For the Deathadder owners, how has the mouse faired over time. I really enjoyed the ergonomics of it over other gaming mice on display at Bestbuy (518, g9 etc..). I'm not a fps gamer but just looking for a quality mouse for general gaming and daily use. I noticed in many reviews that Razer mice seem not to be designed for the long haul. Is that a gaming mice issue versus normal mice or just the result of heavy use by heavy users.

From my observation, Logitech mice seems to be the other way around. The non-gaming mice, especially the notebook mice, tend to have problems after a year. For example, the VX Nano is notorious for double clicking after a year of use. However, the gaming mice will last a very long time.

I'll second that. This Mx518 has seen over a year of FPS, RPG, RTS, web browsing, icon-clicking, and everything in between, and it still runs without a single problem.

My DeathAdder is about a year and a half old, and still works as well as the day I bought it. I just ordered a new one, only because of the new 3,500 DPI refresh. I say go for the DeathAdder; it's the most comfortable mouse I've ever had the pleasure of using, and it will last you. And if something goes wrong, you've got warranty for that. ;)

Depends on your budget and a few preferences. If wired mice are fine, I recommend the Razer DeathAdder. Relatively inexpensive among gaming mice, but among the best, especially with the recent DPI boost. Extremely ergonomically comfortable. The Logitech MX518 is similar and cheaper, although (to me) not quite as ergonomically awesome.

If it's gotta be wireless, you can try the Razer Mamba, but it's damn expensive. The Logitech G7 is also wireless, but cheaper. If you have Bluetooth, there's also the Razer Orochi.

Thanks for the update. I went ahead and ordered a deathadder just now. Its only the 1800dpi but I'm confident I won't even max that out when I adjust to it.

I was previously using the G5 mouse and tried the G500 mouse. Didn't like it much because the scroll is too loose for gaming. Also the sides buttons are all packed together making it very hard to press the button you want.
So i returned it back and now using the G5 again. Hopefully Logitech will fix these problems

I kind of like all the buttons together. I wish the G9x had more thumb buttons and buttons on the side for the pinky. I guess it's only for the dexterous.

I'm loving the new DeathAdder so far. The braided cable is something that should have been there in the first place, I think. And the 3,500 DPI optical sensor...just, wow. :D

I'm using the G500 now, and so far it's been a very good experience.

I know at least one other person here has had their mouse replaced by Logitech. Do I have to send in EVERYTHING? Like the case of weights and both grips? Or would I be fine just sending the mouse back?

Ask them. They would have the answers, no?

Anyway, got the G5 in the mail. Feels exactly like the MX518, but I don't like the texture of the side grip as much. It'll grow on me, I suppose. Love the weights, love the sensitivity. I have to relearn how to hold this mouse, though, since I was used to claw-gripping the Eclipse.

Oh, and the cable is braided too. For the win. Setpoint is usefull, too.

Got a mouse decision to make

Razer Deathadder 1800, Logitech G9x, Razer Mamba

Im a little bit hesitant to fork out that much for a mouse but if there really is a big difference between the base model adder and high end mamba then i will consider it.

I did, in the email they sent me the return label with. No response. I don't feel like calling back because it took an hour of waiting...and anyways, I KNOW someone here has done this before, so I figured I'd ask.

Glad you're satisfied with the G5. That's the Logitech work horse for sure. Very popular. Does it feel like it'll get slippery if your hands sweat?

Yes. The top of it looks spraypainted on and will rub off on my hands, but it's solid. Not too much a fan of the grainy side texture.

Why not get a DeathAdder 3,500? It's not nearly as expensive as the Mamba or G9X, and only slightly more than the DA 1,800, but with almost double the DPI.

do not offer advice without first asking what his needs are...i was recomended the G9 and it was my first choice in mouse...till the day i tried it out, it was def. not for me.

the G9x is for claw grippers, but with the new ID grip, it can have a better feel if u like to palm it. if u are strictly a palmer, and want wireless freedom, get the mamba. if u dont care about the wires, then get the DA 3500DPI, that is strongly recomended, and currently my fav. price: perf. mouse. i like my mamba since i got it @60usd tho lol

I disagree with that, the G9x in my hands is quite comfortable with a regular palm grip unlike a lot of the Razer mice.

Even without using the specialised gaming grip, the G9x is a nice mouse to use and doesn't stress my right hand at all even after hours of play.

Agreed. The palm grip is so, so nice, especially the little ridge on the left to rest the thumb. The claw grip however is for SERIOUS claw grippers because it's so hard to hold on to, and it'll give ya' arthritis of the fingers real quick if you white knuckle it like I do when I play.

Well, I got my Orochi yesterday. It's a great mobile mouse. I'm not sure how well it will do in an extended gaming session though.

I still can't figure out what to do with my pinkie finger. If I put it on the mouse lip I get cramping almost immediately. So, it just kind of hangs suspended to the right of the mouse.

I have about a week to try it out before I decide if I want to keep it or not. I think I would go for the Mamba if I do return it.

    Cut it off. :p

For real, though, try just letting it hang. It may feel funny brushing over your mouse pad at first, but it really doesn't get in the way. That's what I always had to do with my G9 Precision grip because my hands are enormous.

    lol, cut it off...

hmm thats weird, i found the G9 unbearable for palming, at least in my case (ok a lil exageration but it was considerably worse for me vs a ergonomic right hander like DA). it was perfect for a clawer tho...

I think the wide-load grip was great for palm-gripping, but it didn't have the anti-sweat coating of the Precision grip, which is more suited to clawing.

Take your G5 and drag it across the street so the surface gets all rough. Then you won't have slippery mouse anymore.

Went out and bought a Razer Lachesis and a Logitech G9x and a Razer Destructor/Golithius pad a few days ago.

Used the Lachesis first. Definitely a claw grip gaming mouse and im a palm grip so gave this mouse to my gf's brother. Switched to the G9x and what a beautiful mouse. Perfect for my grip and felt awesome whilst playing FPS. Software worked with W7 no problems. Very easy to use.

Wasnt sure i wanted a foam or solid mouse pad so bought both types. Used both but prefer the hard mouse. The destructor, whist uber expensive, is great. Works well with both the Lachesis and G9x. You definitely pay for the packaging. Heck even laptops dont come with foam carry cases :p.

So end combo is G9x and Destructor.

There's so much sexual innuendo that could arise from that typo.

I'm not sure why, but my G5 just isn't as comfortable as my MX518. Theyre basically the same shape, and with the weights removed about the same weight. For some reason, though, after extended playing my hand starts to ache a bit. If I use the MX518 I'm playing all the live long day.
