I knew early adopter from Germany Alienware forum play Metro Exodus from the game launch on his 51M, I just checked the forum he didn’t mention about bsod due gaming at all, they mentioned bsod only because of kaspersky antivirus, idk quite sure since it was quick read around 20 pages, only about benchmarks, bags, comparison with old 18 inch Alienware, temperature and Backlightbleed. I found some temperature testing BF1, and one of Clevo vs Alienware fight above was mentioning result from German 51m users k54, and this’s his benchmarks temperature getting that OC score, but on gaming it’s not as high as that OC profile and he prefer stock setting since OC isn’t bringing huge FPS bump.

No telling. In any case it wouldn't happen until next year. It would be nice to see an AMD option for the 51m though. -
That was my message deleted from reddit looks like I hurt AW's feelings. You know reddit sucks now they were bought out bunch of trigger happy children. Anyways original message below.
For those of your who don't know this. Alienware is now on public blast for over pricing pc components to increase there market margins. This involves their markets stock performance ect. Take a closer look at the products dell includes in there top end flag ship models. Take a close look at how they marketed the AW 51M top end model at CES 2019 hyping up their products then when production started and laptop were being distributed they changed internal components last minute while holding on to the market with false advertising from YouTube videos to the details found on all languages of Dells website. They have been lying right to your face. And all the AW fan Bois are in denial that they would ever do such a thing. Well let me tell you something. When Alienware was once upon a time the leader of PC gaming desktops and laptops. This was while the company was small and the QC and communication wasn't dictated by the money hungry Dell corporate decision makers. AW will never be as it once was. You can throw a body kit on a ugly car to make it look like a lambo. But at the end of the day it's a lambo on the outside and a crap box on the inside. Careful how you guys spend you money. Dell Can claim xotic and HID are not authorized resellers why would that matter. Dell India the guys you buy from the phone will sell either xotic or HID in bulk with massive discounts all day. Why because they need to make commissions and support them self's. HID and xotic are both people who are easy to communicate with and well knowledged on the products they are selling. Call Dell talk to lead sales managers in India they don't know kaka about the computers. They read line for line exactly what's available on the internet anyone can see. They don't take classes on the products they could not discuss internal parts. They simple get a group of Indians sales team together to do a powow before a new product release and they push a product. How many times have you called dell and they try to sell you on the product by telling you if you don't like it just return it. Lol don't sound like someone who believes in the product. Just my 2 cents.Ashtrix, Mythbuster, KozE and 9 others like this. -

Rose colored glasses bro. Before Dell Alienware was just a high priced Clevo re-seller with cover mods. I know, I had the original Area 51m D9T based on a 17 Clevo.
Dell made them great with AW m17x series and m18x series. @Mr. Fox, and @Prema worked endlessly taking those systems to the limit.
Dell Screwed things up for the enthusiast crowd shortly after releasing the revised AW 17 and 18 series.
I am no fanboy (of any corporation), but coming from the manufacturing trade... There was no "real" amount of money to be made from changing designs again. This was most likely a case of 1 hand not talking to another, and a corporate ****show of a bureaucracy. I doubt they were malicious in intent. Just disorganized and ignorant.
The way Dell handles misinformation is toxic though. They Deny and pass off half truths and sometimes just crap up. I bet this is ingrained in their corporate culture (usually where the worst stuff comes from). The dudes on top looking for employees to blame below them; rather then support them or admit any fault.
Yes and no. By far their bottom line comes from the business end and contracts with businesses. Their consumer / gaming end makes up much less of their profit pie... but gaming is their only fast growing market.
Dell, HP, Apple, etc. all have a similar too high price for upgrades. This is mostly paying for their lack of being lean and nimble. Paying for corporate bureaucracy and overhead on a huge scale. They gouge on the upgrades to make up for repairs too. RAM and Storage are still the most common parts to need replacement under warranty. -
Current setup as I mentioned a slow hum. Before the change at 90c+ it was an engine taking off.

Man, that actually really bothers me that he did that. He even called back trying to get me to reconsider his offer and I told him I was actually just checking and didn’t need his help. My only concern is that I went through ebates for 15% cashback, I don’t want to mess with the invoice in any way until that money shows up pending.... But maybe its taking so long to post because of what that guy did.

There are a lot of ports on the M18x that get regular usage that just don't exist any more on computers, and I'm convinced its for the sake of selling them to you later. I use the displayport, HDMI, standard USBs, card reader, and expresscard slot (for live tv/rca capture) all the time
-
Spartan@HIDevolution Company Representative
If one orders the 9900K he gets a different heatsink than the 9700K or are they all the same? You know how with Clevo P870DM3 you had the vapor chamber heatsink if you ordered an SLI setup?
-
7pipe heatsinks + side vents are the same for 2070 / 2080 models, while the 8700 / 2060 does not get side vents
edit: 9700k 2070/80 buyers do get same HS as 9900k 2070/80 buyers, (8700 2070/80 buyers should get it too)
Your 9900k 2080 purchase will get the top parts (& the HS isn't a vapour chamber design)
In section for fan sizes, it is either a mix of 19mm & 21.5mm, or, perhaps 8700 / 2060 gets smaller 19 while better configs get 21.5. Someone can check the fan part#'s, see who makes it, see if they're different etcLast edited: Mar 4, 2019Amroth, raz8020 and Spartan@HIDevolution like this. -

Just FYI, the Alienware subreddit is not run by anyone affiliated with Alienware/Dell, just normal people who own these products. -
When you spend 3 hours trying to figure out why your 9900k is blue screening but your 8700k is working just fine and then it hits you! "you have throttle stop undervolting setup in task scheduler"... I feel pretty dumb right about now
-
I agree with you guys. Even though I ordered one for work, I'm really salty about the poor port selection. My 2011 m17x R3 has a great selection (even HDMI In!) including the very important SD card slot.
This is the kind of cost-cutting that just makes Dell look stupid in the eyes of their target demographic for this product.Spartan@HIDevolution likes this. -

I know since I tried buy from them etc and they just keep telling me they only help and make repays and customer service. So send mail to them tell them what happened and tell them to remove his name from your order and tell them you want some % off.
THe sales guy did for 100% sure do something iligal according to their own Dells policies. -
Vapor chamber yeah right. He keeps lying to win over customers. Shady advertising.
I bet his engineers are not skilled enough to integrate pipes with a vaporchamber for higher heat transfer than their current heatsinks. -

Is it fairly easy to set up an UV on start up with Throttlestop?
Previously, I used Intel XTU on my 17 R5, but I had to set and reapply the UV each time i powered on/off, and sometimes it wouldn't even apply.
Would you mind linking me to a guide on how to set up throttlestop with an UV to apply each time I start up my machine? -

That's not the case anymore. They've probably noticed that of their mainstream users are only on Reddit, and the critics reside on NBR. By intergrating Reddit in to one of their communication channels, it's easier to censor things like calling them out on their bad Q&A and bad marketing shemes (like with the heatsink).
just my 2 cent's. Azor and his soldier haven't visited NBRF in ages, probably cause i would start a crusade to prove him wrong about his statements he made in the past (regarding why he/AW stopped being awsome and began taking money from a corporate devil) even NBR themselfs are critics of AW and have made posts about the 17 r4 and 15 r3 debacle.Cass-Olé, Papusan and Spartan@HIDevolution like this. -

That's a post on the Alienware subreddit by their Official reddit account. They don't have a subreddit, so they posted and contacted the mods in the Alienware Sub to let them know they now have an official reddit account and they will be offering support through the unofficial alienware subreddit. But I can assure you they do not run the Alienware sub, nor are they mods, simply an account that follows the subreddit to help solve issues that are posted to the alienware subreddit (because 90% of the posts on that sub are people asking for help with issues.)
I personally think this is a step in the right direction, as a lot of people post on the Alienware sub reddit (assuming its run by alienware, even though it states in the info that it is not run by alienware, or anyone that works there, just people who own alienwares or are curious about purchasing them.)
I agree 100% Alienware has done some shady things and they aren't what they used to be, but all major companies have flaws. I have a feeling this year and the following years will change drastically in terms of support. They seem to be putting themselves out there and reaching out to customers to help solve issues and answer questions. It's a step in the right direction if you ask me, and with the re-release of the 51m, that shows they're at least attempting to go back to their roots. This is the first revision, so its going to take some time to work out the kinks.
On a side note, my 51M will be arriving Tuesday. Can't wait to get my hands on it, but knowing the luck I had with my 17 R5, I'm a bit apprehensive. -
But you do know the moderator, is an AW fan just like @Papusan proved. It's not a moderator, he censors and he's done it more often. That all major companies have flaws is true, but you do also forget that those companies that have flaws and actively try to mascarade them and act like nothing is going on, those companies get called out and viled. Apple is also still battleling louis rossman, just because Apple keeps deploying anti-consumer practices. And Facebook, since camebridge debacle they haven't been out of sight of the news and that's all because people got fed up with Facebook and now Youtube Netflix and disney (And even EA) have trouble making money. Those are all companies with flaws that extend to malicious practices regarding selling of products (and manipulating customers/consumers)

Alright boys I took it out. Looks nice.
Out of the box...for some reason it was running 4.2GHz all core:
I used TS to set the all core multiplier to 4.7Ghz as I think this is stock... hit 100C:
5Ghz max speed fans 100C and thermal throttled about half-way in the test to 4.6Ghz
More to come tomorrow. The stock HDD is unbearable I can't wait to get an SSD in here. I literally turned on the laptop.....set up windows..ran cinebench LOL
From the quick runs I did , thermals are the issue not power..yet..gonna have to bring these temps down by a lot to see how power fairs. Maybe tomorrow.

Yeah he is, whether he removes posts that make AW look bad or not, to make AW look better, I disagree.
I can tell you the sub is filled with negative posts regarding Dell/Alienware (mainly due to their garbage customer service) and that probably gets old. Hell, I get sick of seeing all of the negative posts as well, theres atleast a couple daily and I've contributed to that as well. Sometimes people need to vent, and lately its just more negative posts than positive.
By this point, everyone should be aware Dell has less than desirable customer service and shady ethics. My point being, they most likely don't want a toxic environment for their subs. I don't know the mod personally, nor do I talk to him on a regular basis, this is just my assumption based on what I've seen.
There's tons of issues with Dell/AW that need to be sorted out, mostly on the customer service/sales side, but here I am purchasing my 2nd machine even though I had various issues with my first that they failed to fix. Even had issues ordering my 51m (as did most) but it was the best option for myself in terms of a desktop replacement. Though if it weren't for their variety of warranty options and their financing plans, I probably would have went elsewhere. Not happy I spent my money @ Dell AGAIN for the second time, but i have hope with the amount of attention they're getting with the 51m, they'll work on their problems. It might not be an instant change, but they seem to be headed in the right direction.
This is just my opinion though, we all have one. I'm happy to have a civil discussion on the topic though.Rei Fukai, Cass-Olé and propeldragon like this. -

Man your 8700k gets hot dude. Is yours not delidded? Mine runs at 5ghz with no undervolt and stays 80c or lower on performance fans. My best cinebench score is 1540+ on 5ghz though so likely i am hitting a power throttle situation. I am looking forward to what you can pull out of the 8700k in your system for comparison.

I think most people who want the SD card slot is related to using cameras, not general storage. Having to use a dongle SD card reader is annoying...steberg likes this.

Going to have to disagree. If one makes claims at being the top of the line, the best, the world's fastest, then all these excuses should have already been taken care of. And as for the super high temps. That is a well known Dell tactic. They always try to send to much voltage to the cpu for some unknown reason. Not sure where it states one needs 1.35V at stock.
The problem is the heat sink is unified. not sure who thought that was a good idea when desktops are having a hard time keeping it contained on "stock" heat sinks. (Not talking about aftermarket ones)Last edited: Mar 4, 2019 -

has anyone ordered one without 2.5 inch ssd? if yes, is the ssd-drive-caddy needed for upgrading with an ssd later shipped even though? just wondering as i would put in a 2tb ssd i still have and don't see any sense in ordering a sshd just for making sure the caddy is included.

You hit the nail on its head (some works/talk even close with Dell). Hide it behind such statement as this *feel that this post was of poor quality* is just sad. This won't adress Dell's problems/help their customers.
Thanks. +rep. Yeah, power shouldn't be an problem due the PL2 short limits. But 4.7GHz (stock) should provide about same score as the throttling 5.0GHz clock speed.
Can you remember what Package power you reached with mentioned clock speed?
1540+ is more like 4.6GHz. Have you tried lower clock speed (to stop hitting your power throttle situation) to provide same or better scores?Last edited: Mar 4, 2019Ashtrix, Rei Fukai, Cass-Olé and 1 other person like this. -
