Yeah! It’s a no brainer. My old Clevo had CRAP installed from factory. I used Prolimatech PK-1 (best at the time) and some crazy good pads from Frozen CPU and the combo shaved like 15-20 degrees off my 680M under load. Amazing!

It’s the easiest, most cost effective fix. I encourage everyone to do this first and see where it gets you. Consider messing with undervolting/underclocking after if you’re somehow not satisfied with how chill your system will be (I doubt you will).

Also, everyone is crazy about knowing what temps are “under load” and running Prime95, among other PC torture tests; this is absolutely idiotic. Our computers will likely NEVER face sustained load scenarios like the ones (artificially) created by these programs. You’re only shortening the life of your components in the process, only to satisfy your curiosity and find out “oh, my computer's temps reach 100 °C when I run this stupid burn-in program, how interesting.”, and NEVER see those temps in real use applications.

All the above are my opinions, not trying to sway anyone or start arguments, so if you respond “challenging” my thinking, don’t be insulted when I completely ignore you, lol.

    :)

DorKNight (sorry guys, can't resist, every time I hear this name, - I get all sorts of ForKnives, PorkHides and StorkBites popping in my head), isn't demanding at all and shouldn't tax the resources too much. That voltage and clocks...Stock cooling is terrible...

I’m really not too bothered by heat (they are built to handle it), better acoustics is my main target.

Me, but you have to pay me translating that one hour video on previous post about Area 51m on Japan Alienware TV, as you pay me €25 (¥3000) which was my old hour tarif in 2011, Special price for NBR member :D I’ll show you where they mentioned that.

Why on earth can't Dell follow Intel specs (DDR4-2666) for 9th gen cpu's if they offer this cpu setup in their web sales page?
    upload_2019-2-14_0-4-27.png
Their hired software/fimware engineers play with the firmware. Maybe call it Russian Roulette?

    Btw. More results from Area-51m (9900K - RTX 2080)

so from your chart, to run 32GB of mem you must have 2 16gb sticks? so 4 8gb wont yield 32? Don't seem right?

I got some news. Had another call today, looks like everything is fine with my order. It must be February 26th, but I hope faster. It is not shipped yet, they said they gonna send me tracking number soon. Also something about power cord, like I get extra one, honestly didn't get it. I just hope I get my order as soon as possible.

Dell did try to call me today. But I was too busy at work to pick up. Plus I didn't recognize the number. They did leave me a phone number and an extension number. So this is promising. I'll have to call tomorrow and see what they have to say. Wish me luck. ;)

I said this earlier on another post... they’re calling everyone to let you know that they had a configuration error on their end, something about “a power cord” not being included on their parts list on the back end (even if your confirmation says you’re getting both power adapters), like the post before yours that I’m quoting. They have to cancel, rebuild your order, and resubmit it. My order was to arrive Feb. 20, now Feb. 27 thanks to their inadequacies! Sad, but can’t do anything about it.

Want to add, that now I see below the order number and shipping date: "Your custom-built item is complete.". Not sure if I had this before, status still "Confirmed". Let you know if any changes, but meanwhile let's discuss prices for the laptop. I guess everyone got random price, someone has full price from the website and someone cheaper, I'm not counting those with student discount, etc.

That config is $3,949.99 pre tax... They gave you a massive discount. Good job, not sure how you pulled it off without having any student/military verification! I had to scan and send in paperwork!

I posted this a while back, but since we are on pricing:

    My order:
    Lunar White, 1080p Gsync w/tobii, i7-9700k, rtx 2080, 8gb ram, 1tb sshd, 5 years warranty+accidental
    Subtotal: $3450.00
    Tax: $284.60
    Total: $3734.60

    More details:
    Original Price:
    Price as configured: $4124.81
    Tax $340.27
    Total $4465.08
    Discount: $730.48
    Discount Percentage: 16.36%
    Dell Advantage Rewards (6%): $224.08

I'm putting in my own SSD/Ram options since all of their options are trash or grossly overpriced. I have a Samsung 970 Pro 500gb ready for the OS and 2TB Adata SSD for everything else ready to go. 2 sticks of 16gb Corsair Vengeance 2666 as well.

The way I see it, after tax the laptop cost me about $3000, but I also threw on a fat amount of warranty. That has come in handy to me so many times. Either by getting me a new laptop down the line, or dramatically increasing its value for resale.

To add prime+Heaven. There’s 2 different users there on german forum, didn’t read all off that. But @captn.ko is commenting and get in touch with them there so he knows better, one of them get 4,9 by undervolting cpu.

Atm we dont know the voltage, the power and the clocks... only CPU temps in an unknown scenario ...

IF this was realy prime+heaven for 20mins (without lifting the back of the notebook) and the CPU was able to hold 4.7ghz, THEN the temps are not so bad...

Once we confirm the temps and performance under load and FINALLY see the power bricks properly I suppose the next question is how much would LM+Fuji or similar improve temps by?

Because I haven't seen them shown properly anywhere. It is like every review PURPOSELY avoided showing them and that is concerning to me as they might be huge and totally impractical for mobility purposes.

Also, did I read something about this not fitting into a 17" alienware backpack?

I posted a few times how when I called that everything was fine. Then suddenly it wasn't. So there is a disconnect from the build team and the customer service side for sure. It's a shame.

I wonder did anyone get compensation for having to reorder? Or have they just honored the price you were gonna pay? I kinda expect atleast a warranty extension as a token of good will on their part.

For this price I was hoping they had improved the aesthetics and maybe even slimmed the physical size down. Nope, its a generic big and bulky 330w and a smaller 180w.

Hmmmm 150W power limit 1? Interesting, it seems like it does have that 119W full system, 136W CPU only limitation looking at that 129W average.

But I wonder if it's possible to use XTU to keep it at 150W. I mean PL1 seems to be 150W according to hwinfo. Unless it's a firmware thing.

    Of course.

Should I create a benchmark thread or leave it all in here?

Please let me know if this price is worth it? I’m not sure but I believe the 9900 has the better heatsink?

    9900k $450
    32gb ram $200
    2080 rtx $450
    Raid 0 2x256ssd and 1tb hybrid $100
Lunar light g sync and tobii display 144hz $250
4 years premium support plus with accidental $690
    3 year battery replacement $89

Msrp with tax 8.125% NY $5436

My price $4327 with tax. Total discount $1109

Thoughts on this? Is warranty worth it I can certainly take out or spec down?

Also $260 dell cash back as well for using financing 0% 12 months.
