I put some liquid electrical tape on the hand soldered areas after giving a thorough cleaning with rubbing alcohol to prevent any corrosion in the future. This thing is great!

Hmm interesting... this goes back to my original curiousity if the resellers who say that they are now selling new revisions are either getting dooped with getting sent the same ol' motherboards from Dell and/or if the resellers had to send in their old inventory to replace it with the ones marked as "new" boards? If the second part is true than I feel bad for the resellers, because I know how impractical it can be to have to check every single one to confirm. This leads to the customer having to check when they are repasting and/or if something fails, only to find out that their mobo is of the older one; which then makes it ugly for everyone in between the customer and Dell. In this case the reseller who didn't now... yikes what a hot mess lol.
It's good that you're staying on top of showing the actual model numbers/dates on the mobo's etc... because that's the only way to tell for sure so good job with that.
Yea that stuff is great... just avoid breathing the fumes ...it's nasty stuff ...

I have a Dark Side of the Moon 9900k/2080 coming my way and should be delivered by may 24th. I will be checking mine when I get it because I am curious to see where I stand on the revised parts as well, I am going to kryonaut the CPU and Conductonaut for the GPU. Been using conductonaut on my Alienware 13 r3 for 2 years now and it works wonders. Also I have a quick question. Not that it matters to much but why do you think that with this amount of tech smashed into this system that they don't use USB 3.1 Gen 2 (10gbit) ports on this system? Again I know its not really super important but just wondering what you guys think on that. Other than that I am super excited to receive mine and put it through the ropes to see what I can get out of it and also see if it will have a hardware failure or not.
-
Personally, I don't mind them not using that. It's no big deal to me. Secondly, good luck with your machine. I hope you don't get parts shipped straight out of Dell's vegetable mart.
-
Yea I really don't have any usb devices that really need that bandwidth but was just wondering what some thought of it. As for the vegetable mart I really hope I don't lol.

Well I'm just sharing what I was told and we yet don't know for a fact without any official statement on AW's behalf what was upgraded or not (if any) so can't set everything in stone just yet. Why don't you share your findings to Azor and Khan again because you sound very convinced that you've got to the root of this debacle. We, the users of this forum are very grateful for your insightful posts and pictures so please doing what you've been doing all this time.
As for the boat I am in, I am in touch with Donald from Hidevolution for so long that I choose to believe what he told me about the revised parts and only time will tell whether it was just a fabricated lie or not. Their customer service up until this point have been flawless, their response through email very prompt and I cannot ask anything more out of my experience with them. The longevity and stability of the system I'm about to receive is the final straw for me to recommend Hidevolution to everyone as far as I am concerned.

I see that many of you have had free games with this system, are they available in Italy? if so how do you get them?
-
From dell you only get division 2 with the tobii eye tracker. The triple threat is only with 3’d party resellers it seems

Nothing was upgraded on the boards that came from HID. The only thing upgraded was on DGFF daughter boards. Somebody is not speaking the truth. I saw the entire board under a 5X zoom lens and I couldn't spot any signs of repairs on it. It's from a November 2018 batch as the sticker says. HID should ask Dell about this false statement of theirs and investigate what's going on.as I can see customers getting screwed over indiscriminately.c69k likes this.

I completely understand you mate and I'll definitely check my system thoroughly and compare it with the pictures you have already shared with us. Please do continue to enlighten us like you have.
Anyways, I just stumbled upon this video comparing a 2×8GB RAM configuration vs a 4×4GB RAM configuration and it seems that the latter is much better for gaming than 2 sticks dual channel mode. Is this really the case? What do you guys think? Is it worth it? If so, I'll add 2 more 8GB sticks on my system which is coming with 2×8GB sticks from Hidevolution.

That video has to be bogus, it's still dual channel memory. I bet he's either doing something to change the scores or he's missing some setting that is getting set differently.toughasnails, Rei Fukai, Vasudev and 1 other person like this. -
It depends upon a lot of factors. If RAM is plugged into slot 1 and 2, the speed is going to be garbage. If it's in slot 1 and 3, they're going to run in dual channel and speed is going to improve. In this video it should be because he plugged both ram modules in slots that were not paired. Slot 1 + slot 3 make a pair and so do slot 2 + slot 4. If you have 2 modules, plug them as a pair to run them at higher speeds. They won't run as good on slots that are not paired. With 4 slots filled, everything is running in pairs.VoodooChild, c69k, Vasudev and 1 other person like this.

I just installed AX200 in my laptop and got rid of the Killer 1550. The AX200 supports Wifi 6 while still supporting BT 5.0. The speed improvements seem to be significant so far and Bluetooth experience is noticeably smoother as well.

I got it from AliExpress, and that too very CHEAP! Shipped in 5 days to Singapore.

That price is higher than the one on AliExpress. Seems like a drop shipping link. -

You may not notice any differences unless you have an AX router.toughasnails and Vasudev like this. -
Absolutely worth it. It's so fast that your router might have a hard time giving it a real challenge in terms of internet traffic volume. You might want to upgrade your router to wifi-6 compatible one as well.

So with a AC router it’s still much better? Hmm, for 35 bucks why not.

The one that I shared is a verified store in China. I buy a lot of stuff from them and their prices are GOOD. I used to be on the "Amazon is good, everything else is a no-go" bandwagon until a few years back when I discovered some vendors simply drop-shipping via AliExpress haha! This world of e-commerce is kind of deceptive at times. Best thing about AliExpress is that whenever you are not satisfied, you open a dispute and take ALL your money back. Something that is relatively tougher with Amazon.XxAcidSnowxX and hmscott like this.

I've bought a lot of stuff from Ali, but I know a lot of their stuff is fake. I also like getting stuff next day, that alone is worth the couple of bucks to me. Plus I've never had issues returning stuff to Amazon, nor with getting a refund. I'd rather buy from Killer directly and know I'm getting a real card without worrying about it.toughasnails, Vasudev, Papusan and 3 others like this. -

Well I don't mind waiting for a few days if that saves 8-10 bucks. I also bought fakes from Ali but got my money back every time while keeping the products as well.

Invest in a set of plastic pry tools and use them to pop open the clips gently. I've opened mine around 25-30 times so far and each and every clip is intact.

I thought so as well so I wanted the expert opinions here on NBR before anywhere else. I've been planning to upgrade to a 4×8GB configuration so I'll test this theory out myself sometime in the future.

I was waiting for you to jump on this a little earlier actually considering how you always go for the latest and greatest.
Please do let us know if the speed bumps are considerable on a normal router than only on a WiFI 6 capable system for everyday tasks since you've already used a 1550 module in your laptop.
Hidevolution has upgraded my wifi card to a 1650 for free so kudos to them for that and I'm looking forward to testing it.

I feel ya there. It's not taking apart the back that's the issue, its putting it back on. It takes way too much force sometimes to put it back on.HaloGod2012 likes this. -
It doesn't take any force if you align the screws nicely and snap the hooks back together in a balanced way before tightening the screws all the way down. It's really smooth actually. If it needs force, it's telling you to balance things properly.HaloGod2012 likes this.

It's more so the ones in the center, toward the front that give me issues, like they don't align correctly. The others go into place pretty easy. -
SacraficeMyGoat Notebook Evangelist
Yeah I'll have to fumble with it. It seems if I start with the side clips, the middle clips are harder to get into place, but if I start in the middle, the side clips become harder to insert. -

After opening mine 4 times, it goes on and comes off much easier now. Plus how much is a new bottom panel? I would just order a spare, can’t be more than 30 to 40 bucks

Why Ax200 instead of same improved 1650, since they said they tweaked theirs a bit better than default ax200

How are you all unlocking voltage control for the 2080? I’m trying to increase the core so I can clock it higher

Google how to unlock Voltage control in MSI Afterburner. Just need to edit a file and replace it.
That said, I dont think it does anything.
