Hey guys, so after trying out a few bags I FINALLY found something that works for my M11 x on the go! It's made by Casecrown

Many have a hard time deciding which type of bag they should purchase, Messenger Versus Backpack are the most popular and going with this bag will "kill two birds with one stone " since it is both a messenger and a backpack!

Best part of it? Costs $30 bucks (I got a deal from amazon with free shipping) Plenty of room for accessories, drink holder, cell phone pouch, anything one would need in my opinion!

    Here is the description:

    PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

    Hi all,

I am looking for a convertible backpack that would work for a 13" Sony Vaio. I'm having severe trouble finding one. I need it to be able to fit the laptop, AC adapter and extra battery, and have an extra pocket for a couple books/notebooks (for grad school). At the very least, a notebook and a spot for some pencils or a few other items would be very helpful.

Does anyone have any recommendations? I know 13" convertibles are tough to come by.

If I have to go through all the links, I shall. The front page is a very helpful start, but I'm hoping to narrow things down immediately.

Thanks in advance for any help provided.

    -John

    Hi,

I'm looking for a messenger bag for my Dell XPS M1530 (in a Built neoprene case). I have a CoolerMaster Notepal Infinite that I would also like to fit in the bag (along with power adapter, mouse, maybe a book or some folders, etc.), and I am wondering if a bag designed for 17" systems would be more appropriate as it would have a bit more room. My current thought is:

SWISS GEAR Wenger SATURN Laptop carrying case - Fits Laptops with Screen Sizes Up to 17? : Laptop Accessories | Dell

but I am certainly open to suggestions. Is it a bad idea for any reason to get a bag that is "too big" for a given system?

I am getting the MSI GX640 laptop. Looking for a messenger bag. Just need a good one.I have been looking at the Booq Boa Nerve. Looks like a nice bag. Does anyone have experience with Boog bags? I need one to carry the laptop,2 WD Passort drives, charge, mouse and a few other small things. Any and all suggestions welcomed. Oh no back packs. Too old for one. I work for a large hospital in the IT dept. and travel between 4 hospitals. So it will be used everyday.
    thanks

I'm no expert, nor do I have experience with the bag you're looking at, but it looks good to me-- a bit out of my own price range for a bag, though. In terms of carrying capacity it would seem we have similar needs. See the link I posted above for an option that costs 1/3 as much, but may not have all the features of the Booq. I know from experience that Wenger makes decent products. What both of these bags have in common is that they are meant to carry machines up to 17" and we both have 15" notebooks. I still haven't pulled the trigger on the Wenger myself in hopes that someone with a bit of experience comes along over the next few days with a definitive yay/nay, but I'm leaning strongly in that direction...

I don't mind paying for a good bag. I had a Targus from BB but it just isn't made very well. Fell apart in about 2 yrs. The strap is junk. I need one with good padding. The Wenger is pretty nice too. I may look into it.
I have heard nothing but good things on the Booq bags. They may cost but they last.

I had the K2 myself, pretty much a copy of Timbuk2's bags in terms of overall design (not just looks). Cheaper though, but mine fell apart after a year, I did put it through alot of use...

    Bought a Timbuk2 Outtawhack instead.

    Hi All

Looking for a laptop backpack that will carry two laptops; a 17" Dell Latitude E6500 (work) and a 17" widescreen Malibal Satori (Clevo W870CU) (personal), along with the associated gadgetry. Must fit in airline overhead bins. Yeah, the security checkpoint people are going to love me. I was looking at Tom Binh and they have some pretty good-looking options, but are kind of pricey. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Hey people. I'm looking for a laptop sleeve that can be used as a standalone carry case. The sleeve will be put in a Think tank airport TakeOff bag when traveling. The contenders so far are the Waterfield vertical laptop sleeve with flap and strap or the Think Tank Artifical Intelligence. The laptop to be carried is a HP Elitebook 8540 (15.6in) notebook with related accessories. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks

what are the possible consequences if the bag is slightly bigger than the laptop? My current bag fits the new laptop but has an extra inch width wise, so my laptop can slide back and forth but not side to side.

I am not quite catching on which particular dimension you are talking about. :p The thickness of the laptop? Or the width of the laptop (let say you are sitting down at a desk looking at the laptop).

    They are worth the price.

I also carry 2 machines all the time in their Super Ego and Empire Builder.

When looking at the laptop on a desk, let's say the length of the laptop is the distance from left side of laptop to the right side, thickness is the distance from top of laptop lid to desk top, and width is the distance between the side of the laptop nearest you, to the rear end of the laptop.

My new laptop is shorter in width in comparison with my laptop sleeve. Should that cause any concern especially if I plan on sticking the laptop into the sleeve then into my backpack.

Ok thanks for the clarification. I don't really see a problem. But if you are worried you can always grab some bubble wrap and cushion the bottom of the sleeve to fill up space.

Interestingly the Bihn Brain Cell case adjusts for depth.
That way the bag suspends the computer above the bottem of the case so if dropped the machine will not hit the ground but instead will "spring" inside the case.

    It seems to work too.

The Bihn bag is also 2x the price of the HP sleeve, which kinda defeats the purpose. The only reason I was asking was so that I can save money and reuse my old one and not create more trash laying around my apartment.

For some reason, you've been pushing that Bihn bag quite heavily; do you have an external motive for doing so?

I have a few of them and they protect the computer inside.
My motivation is trying to be helpful,is that somehow beyond you?

They are not the slimmest or the cheapest I have found but they do work the best for me.

I recently destroyed a machine while in a basic Sleeve when it was ground between the other things in the bag next to it.
You will rarely here this mentioned and I had not even considered it until it happened to me.

Carrying too much without some form of hard protection can make things vulnerable to the weight and movement of each other item in a bag.

The Bihn Brain Cell has some kind of Hard material inside that helps prevent this destruction.

    Make Sense?

I thank you for your concern about the protection of laptops. However, I know how much weight I carry in my backpack and am very careful about how I handle everything when my laptop is around. Again, I thank you for your suggestion. But my goal was to spend LESS than the $30 that HP is asking for the sleeve.

I'm looking for a backpack for a GX640 with the 9-cell battery. I'll be carrying it around with my textbooks all day so a sturdy bag is neccessary along with good protection for the laptop from my textbooks banging up against it. Size isn't a concern, but price can't be too high (max $75, maybe a little higher).

What's a good sleeve for a 14" laptop that is 1.1" thick all around? I wish I could get a MacBook sleeve that has memory foam in the shell (my girlfriend got one for her Dell Inspiron 13), but MacBooks don't come in 14" size :(

Hey guys. I havea 17.3inch (I believe) sony vaio E series. I'm looking for a THIN cover that'll cushion/ protect from scratches without adding too much thickness. I'm planning on carrying it in a briefcase anyway (I have one in mind but I'd love suggestions... no huge logos or anything flashy, something professional.)

Basically, I'm not bringing my computer around with me if I can help it but I'm sure as hell not bringing it around without proper protection.

    Advice?

    EDIT:
    http://store.ogioaccess.com/product/details/3660?cookies=true

I'm thinking perhaps this would be best. Anyone have experience with it? It says "17 inches" but I believe my laptop is 17.3. Will this be an issue?

Ok let me first say that, I do realize some of these post I'm replying to are quite "old." I am only replying to them as I think it might help other people make a decision. Second, let me say that I am in no way affiliated with pelican. I have used several pelican cases through multiple deployments and I have never been let down. Yes they may add a little bit of weight, but you don't have to worry about dirt/sand/dust/water/crushing force ruining your computer. These things are about as indestructible as it gets.

Pelican Products 1510LOC Laptop Overnight Case
perfect fit for what you are asking for.

I'm sure that one is a good case as well but I would suggest the: Pelican Products 1495CC1 Laptop Case

Good choice, and I hope you got one!!!

Pelican Products 1510LOC Laptop Overnight Case
I know you asked for a back pack, but I'm sure this would have no problem fitting your 2 laptops plus what ever else you need. Also thinking that you were thinking of a backpack so that you wouldn't have only one strap or have to carry a briefcase style with all that weight. I think this option solves multiple problems. AND it's FAA maximum carry on size!!!

Same as I have posted above: Pelican Products 1510LOC Laptop Overnight Case

My first laptop case from Pelican was the : Pelican Products 1490CC1 Laptop Case
While I was on a deployment I decided that I wanted the Pelican Products 1495CC1 Laptop Case
So I put the info out that I wanted to sell the one that I currently had and I sold it in less than a day. (lost about 30% price, but it was used for ~1/2 a year) I then purchased the 1495CC1 and had it shipped to me. I have been using that for well over 3 years now. It is an excellent case that will hold up under any circumstances. (as was the first one, it was just a little small for me) I have taken the 1495CC1 on multiple deployments and work/vacation trips for over 3 years and I don't see this thing wearing out ever!!!

Sidenote I have used other pelican cases for my Ipod and other delicate items that may need to have water/dust/crush protection, and everything I have used from pelican has really held up well and is a great insurance policy for my expensive belongings.

A simple hard case sleeve solution. It wouldn't work for me and not sure how many it would work for because it doesn't look like it has room for charger. But I suppose people that just want to throw it into any ol back pack may appreciate it for it protection against other stuff. Or in a suitcase on a trip?

If pelican seems like the brand for you, but none of these options seem to suit you, I would recommend looking around their website, as they have a TON of different configurations. That coupled with their pick and pluck foam, you can find a case to fit whatever you need into and then basically customize it to your own products that you are going to be using it for.

PELICAN HAS TAKEN CARE OF ME AND MY GEAR. I WILL FOREVER BE A PELICAN CUSTOMER AND TAKE CARE OF THEM!

I use Everki Beacon Laptop Backpack for my old 17" notebook, well was. Now I'm using it for my 15" notebook.

Bulky 17" notebook like Asus G series & perhaps Alienware M17x won't fit in the back but they will fit nicely in the front.

For my 14" notebook, I use Mendoza backpack.

I've done a review of the pakuma akara k1 backpack. It is a pretty nice backpack though i did prefer the black with green piping - it looks so much better :) All in all, the value for money is pretty good. The only downside is that you can't store much in it even though it looks so large..

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a good messenger bag by targus. I am a little partial to the company because of my old bag which came free with my laptop. It fits my 15.6 notebook perfectly, protects it well, has ample storage space, and has a really comfortable shoulder strap.

Anyone have any specific recommendations for a targus messenger bag for 15.6 notebooks?

The "Unofficial" messenger bag from Targus are pretty good, they go on sale at Dell pretty often for around $20 or so. Basic, quite no frills but does the job. I have one and love it.

Has anyone used a BBP industries backpack? It's gotten some good reviews. I really like the tom bihn brain bag, but man is it expensive.

Hi guys, my previous backpack broke on me after 3 years so I'm looking for a new one. I also bought myself a Clevo P150HM and I noticed it's a bit bigger than my sucky HP 15" even though it's the same screen size. So I assume I need a 17" backpack to be safe? Anyone that can comment on that?

It needs to be able to hold power adaptor, some mobile harddrives, mice, some games, a controller... The usual stuff you bring to your friends, I also bring it with me in the airplane cabin. I just use it for all my electronic stuff. I'd want it protect my laptop as well off course. I love the padding on the bottom of my previous one.

Can anyone help? That's a lot of websites there :/

Take a look at Slappa or at the Alienware Orion series of backpacks. I just had a 17 inch Orion ship in for the Mythlogic Nyx that I have ordered, awaiting the 6990m >.<, but it seems like a pretty solid backpack. If you fly a lot you might enjoy the scanfast set-up as well on it.
