Yeah. Type winver.exe and you will see the OS build.

    17763.379

Edit: Currently downloading an update for .NET Framework (3.5 and 4.7.2) Doubtful these updates will fix anything, but ill update.

Correct, it shows that current version. It's currently installing .NET Framework for the 1809 update.. Though I don't believe this update is going to fix anything, ill update..

Yeah.. Still getting very low FPS. Going to resort to a reinstall I guess. Ill let you know how it goes.

Edit: Going to try a repair through SupportAssist OS Recovery first.

Edit: Repair did nothing, currently reinstalling. Anything I should do to avoid this update being downloaded again?

Currently AW has a 190W TDP limit on the RTX 2080
    MSI has a 150W limit
Clevo also has a 150W limit
    ASUS has a 200W limit

these are all software limits, the hardware can handle 250W+ easily.

AW will release a 200W vBIOS (through BIOS update) for the Area-51m in April.

Oh perfect! I thought this was a hardware thing where you get whatever RTX card Dell installed at the time and was feeling a bit disappointed since I am getting the 190W version with mine but this is great if it's simply a matter of a VBIOS update to get 200W.

    Thanks bro

You do understand that the 10 watt difference will not make any difference in pretty much everything, short of benchmarking, right? Personal opinion only

Do you really need to use that plier tool to get the bottom panel out? I wish it was as easy as my MSI GT75 Titan where you just slide it down and then you can pop it out

    "Benchmarked" lol

The laptop needs tuning. If I can find my damn kill-a-watt meter I can start doing some of my other testing for my review...

lol I can attest to this...I had a 78W MSI 1060 in my M18xR2. Flashed the Clevo 88W BIOS. It helped me gain like:

    https://www.3dmark.com/compare/fs/15564321/fs/16841964

    What plier tool?

what I love most about this laptop is they have all the 4 SODIMMs right under the bottom panel so no need to disassemble the entire freakin' laptop to upgrade or replace the RAM modules!

    @ssj92

With regards to the two power adapters, does it matter where the 180W or the 330W plugs insert into the laptop or they're the same ports and either one could be plugged in anywhere?

Can you hook me up with the white Alienware wallpaper shown below and possible all the wallpapers that shipped with your laptop in like a ZIP file?

No, it can be in any order. Also I addressed your "plier" issue above with my personal video. First time removing is hard but I didn't use anything but my hands to remove it...

LOL yeah that was a stock run of each vBIOS. The 88W did net me a slight overclock higher than 78W but nothing super special. Both were still within 12k GPU score. I did find another vBIOS that got me 13k but that wasn't a 10W difference.

Sure, give me until later today. It's only that white one....no others from what I could find in the OEM drive.

Ordered my Area 51m on March 8th and I am expecting it to arrive the 19th (according to dell customer support). I am upgrading from the old Alienware laptop that is rocking a GTX 970m and i7 6700 HQ. Couple of questions: When getting your laptop, did windows come preinstalled on an SSD if your config had one or the HDD? Will I need to redo the thermal paste or is stock fine? Thank you!

    I'd redo the thermal paste

Windows is basically stored in the bios (well the key is). Make a disk or usb drive with a windows 10 bootable copy and make sure you don't enter another key whenever you reformat, just click to ignore it..

Pretty much 100% thermal related at this point tho.

Even with no CPU overclock i can't get past +175 OC on GPU.
And 5.3 is not stable on my unit.

I'm not sure what else to do at this point hahaha.
I've done every trick in the book i knew of at this point.

Thanks for the help and tips.
    I appreciate it!

So I haven't done the Dell ordering process in a while.

Of course, been checking my orders page like six times a day. Just updated and I can view my packing slip. Packing slip shows a ship date of 3/17 (A Sun).

Is the packing slip always accurate, or could it be a guesstimate? I was hoping for a delivery this Thur or Fri, but at least 3/17 means I should receive it by the last estimated day - the 19th.

Hummm, maybe the Dell card is hard locked at this 175 mark=2100Mhz?. I do know that all the 2080's are locked to 2100Mhz core max. So maybe on the Dell card this maxes you out.
200 seems to max me out on core. Anything above it and it's pretty much crash city.

I guess we'll find out as more people get their units.

Thanks for the help Johnksss, you helped me push my OC by quite a lot.
I'll be back when i repaste my unit with LM or when there will be a new bios/vbios.

I personally use Noctua NT-H1 for my rigs, but most of them are overclocked and it works great for overclocking. I don't have the Area 51m yet, and I'm personally considering liquid metal.... But I wouldn't suggest that unless you know what you're doing

If you ordered yours the same day as me (March 8th) according to customer support I talked to today at dell, they said my laptop is in the "final stages" and is estimated to ship the 17th or the 18th and guaranteed delivery the 19th. I asked if there was a way to request faster shipping and was more willing to pay, but the support agent said It wasn't doable and said I could get lucky and be here by Saturday. Also, my packing slip is set for March 17th too.

Awesome, thank you so much! I was looking into Noctua NT-H1 as well. I always been interested in trying liquid metal, but never done it and quite worried I'll damage something.

Awesome! Thank you! I actually ordered on the 7th, so I'll hope for a surprise on Saturday. Regardless, though, it'll be here before Sekiro (knock on wood), so I'm happy! Gonna try to take that day off, go to my buddy's place, and we'll both play through our own copies but together.

Me too bro, mine just arriving tomorrow I’m so exited about it, the problem is I’m out tomorrow all day so let’s see if someone of my flat mates are here to collect it, as my delivery date said Thursday and I explicitly took Thursday off just to wait all day for the computer and now is coming a day earlier

It is not black, it is a dark gray and two tone as well. Just a more subtle two tone.

Fortunately reinstalling windows fixed the issue. No idea what caused it but it's all up to date with the latest drivers and windows update and destiny 2 is now working as it should.

pretty sure that is just the sheen of the light off the softer touch matte surface. mine is black on black on black. no dark gray 2 tone anywhere to be found.

Might be from the matte finish. I haven't got mine in yet. In every video I have seen of it it looks dark gray as well. Even with it being matte black you still get a two tone look from the matte surfaces of the laptop contrasting to the piano black shiny surfaces on the front and bezels around the screen, the plastic over the exhaust is not the same as the laptop body, and the A 51 on the back is not matte.

The RTX 2080 seems to be a better sample. Normaly i have bad luck with silicon lottery -> proof is my Dell 9900k that is not able to run CB with 5ghz below 1.25v... :(

    3. my notebook make silent electrical coil wine/ buzz. Its gone with cpu @ 3ghz, and barely hearable with 4.7... not sure if i accept it or let Dell change the mobo. Will decide this when i have my new CPU

    4. NO light bleed
