Any 51m owners have an issue with Supportassist app not opening? Mine opens but I get a loading sign and it just keeps loading. Left it for an hour and still won't do anything.

Edit: Found a fix. Contact Dell support live chat and have them fix it. Idk what the issue was but yeah...

Hmm I paid without taxes 5100 for the same build but with 64gb ram and dual 1tb ssd with 4/4 year support and accidental.
You could have gotten it even lower on the return for sure.

Why is there no news for Azor's post. He said something about QHD 120hz screens will be available by the end of the month !! For the m17 so why not the 51m?

So I've run into an annoying issue. I've been using my laptop on off for none gaming stuff today and had it unplugged or just hooked up to the 180w power supply. Sat down to game some more ((I plugged in the 330w with the 180w without rebooting)) and I notice my FPS was tanked. Thought it was a bug and fired up msi afterburner and wither 3 to see exactly what I was getting. I was getting 9 fps!

So logically I rebooted the system and now it's working fine. But that got me thinking. So after gaming for a bit I turned my game off and decided to unplug the 330w and plug it back in. Sure enough I'm getting terrible fps again. And once again I reboot the system with both power supplies connected and the issue is gone.

So anytime I want to use the system to game after using only one powers supply I have to reboot the system. Is this what everyone else is experiencing? It's not game breaking but it is annoying.

No clue where the DASFLASH14 coupon came from, got the same message when I tried it.

If you go to Dells website and click on the SAVE12 banner you’ll see the computers/laptops that it works on, the 51m isn’t part of the list.

EDIT: Looks like DASFLASH14 may be for the UK only

I agree with @Ultra_Male contact dell support for that. I haven't seen anyone else say they have this issue. But if that's a case I bet I'll return mine.

It's after hours so I will contact in the morning. Anyone that has one should try this out and see if it's a system wide issue. I can tell you from experience that if multiple people group up an issue can be fixed. But if it's one person it tends to get brushed aside.

So good news. I did some poking around. I went into the Area 51m's bios and found power charge options. Mine was set to adaptive. I switched it to standard and rebooted with only the 180w. Got the warning I'd only get basic performance. Once I was in windows and ready to fire up a game again I plugged the 330w back in and launched witcher 3. No more 9 fps. Thank Vader. So if anyone has this issue or you see someone with it please pass this along.

There is a custom option and it lets you choose the charger does and doesn't charge between a certain battery percentage. By default it seems to be 50-90 on the area 51m. So below 50 it starts charging and stops at 90.

I didn't notice my laptop doing this before though. Think I'm gonna shoot Frank Azor a tweet and see if he can give us a clear answer.

Thanks, although that is a workaround and thank you for sharing that with us, most people don't want to disable the Adaptive charging as to not overcharge their battery and have it deteriorate in performance with time so we still need to report this bug

Does the Alienware factory installed Windows contain any bloatware? More importantly, does it come pre-installed with any Antivirus? (I hope not)

Sorry guys, I've been having severe pain in my teeth and am getting my wisdom tooth removed Saturday. Testing has been slowed for now, but I'll do things slowly and get them up.

    OC Lv1 is 5Ghz
    OC Lv2 is 5.2Ghz

From what I could tell, they don't work right. However, I'll test them again since I now have updated to 1.2.0 and in the BIOS there is OC Lv1, 2, and 3.

Are those your best scores at those clocks? :D

If so, I hope they improve, because I plan to exceed those :p

I think a fresh install well help a lot.

Yes, I have two sticks. Dell factory default 2x4GB DDR4 2666Mhz.

Hmmm I'll give them a try maybe tomorrow.

Yasssss my suspensions may be correct! I had a feeling that tobii aware was causing the point difference. I'll kill all non required processes and see if that is the case here as well.

I'll test this tonight if I install a game LOL. The BIOS complains about insufficient PSU even with single 330w attached.

What's this?? Is it a official app?

There's not much bloatware. A lot of windows apps though. I plan to clean install myself when I receive my SSD.

Hope it goes well with your tooth bro.

That is an official app but now it's only on the Windows Store so I copy/pasted the files after guidance from Mr. Fox and uploaded the ZIP so now it's the portable version, works 100%

Both of mine also have the touchpad "loose" issue. Also have a bit of screen bleeding, not sure if it's bad enough to issue a return though..

Playing Destiny 2 for an hour and max temps reach around 91C. Have some Kryonaut coming tomorrow so I think I'll repaste. Gonna run some more benches and stress tests first though.

Oh I meant highest scores for

    4.7Ghz stock
    5.0Ghz OC

    and I'm assuming 2270 is 5.3Ghz?

I'll try and hit in the 22XX.

Has anyone gotten higher than my 2150 on an Area-51M yet? There were some posts earlier but I forgot if they were even in the 21XX range lol

Nagging glitch: 2400 memory won't classify it as 'world's most powerful', not until Dellware can fix it, & so meet its own definitional standards & of course justify its use as marketing hype. Umar's days of silence re: 2666 proceeds to Day 6 & counting ...

I only did the stock as a reference point, since people did not really know where that was.

And yes, my friend, you are the current record holder for A51M. (Stock and overclocked)

Unless you count @Err0xx with his er...ummm...2280 or was it 2380 score or something else for stock score. lol

Umar's tweet came across that way to me. I knew from HID's website that they were an authorized reseller and stated on here that Umar was full of BS, so I emailed @Donald@HIDevolution and told him about the reddit thread, which I think he already knew about, and it popping up on here. He assured me that they were an authorized reseller and that the truth would come out.

So I've placed an order for a
    9900K
    2080
8gigs *( will install my own)
1tbh SSDH haha will replace this with nvme drives that I already have.
    144hz
    Dark side.
    So few questions

    1. Do the nvidia drivers still need to be from dell or can we install the ones from the site?
    2. Does the unit come with the M.2 Heat sinks when you don't order any m.2's? if not anyone installed it without them and any issues? And is there a link to buy them?

Well I installed XTU. I am now able to undervolt. For some reason TS undervolt isn't sticking for me. How is everyone else undervolting? Anyone got TS working for undervolt?

Power limits can be increased but do not stick. Same with ICC max. Looks like none of them stick, but they are adjustable.

    1. Originally, you need to install the driver from Dell, but after that you can update to the latest one via Geforce Experience.
    2. Other users have reported that you won't get heat sinks if you didn't order a M.2 disk.

I can't get XTU to work. It says I need to restart to apply, which I do, but it doesn't apply. Never had to restart to apply an UV on my old machine.

Any ideas why it's doing this? Going to try TS tomorrow.

    1. You can also use the driver direct from Dell's website if you don't like GFE. Just make sure when you manually search for the driver that you change the driver type from 'Standard' to 'DCH'.

Same here. I'm also getting error messages. How can I tell for sure that the undervolt is sticking? Also, am I doing it wrong? I'm adjusting these:

Core Voltage Offset, Cache Voltage Offset, Processor Graphics Voltage Offset

Finally, how can I tell I am completely back to default settings?

So here are the official power limits per XTU

    Power Limit 1 150W (Long)
    Power Limit 2 210W (Short)

4.7Ghz stock with -0.100V undervolt uses around 140W in Cinebench load

I'm only lowering the core voltage offset, nothing else.

This is how I confirm if it's working:

Run Cinebench R15 while having CPU-Z open to see voltage (1.300v)

Open XTU and do offset (-0.100V)

Run Cinebench R15 with CPU-Z open (Observe new 1.195v~)

    Success

In terms of TS I did the same and the voltage seemed to not go down.

It was just the core offset voltage, didnt touch anything else. Ill mess with it tomorrow. Hopefully I can get an UV going.

Is it the Core VID value I should look at? That value fluctutates wildy for me, and are never 1.300v to begins with.

What tests should I run on my 51m (9700k/2070?) I've already run userbench, firestrike, and time spy, with and without the alienware OC profile 2.

You can check my scores if you search 9700k/2070 notebook. It's the top score atm, but they seem low. It looks like the 8th gen 8750H/2070 outscored my machine. Should I run a manual OC? Any tips on where to start?
