Little problem I got when using it on dark/brown surface, took a little bit longer when you want wake it up after not using it for more than about 10 seconds. No problem at all on the other surfaces.
I thought it was because the older setpoint and driver, since when I first got this problem, I move the laptop to another table and updated the driver then it worked. Now I know the real reason.

I would open and review this mouse but....I would have to craw behind my desk and insert the dongle then try to track with the mouse from varying distances behind my desk where the dongle is because that's the only fair way to try the mouse close and far from the dongle like the Notebook. Its a notebook mouse and the only Fair and accurate review would be attached to a notebook.

Courier it to me. I'll test it out and I promise.....I'll send it back.

Ummmm...............................................................................................no.

Ummmm...............................................................ok.

It's not important but I noticed that Futureshop now has it on sale for $50 saying it's $20 off which is the same as BestBuy last week had it for $40 with $30 off so I'm assuming if the gray one gets to Canada it will cost $70.

Left my MX510 installed. Uninstailled the old Logitech sofltware, rebooted, installed Setpoing 2.60, rebooted, plugged in the V400, most seems well so far.
Setpoint knows the difference between the two mice, is happy having both plugged in and active. You can configure each differently.
No problem changing the two buttons to PageUp and PageDown. They both function, unlike he who got a semi-nonfunctional mouse out of the box. Was going to change what the tilt wheel does, but decided to leave it for now.
The wheel's detents are software than the MX510. The mouse is a lot smaller than the MX510's, but larger than the BenQ clone I had, and feels comfortable so far.
What may be a major issue is that it will not work at all on the black desktop that the MX510 has been happy with for a long time. This may not be an issue - the mouse it for my DJ laptop, and will go into the bag, only to be used at gigs. I have a Kingwin UC3 cooler under my Gateway MX6627. The UC3 has a three port USB 2.0 hub built in. The MX510 is plugged into the hub, so when the laptop is at home, I plug in the UC3, and the fans and mouse are connected - using the UC3 like a docking station.
Just had it go to sleep, and it took longer than I would have liked to wake up. I think. This was the first time, will try again.
The light on the back goes out - just is on when you first turn it on (remove the receiver) or when it first wakes up. The green light on the bottom is on all the time, which seems strange for a laser mouse. The bottom light is green, and does not give a glow or anything to the bottom, so it seems totally useless.
Wish I had seen the Best Buy price last week - have not checked this thread for a couple of weeks, and didn't check the Best Buy flyer, so I ended up paying about $10 plus taxes extra.
If my girlfriend likes the look of this one, I may lose it...<grin>...which is OK. Maybe by then the gray ones will be available, and I can get one of those to check. I like the orange, it stands out a bit, and small bits of flash that are not overdone are great when working.
Thanks to all who have shared their experiences (and frustrations!). This discussion has helped a LOT when decided to replace a perfectly good, working mouse with new and untried technology.
The V400 may be a great thing for me - I have FAR too many wires around when setup with both both laptops, external drives and hubs, mixers, amps, speakers, cordless mics, etc. The final test will be to ensure it does not cause RFI with any of my mics or other equipment.Last edited by a moderator: Jan 29, 2015 -

Should the two green lights on the bottom be on all the time? There is only one light that is on on the bottom of my mouse . The big round light is not on. Is it normal?
-
bibo the big round thing that i believe you are refering to is the laser and no its not supposed to light up cause that is the laser. You can only see optical mouse's light but because this is a laser mouse you will not be able to see it. Im not sure how you have two green lights on at the bottom of your mouse but I only have one. -
> Im not sure how you have two green lights on at the bottom of your mouse > but I only have one.
Hmm a possible way to make a distinction between the 2 versions of the V400? Sounds interesting, pics would help.
Later,
TSR -
I think the green light shines through and makes it look like the laser lense is glowing too. I noticed this but didn't realize that laser mice don't have a light so I thought it was normal.
I decided to return this mouse because it doesn't perform on any surface as advertised and I felt like I was settling, which isn't a great feeling. I'll look for an alternative or maybe wait for the grey one. -
Thank you marcopolo. I remembered when I first got the mouth, the green light came out from the round hole. Later on after I installed the driver, I noticed that the green light came out from the lightball next to the hole. So I thought there would be two green lights. I think I was confused with v400 and v200. Sorry about that.

After reading that some of you were finding the v400's in Canada, i checked my local future shop flyer and saw they have the v400. Picked one up on sat. and it works great. No problems on my light brown desk or blue mouse pad. Played warcraft 3 with it and it worked well, altough it's not quite as sensitive as my mx600.
-
I'm still finding it pretty "floaty". In fact, yesterday I had to use an old wired mouse. Perhaps it was my surface. (Brown coffee table - grainy).
-
....You know you could have gotten it for 36$cnd.. if you said that best buy had it on a sale...they would check and futureshop would beat their price.
Thats what I did. -
I was called out of town last week when my grey v400 was scheduled to arrive. So here I am traveling without my new notebook mouse.
I got here this morning and immediately opened it. So far so good. I like the feel of the mouse body, left/right buttons and scroll wheel. Tracking is good too.
Two things I am concerned with though. When I depress the middle button, I am accidentally pressing it at an angle which also activates the side scroller. Must be something I have to get used to but it seems a little to easy to do this. Also, the forward and back buttons are not as discrete as I would like. I find that I have to concentrate a bit to find the back versus the forward or I have to do it repeatedly to depress the right spot. Most probably it is just something I have to get used to. -
Oh and here is the ultimate question...
...for those of us who have received a v400...
...was it worth the wait and all the trouble? -
-
My ultimate question is whether the grey one with special stickers is better than the orange one.
-
We'll know once Johnny gets his laptop.....what's the ETA on it??
-
Well he hasn't used the orange one so it'll be tough to say for sure, I guess he could try using it on all those surfaces that others had a problem with and get some idea of the performance.
-
-
The W3j should be here by 1st week of May....hopefully
-
-
Yes I get my W3J sometime second week of May it looks like. W3J should arrive in states first week then they have to move out to the smaller distributors then they have to ship from there to us so probably get it around 10-15 May if everything goes according to plan.
-
I think I'll take mine back until I get a review on the grey one. Can't seem to find the grey one in Canada yet though.....
-
I have spotted the V400 on the shelf at Staples and at Sam's Club. This is in the central Ohio region.
-
-
I wish I had a laptop in my household to test it on but I don't. At least not till May. -
My offer still stands.
My address is:

I just picked one of these mice up, looks pretty sweet, but havent used it because i dont have my laptop yet. And thats another story!
-
no! -
Well, who's interested in battery life.
The supplied duracell last 1 week on me. Had a very tense work week after I finally decided to buy this thing.
The mouse was in use at least 16h a day in almost constant motion (little sleep time). And was also plugged in the rest of the time.
So much of the 6 months. Will see how long the next one will go. Now I'm turning it off for the night and considering getting rechargeable batteries.
I have the tuned storm grey version. -
Wow, thats all for batter life!? i mean, sure it was constant use, but thats kinda lacking considering they state up to one year on some of their other models. Hows everyone elses batteries holding up ?
Im wondering if maybe i should return this beofre i open it. -
Well they state up to one year on their V200 which is an Optical mouse, not a Laser mouse, the latter consumes more battery.
I'm planning on getting a V400, now I'm reconsidering because of the battery life... We'll see though...
I want at least a month.. -
So, is there an actual difference between the grey and the orange V400, besides color??
-
-
I just searched previous posts regarding the "tuned" sticker. I still don't know about mine, but a buddy of mine bought one just yesterday from Sam's Club after I told him about it. He paid $38 and some change and I just verified that it does have the "tuned" sticker on it.
-
Yeah I already have rechargable batteries so I don't care (too) much about how bad the battery is. Plus, I won't use it that often. I'll probably be using my inbound Logitech G5 more. -
Got an email this morning. For those of us who are in the US, Buy.com notified me that the grey one is now in stock.
Storm Grey -
Ok. Just finished with the checkout and cost came out to $45.02 including tax and free shipping. Hopefully it's the one with the "Tuned" sticker. Most likely it will be since those are showing up from ones purchased from Sam's Club as well as CircuitCity and other places mentioned previously.
I'll let you guys know whenever I get it. I was too cheap to pay for expedited shipping, so I stuck with the Free Ground 7-9 day shipping. Usually when I buy things from Buy.com they get here in 3-4 days, so we'll see... -
Geez... three posts in a row. I'm a posting machine.
Just checked MWave.com, and they also have it in stock. These grey ones are just popping up all over the place now.
Thinking about cancelling my order from buy.com so I can pick up the mouse today from Mwave.
I'll be saving $0.02 if I do... -
You know you could have just edited your first reply instead of posting information three times since it was all related. :-/
Good to hear that the grey ones are popping up. I wonder if our non-american buddies are seeing the grey ones pop up too! This has been one hell of a slow launch. -
Yes, the edit button is there for a reason, posting multiple times in a row is considered spamming, wether it's on topic or not. =/
-
ummm, no!
only on the 15th in New Zealand, well and plus however long it takes to ship to my door..
insane -
I saw the grey one advertised on the tiger direct canadian site but there was no photo, I bet it was just the orange one.
-
Really? Gotta go check it out....
-
Nope, not anymore....
