Better than 441.2 and 12 that's for sure.. And about like 84c on 200w bios with 200w being used, and maybe 80-81c max with 180w undervolt. Mostly 79-80c tho

What games or apps do you run? Wonder if anyone with the same spec can maybe compare their temps across the same games or apps if they use them to give you an idea if this is the expected temps. -
Hello all,
I apologize, but I know here somewhere is the tutorial for a "fresh windows instal"
Can you lads send me the link please ( because is here near 2K pages)

Just curious. I've been using x264 benchmark to stress my 9900k. x264 / x265 is about the toughest thing I'll do with this thing. What do you all typically stress test with?

so after watching this Im kinda agreeing that the KS is just a factory oc 9900k which most 9900k can go to 5ghz as it is... So should I not buy a KS or just get one to have the 5ghz already there and undervolt to make it easier.. I don't see a point to lowering the clock speed because paying. Over $500 for that 5ghz out of the box premium I guess. But if underclocking a 9900k is better to do cause of heat then I'll just buy a 9900k for cheaper.

Bitwits 9900k was probably a case of 'luck of the draw', that ended up being a decently binned P0, prior mitigation fixes. Most 9900k's out there now are R0 stepping, that overclock worse.
The KS offers higher chance of getting a good bin that runs on less voltage clock pr clock when compared to the 9900k. But as @Papusan mentioned, IPC took a small performance hit due to mitigation fixes.Last edited: Nov 22, 2019Fire Tiger and Papusan like this. -

So should I just get the K or 9900ks, am also worried about voltages to and heat I know I'll be able to undervolt it but not to sure buy how much and I don't see a point in underclocking a cpu that I'm paying that premium for.

From what I gather you want to run 5Ghz on all eight cores. So, as mentioned above, best chance of achieving this out of the box would be with the KS. Due to a better volt/freq curve, as the R0 9900K will most likely run way hotter at 5Ghz.
And with a delid, die lap, LM and a copper ihs... that 9900KS should run 5Ghz relatively cool. -

Looks like the new NVIDIA driver 441.34 is slightly better than older ones.

From what I remember have seen... You complained about hot graphics a couple of days before... Won't be any better when you now upgrade from 9700K to 9900K(s)
Area have still a unified Heatsink and double the threads, as well 5.0GHz on all cores
will throw more heat over on graphics.

The heat calmed down when I downgraded back to driver 441.08
Sent from my GM1917 using Tapatalk -
Then I expect you will be on 441.08 forever
Or just hope for coming graphics drivers who is equal what you downgraded to
-

Not forever I'll just try later ones as they Come out and see how it goes, some ppl are still on drivers that are older than one I'm on

Your GPU score is good, but the 9700k should get a higher score.

You can use the Dell OS recovery tool to get the most current version.

2 days ago my new Alienware arrived. Dell supportassist updated the BIOS and I started seeing frame rate fríos because of this.
I tried to downgrade and now I have a bricked laptop.
Ahead of this, when playing Battlefield V I had 100° on CPU all the time and no more than 40-50 fps on ultra with RTX .
(M51 i9 9900K + RTX 2080, 32GB RAM)
On monday a tech Guy from Dell Will come and change the motherboard.
From the moment I'm very dissapointed...

When performing the BIOS downgrade, it is important to let the laptop reboot as much as it needs to. In addition, sometimes it is necessary to force flash the device twice.
Your device is not dead.

I don’t have a delid on my stock 9900k, but should I go ahead and apply LM? My goal is just to run 4.7GHz on x264 without getting into the 90’s. I can do about a -.100 under volt on it as is.

He insist that I need a motherboard replacement.
I Will try the Guy to check the CPU temp on the Game too.

I don't know how you are doing your BIOS downgrade. Are you following this tutorial (make sure you read all the posts, specially mine):
http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...ny-alienware-to-locked-lower-versions.829542/
You have to clear the BIOS settings and force flash as much as needed until the device works again. -
Can someone who has the 9700K+2070 combo on their 51M share their TimeSpy result?
At stock values (beside -0.115v undervolt CPU) my 51M using latest driver score at around 7800 points, is it standard performance for a GTX2070?
Thank you,Fire Tiger likes this. -
That score looks fine. You can clock the 2070 a bit higher and get to 8100-8200 pretty easily but that score looks almost identical to what I had when equipped with the same configuration. Bios version will influence it only slightly.MogRules likes this.

Must admit I had to work on this for a while and load the 200W vBIOS to get there. Did this with the 1.7.3 BIOS, and at the 2nd GPU test was borderline at the 78 degree Temp limit

My cpu still got abit higher :3 but not bad so what's the difference of 1.7.3 anyway? Why are most people seemingly on 1.5.0..
Sent from my GM1917 using Tapatalk -
I did that step by step! Really! But in some moment something messed Up and now I can't even start the laptop or the recovery.
I have 2 red lights and blue thing and never show anything on screen. Have tried everything like CTRL+ESC , the same plugin/unplugin...

Yeah, yours appears to be at 5.0 and mine was at 5.2 GHz... have to do some more testing.
The problem with 1.7.3 is that you can hit the thermal limit at the end of the test run and kill the score. However, due to GPU Boost 2.0, best results are obtained when running cooler even with the same offset. So overall, 1.7.3 is not a problem.Didn't know about the lights, indeed the mobo is done.

No one here has one mate, we can't answer the question. Think about it the 8700k isn't a supported CPU yet it worked, therefore, in my opinion any CPU suitable for this socket will work regardless of BIOS.
You could ask the guy on Reddit what BIOS he had. -

Speaking as someone who blows too much money on computer parts. It's not for the faint of heart. I bought a zotac mxm gtx 1080 just to see if i could get it to work in my alienware 17r1. I couldn't. It's a pristine $800 waste of money sitting in a box in my storage shed. The 9900ks will work in the area51m 100%. It is just like the 9900k. It sounds like you have heat issues tho and this will only compound your problems.Papusan likes this.

Was a driver that was causing more heat on my 2080 for some reason, now I'm undervolted 0.925v 1965 average clock and 79c max. 9700k is about 60c atm while on ark.
Sent from my GM1917 using Tapatalk -
Sounds like the cpu is worth trying then. My delidded 8700k runs at 75c max at 5.0ghz with balanced fans. I never bothered undervolting my 2080 because it never gets above 74c.Fire Tiger likes this.

What BIOS are you on? @Sup3rKillaX this should give you an idea that most CPU's for the socket will work. I can't imagine any CPU being blacklisted and I don't think 9900KS was out when 1.5.0 was released so even less chance of them having blacklisting it. -
Sup3rKillaX Notebook Evangelist
Less chance of blacklisted? What do you mean like it might not work with 1.5.0?

Likely the newest bios. Should be listed in the patch notes?

One thing for sure. The ODM’s engineers know long time beforehand what will come from Intel, Nvidia and AMD. And I don’t talk about 3 or 4 months beforehand.
