I got an exchange and the new mouse's back button works great! When I was using this mouse on my other PC which doesn't have setpoint installed, the middle click scroll was smoother than setpoint's middle click scroll so I'm thinking about just uninstalling Setpoint since I don't plan to give the extra buttons special uses besides forward and back.

Sorry I just realized I had the middle click on 'universal scroll' and when i changed it to 'auto scroll' it became the smooth scrolling I was referring to. So I guess there is no point in having SetPoint installed unless you want to map various functions to the forward/back buttons?

Oh cool I set the middle click to ctrl+f so it refreshes the page in Firefox. That'll be handy, guess I'll keep setpoint installed.

Lol, I hate deleting stuff, so I put my top key to delete (keystroke assignment) and bottom key to enter.

    Easy as that :p

I had 10 seconds sleep mode problem too, got fixed by installed new Setpoint 2.6 and new driver 2.6. Now with setpoint running, everything is working great. left right tilt, back forward in firefox, have not tested in IE(it should be OK). sleep awaken very quickly.

:) No problem, glad you got the problem solved. it might not because the older setpoint or driver as I tested last night on my desktop with older setpoint, it worked fine too. I am confused.

Well I got my Storm grey V400 from Circuit city today and the orange one is going back. Here is a picture on both boxes and I am glad to announce that on the Storm grey package there is a different sticker you can see that silver sticker on the front. Its hard to read but it says "Logitech All-Terrain LASER Optimise-Tuned-Optimzado" so I know for sure the grey one is from the second batch where the orange one is probably not. Did anyone of you have the Tuned sticker on your packages? It also says on the left "New All -terrain laser Advanced dual laser technology Tracks on more surfaces" That was also different than the last package.

I didn't have the sticker but I doubt mine is from the first batch. They seem like a brand new product here, not even on the shelves yet at all stores. I had to get mine from the back room. Mine said 2005 on the back of the package, what about yours? And how much did it cost?

My orange one said 2005 on the back also. All the 2005 date means that's when they received the copyright to the design not when that particular mouse was manufactured. I paid 42$ USD for this new Grey one. There are a lot of little things on this grey box that are designed differently than that orange box which leads me to believe it was one of the older bad batches. Besides the glaring fact that the bright silver sticker on the front states that the Dual Laser has been Redefined and fixed. Guess I will be testing it when my laptop comes in. Its very reassuring to have my Silver Sticker stating its been fixed in three languages! =)

Oh I saw, but I know that online shopping sites are a lot more competitive with electronics and already the orange one was being sold at $39.99. So I'll just wait a little bit longer. It's hard but I can do it. Plus maybe Logitech will bust out with another one of their random rebates.

I don't have the storm grey one, that's the orange one. Now I'm worried that it's not performing as well as the grey one since they have totally different packaging apparently. I'm awaiting more info from Johnny9ball on his.

    I don't know, but I bet they'll cost way more than Best Buy's current $39.99 sale. :(

So now I don't know if I should return this one or not.

On a decent surface this mouse works great and the sleep function is never an issue for me so I don't believe these orange ones are the old batch. It's strange that the gray ones have different packaging though, maybe they're a third version. I really wish I knew if gray was better, if so I would return the orange one and wait. It would be nice to have the option of using it on more types of surfaces in case I ever needed to.

It's a little awkward reaching the forward button, and I wish they were two individual buttons instead of one piece of plastic that I guess rocks back and forth although you don't feel it rocking.

There is no apparent reason for they grey one to perform better then the orange one...or is there o_O?

In Canada...in both BestBuy and FutureShop I didnt find the grey one - only the orange one.

WEll got some news from New Zealand, The Orange ones which were meant to ship in two days are now not avalible anymore! The grey ones will nome in on the 15th of MAy :( but from all the speculation in this forum, it might just be because of some issues with the first orange batch....

    This is in Sweden.

I ordered mine late last friday night, being easter and all I knew it would take about a week to get me my mouse. Just got home with a grey one. Worked superb straight out of the box, with the two back and forward buttons working flawlessly in all apps. The wheel tilt doesn't work though. Not that I'd ever use it since it just feel awkward.

Tracking is perfect, took away my mousepad immediately. And it doesn't have any sleep problem.

Overall, very happy with my new toy. This is how a mouse is supposed to be.

Yea it has that sticker on it, saying all terrain. I've tested it on both light and dark surfaces now and it still works. Also tested it on shiny metallic surface, the sort you may find in a kitchen, also works. I'm very pleased with the ability to track.
