15 comes complete with a Windows Hello camera and Tobii eye tracking software."

    Also from PR website
    • Stay Awake / Dim Screen – These presence features inform the device when the user is both present and engaged with the screen, prompting the screen to either stay awake or dim to conserve power when the user engages/disengages with the screen. These features are also found in the Alienware 15 and 13 models.
    • Autolock – Another presence feature powered by Tobii, this enhanced security measure prompts the device to lock when the user steps away from the device. This reduces the vulnerability of unauthorized use by another user when the sleep timer is engaged but the device is not yet locked. This feature is also found in the Alienware 15 and 13 models.

You have to give credit to Dell for being so bad at information that even we who already owns the products doesn't even know what features they have and doesn't have. Unbelievable.

I thought it was pretty clear. Even had a large image of an eye. Literally the second feature mentioned after VR. Did anybody read up on what they are buying?

How Dell presents that software to people when they use their Laptop, thats another matter.

Is anyone else finding their AW15 laptop gets random crashes in games, even without thermal issues? With my laptop I'm finding the following games will crash randomly (takes anything from 2 up to 30 minutes):
    Shadow of Mordor
    XCOM: Enemy Unknown
    Rocket League

The first week or so I assumed it was to do with the heat or just being older games (Shadow of Mordor was the one I mostly noticed it with). But I've mostly resolved the heat issue (when gaming the CPU rarely gets above 70C), yet I'm still getting crashing, and after testing more games than SoM it seems more and more likely to be with the system rather than the games. Interestingly, I haven't noticed any crashes in Mad Max. Not sure if that's just luck or if it's something different about it. RimWorld also doesn't crash, but it's a low powered 2D game so it's not surprising.

I'm running MemTest86 now, but even after an hour there are no errors reported. It could be drivers, but I do have the latest drivers which are supposed to fix the G-Sync flickering issue. And FWIW, in testing last night Rocket League was crashing regardless of what voltage setting I had it on (tested at 0mV, -100mV, -120mV and -150mV).

You may need to perform an OS re-install. I would try that first before getting too worried. Good luck!

I've got the official 1.0.6 at the moment. I can try downgrading to the original 1.0.2 BIOS I guess. I'll try a Windows reinstall over the weekend.

Interestingly I haven't experienced any BSODs or system shutdowns. It's only the games themselves that crash. I guess I should also try downgrading the drivers, although I'm guessing most people with the 120Hz panel are running the latest ones which fix the G-Sync flickering, so I'd expect others to have the same experience.

I tried to make Tobii eye tracking working. But it seems to be an incomplet version.

It detects when you're in front of your screen but can't track the eyes.

    Tobii eye tracking LITE guys...
Don't you see that the whole tobii bar on the AW17 is missing here ^^ ?
I know we like to bash alienware but it was written and pretty clear we'll have tobii lite + windows Hello :

You just have to click on the toggle above (NON means NO in french I deactivated it) to activate it.

It does work I see the red light, if I'm away from the computer alienFX turns OFF and the screen dims after some time etc.

Try running your games after rebooting into the dedicated GPU (Fn+I/D GFX on the F key row). I don't play the games you mentioned but doing this fixed some v-sync, screen tearing and flickering issues I was having with Doom 3. Seems that when you are on integrated graphics and you launch a game "Optimus" turns on the GTX card but still pumps it through the Intel integrated graphics to display on screen. This is supposedly a minor performance hit to this (Like low single digit percentages) but I find it affects the nVidia drivers ability to force v-sync etc.

Because of the new light locations on the lid.

Can you try the light mod and see if it works?

You create a new theme, open it in the app, and change it using the selector or color codes. The new lighting zones can show up as "Unknown Lighting Zone" but you should still be able to change the color
