Great stuff... Does the panel look better as in the color gamut etc.. Compared to the old one? (if you've seen the previous one that is..)

    Mines out for delivery...

You know, I would say yes, as I'm happy that there is no annoying lines there :) 'Pixels' are normal, as they should be. I'll take some photos.

    Stress testing cpu (i7 7820HK) with throttlestop, no undervolt. Max temp of core0 is 80c, core1 71C, core2 77C, core3 72C
So, is the difference of 9C ok or is this already a reason to repaste?

9C is too much. And I expect you tested with the 4.4GHz advertised clock speed. What stress test used?

Rather test with wPRIME (1024M stress test). Or OCCT. Both will push the processor harder. Maybe you can see a bigger core temp difference.

Didn't know the AW 17R4 is manufactured by compal. My first notebooks about 20 yesrs ago were a compal and a bit later a clevo.
Turns out 20 years later I have again notebooks from the same brands. Some things never change...

Mine is out for delivery. Stand by. :)

    Yes I agree...

Here's a repost since it got buried here:

    --------------

For those who are getting the Kaby 17R4, please do the following and post up the results in the

    [CPU + GPU Temperatures + Benchmarks] - Alienware 17 R4 / 15 R3
thread and here in the lounge if you'd like...

    -

    Tests to run:

    CPU Tests:

    1. wPrime v1.55 - 1024M run, bone stock.

    2. wPrime v1.55 - 1024M run, max fan profile.

    3. wPrime v1.55 - 1024M run, Undervolted (to your liking, but please specify your UV amount) on stock fan profile.

    4. wPrime v1.55 - 1024M run, Undervolted with max fan profile.

    GPU Tests:

    1. Fire Strike - Basic run, bone stock.

    * Take screen shots and use hwinfo64. Have it show all the relevant info. such as, CPU temps (all four cores), Voltages, Package power etc...

    * Upload the pics to somewhere else like: imgur, google etc... then link it here.

    -

What's on my mind right now -> "Man the new Kaby model better live up to the bars that the Asus G701VI has set. Just sayin'...."

Hallo Freund, you can set the fans to max in bio and also with hwinfo64.

And yes... there is nothing that touches the AW in build quality, other than Apple, but they are in a different class of body (uni body).

No power saving i thing that motherboard has only 18x link... M. 2 takes 4x and stay 14x so that gpu use only 8x..this is my solution.

Maybe they also reserved some lanes for the proprietary port of the graphics amplifier? However the graphics amplifier doesnt make sense with a gtx 1080. I hope there is a way to get to 16x...

Something is very wrong with your physics score. This is more 3.4-3.5GHz.

Can't fix the lanes for the graphics. You can buy the AW graphic amp and use later instead.

HaHa. Yeah, because 3.4GHz isn't even stock clock.
Remember you have to buy another type M.2 ssd for the 3rd slot if you go that route. It's half size ssd slot. Aka Max 512GB.

Previous Echo models had crippled second M.2 PCIe/NVMe slot. This model have fully speed on 2 of the 3 M.2 slots due Kaby. The Amp use of the pci-e lanes. As stated before.

I think the AMP port is directly wired to the PCI-e lanes. You can get it confirmed in The AMP thread I guess.

My installed version out of the box is 1.0.5. So it seems not to be the newest one. I think 1.0.8 is the newest, right?

Just checked the web: performance diffeeence between 3.0 x16 and x8 is around 1% for games at 3k resolution. Nevertheless x8 sucks

Havent really usee my Vindicator 2.0 but get the feeling that it is a bit to "pretty" to sustain any heavy use in a rough environment in the same way you dont put marble in heavy duty kitchens.

So yea, maybe a repaste before then - but then again these folks are using the 6820hk - are they using defective products to begin with? I would be interested to know if anyone has or plans to update the bios/vbios. @iunlock what is your take on this? Systems are coming with the old firmware. Some people had issues in another thread with the latest bios and the Skylake setup - just curious what your thoughts are with the new rig since you seem to hold a master sword!
