Yeah to have one led not work in your keyboard is crazy. I wonder if there is a way to reset the keyboard. Maybe pulling the battery power and clearing the cmos ?

@Tatupain, a dead LED is usually not something a user can fix. Just contact them, maybe they can send you a new keyboard to replace by yourself at home

Just did a benchmark on Forza Horizon 4 at 1440p. Seems like anything over a 5ghz CPU and +100/200 GPU caused a lot of stuttering and lower FPS. You can seen my settings on the right, it was the optimized settings based on GeForce Experience. Temps were great, but its not the longest benchmark, will have to check after a long gaming session. Curious to see if others are able to OC their GPU higher and not get stuttering.

EDIT: It’s FH4, not FH3

 

I cant imagine they are selling that msny units at the prices they are at. Thats what bugs me. How can they have such poor qc and part shortages when they arent selling nearly as many laptops as for example the XPS range sells.

We cannot even guess how many of these are selling.

But the main point is if Dell could only guess how many they would sell. They most likely did not manufacture enough for the demand.

It is also likely only made on 1 or 2 lines of a manufacturing plant that has far too little QC personnel to begin with. They likely only test a handful out of each batch beyond simply powering up.

Care to help? Also, do I just edit the file name and change it to .icm instead of .txt?

I bought the 256GB PCIe SSD M.2 options. Is there a link where I can buy the correct size for mine?

Also is a heatsink needed for a 1TB (+8GB SSHD) Hybrid Drive as well or just for the M.2 drive to get the cooldown reduction?

 

3N3W3 is the heatsink for nvme, contact dell support online!

 

Pulling the batteries didn’t help, the pin dot light on the caps lock button is turned on as well, weather the caps lock is on or off. The back light in the rear had not turned solid and is no longer stuck flickering on and off like crazy. The Alienware head power key in front also refuses to light up. I have no clue what’s going on, but I did get to finally run a game on it and it plays very smoothly. I do believe that the killer WiFi is causing me to have very high ping tho, even while connected to Ethernet.

 

So I haven’t posted in awhile. I said I would post raid 0 results. So here they are (Spoiler, don't buy raid 0), as well as temp tests in game (far cry new dawn) and out of game, fps and settings.

I get around 60-100 fps in game, ultra settings and 1.7 resolution scale, around 65-80c in game, and 35-44c out of game

Only bad thing about the 51m is the sound. It's absolutely horrifying

I ordered mine in a hurry (AW18 now completely dead) - even asking for whatever they had on the shelf that could ship pretty much right away, and I ordered on 17th March.

Since they were late, I tried phoning in to change / upgrade the SSD configuration, as was told I was too late & I'd have to cancel the order & start again. Not wanting to WAIT ANY LONGER, I said no thanks. Cool I thought, mine will arrive Monday as promised after the delay.

I noted even that people were being offered 3-day shipping or whatever of new 51-m's via the online ads, yet today I check my Order Status, and see it is expected 30-April!?! See attached.

Is anyone else being given the run-around? Is there something I'm not aware of?

Exactly this is what i was afraid off. Combined load probably bleeds the whole system with hot air (on higher resolutions) making the cpu run hotter than indented (heat from the GPU flows to the CPU).

Have you undervolted your gpu ? I've shaved off probably around 50 watts with my current undervolt @1900Mhz making my gpu only reach 150watts instead of 200+.
I also play with unlocked framerate, maybe check if you cap it to 60 and undervolt the gpu it fares better. It better does (i hope it does)

 

yeah my GTX 1080 was in the same range. 1850mhz was ~140w and 1900mhz was ~ 150-160w

The UV results with my 2080 are not that great. Metro Exodus stock clcoks ~1800mhz @ 200w. UV 1850mhz ~ 170-180w with Dips to 19Xw. 4-7 Degree lower temps

 

Fan performance mode will just set the fans to 100% full time

CPU performance mode will try and keep turbo speed constantly and also allows you to select the OC levels in BIOS

 

Honestly it seems to be pretty random when they get shipped. Also every time they do an order or modify one they cancel and restart the whole order when I first ordered I had to do it and restart about 8 times over roughly an 8hr period. Seems like you just gotta not expect it and it will magically show up at your door one day. Mine was originally set for April 30th but came way earlier, I then sent it off for repairs and just got it back, and looks like I might have to send it back again, so just hope that they are doing yours right the first time.

There is brand shills everywhere. Don't need to be employees (or connected to). A quality mod or independent will never do this.

The led lights are controlled through cables. Could be loose. A single key is wird though.

 

I can confirm that it doesn't work. I got the same message I would get with a single 330W PSU. Running any game gets the same results of about 50% throttle on GPU performance.

Back to Eurocom this thing goes.

 

As expected. This PSU can't save Alienware 18 either. Dell's engineers locked you out. They want full control what you can and what you can not.

Edit. Ask for maxed out power from single 330w psu. Good for +400w. They could probably fix it <yesterday> if they was sure the single connection and power delivery allow it (If they knew it could handle the increased power).

This is the max overclock in the AWCC that my unit handled (+190 core clock +190 memory clock/ 9700k on 5.1 undervolted -80) anything above that 3d mark crashes or BSOD.

 

Well system just came in and I ran my first bench with a little overclocking , looks like breaking 30K graphics will be easy

Oh nice! i7 9700k with a 2080. The same config i will order soon Got any temps on CPU and GPU AloGod2012?

 

Still working on final settings and numbers, just increased the 9700k from 5ghz to 5.2ghz with a -90 under volt. Max temps in benching is around 92C. At 5ghz with a -150 under volt it didn’t go above 82C. I’m pleased given it’s all with the factory paste. GPU is very cool and doesn’t break 73C

I don’t play bf5, all I do is clock as high as I can to beat my scores in firestrike. Once I’m at the absolute max Then I set everything much lower and game on it.

Posible gpu to have 73-77 because many pads dont transfer heat because dont totch the heatsink..
