Hey Members,
im looking to purchase the v400 online, i dont really buy anything without testing them , so i just wanted to know how is the feel of the mouse ? and another thing i didnt see it at bestbuy ? is there any retailers other than logitech ?
thank you -
-
Right. CircuitCity.com is still the only one with a decent price that still has it in stock. (Web-only)
Buy.com (where I ordered mine) and Mwave.com had them but are already out of stock. These grey ones are going fast.
This is in the US though. I'm sure other members can point the way to Canadian, New Zealand, European, etc. sites that have it.
Will post once I receive mine, whether or not the "Tuned" sticker is there. -
so is it not wise to buy it if it doesn't have the tuned sticker?
-
Is this the grey one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...f=pd_bbs_1/103-0153532-0396625?_encoding=UTF8 ?
-
Yes. xxxxxxxx
-
Arrrgh, didn't know amazon had it - just bought mine from CC for more plus tax!!
-
Looks like more stores are getting the V400 in now.
-
I'm looking forward to some reviews of the grey one, and it becoming available here in Toronto.
-
screw it, i found a sale for the G7 at 69.99CAN so im not gonna wait for the new version
-
Hmm, Amazon.com gets the grey ones in.
Then other stores get their stock of grey v400s in.
Then Amazon lowers the price below 40 into the 36-38 range.
Then I order the mouse with free 2 day shipping. Gotta love the free Amazon Prime trial. -

Sorry I have not read all the replies but I want to ask something.
I am an industrial design student and using my laptop for long hours in programs like Rhinoceros or 3d Studio Max so a mouse should be comfortable for me but at the same time i do not want a very big mouse to carry it near me.
Do you think V400 is a good mouse for me?
If you can reply in a short time it will be very helpful.
Thanks... -
Other then that i think the v400 is a great mouse and the extra buttons work well. I hope the grey one comes out soon maybe that one will be better on magazine surface. -
The v400 has somewhat of a picky laser, but most of the time, it works great - I have no real complaints except of the laser.
-
Forgot to tell you guys.
$5 pricegrabber rebate for writing a review.
See the link for details: http://www.pricegrabber.com/p__Logi...ok_Mouse_Grey,__13289299/search=logitech+v400
I've done this before and they do send out little $5 rebate checks after about 2-3 months I would say. They also do this with a variety of other products too.
There's a rebate for the orange one too. -
-
Nope.
I don't mind though, the certain places it doesn't work I never need to use it anyways -
Once the grey one hits the shelves at futureshop, bestbuy or staples i will purchase it then pull the ol'switcheroo with my orange one then return it. I hope this tuned v400 will do much better.
-
Let us know, I think you'll be the first person to try both.
-
So.... Anyone received their V400 Grey ones with stickers?
-
I like my orange v400, there are some surfaces it won't do(wood pained black), but i can easily find something to cover it(water colour painted surface which has been glossed), and it works fine
-
Finally received my v400 this morning and from the time I've used it so far, everything is working perfectly. It has trouble tracking on shiny plastic, but that's expected.
I purchased mine from Buy.com and it does have the Tuned Sticker.
The mouse is great. Well worth the 8 month wait. -
I'm waiting on it to drop to 38 something. Don't ask me why, just am. -
-
So far...
Works well on my birch desk, light grey mousepad (clothlike), white painted desk, oak shelf, glossy black mini fridge, plastic desk cover (with thin black corkboard material underneath), navy blue pillow case, navy blue comforter/blanket, pc magazine, shoe box, netflix envelope, white printer paper, led zeppelin poster (black), Taylor T5 guitar (koa finish).
Does not work well on my thermaltake tsunami case, black leather folder.
It seems like I'm having the same results as a lot of other posters where the mouse won't work on glossy black materials, or dark materials. I'm just curious as to why they DO work for me on my zeppelin poster and mini fridge, as they are also glossy.
I've been trying the mouse on as many surfaces as I could, only to get weird stares and a response of "boys and their toys" from my fiancee. It does look a little weird when you see someone trying a mouse on a wall, but it was for the good of the experiment.
The range I'm getting is very good. I was able to use the mouse 10 feet away and it still was working very well. I haven't tried it farther than that.
Coriolis was right when he said it feels cheap at first, but it really isn't. It's very rugged and very comfortable in my hand. The front/back buttons are in a bit of an odd place, but that's probably the only place they could be put. Just something I have to get used to. There's also a decent weight to it once the battery is in.
There is no noticeable "wake up" time that i've noticed. It seems to come back from sleep mode very quickly. To test this, all i did was look at the green light on the bottom, waited for it to go off, and after about a minute i'd put it back on the surface and it would respond right away. I haven't installed the setpoint software, but am having no problems with the front/back buttons. Haven't tried the side scrolls yet though. Will edit my post once I get to it. -

Any idea if the Orange version is available in a package with the "Tuned up" sticker too? Or is it only for the gray one so far?
-
Gray one only.
-
I just got the grey version in the new package from CC and it feels like the cursor is floating. Tried next to my G5 which is accurate and has no sensation of floating. The best way to illustrate what I mean is, when I drag the mouse quickly across the screen and halt my movement at a set point, It seems like the cursor just settles into place. Whereas with the G5 and other mice, it abruptly stops where it should. It's also somewhat difficult to be accurate with it.
I really can't describe my feelings better than this, but was wondering if this is the tracking issue so many seem to talk about?
Otherwise, everything works and is great. -
Sorry CitizenTony... I'm not having that sort of problem with this mouse. I have had that problem with another logitech mouse though. It was with a Logitech Cordless Rechargeable Desktop. It's a very stripped down version of the mx duo. I got it from Newegg for $20. The mouse seems to keep moving even when you stop, and seems to slow down when you try to click on an icon or a link or anything. It slows down before you get there making it very frustrating to use. So I know what you mean, but I just haven't been having that problem with the v400. Mine's been working like a dream.
On another note, does anyone know what little carrying case I can buy for the v400? I know the v500 and maybe the v200 come with one. I'm just a little disappointed this one didn't come with one also. Probably because it's supposed to be rugged as is. -
After reading all of this crazy, epic, dramatic 74 page thread (and coriolis's review <-- patient man (8 months!?)), I just ordered the Storm Grey v400 from Buy.com which was $3 cheaper than the Orange one ( i wonder why??). Hope it's good. To everyone in the thread.. Thanks for all your info and efforts!
-
I'm confused, there are all kinds of reports, is it safe to buy or not? :/
-
Cyberghost, from the thread this is what I've summed up. The mouse is now good. Originally it shipped with tracking issues, but since then it has been "tuned", which is why the mouse was backordered for so long. Most likely, if you order now, you will get the new version which is good. The grey one is confirmed to be good, so if you want to be safe, go with it. But, Coriolis reviewed the orange one, and he gave it a 10/10. Hope this helps.
-
Mine was the new one with the tuned sticker, but it had tracking issues anyway. I took it back today and will stick with the G5 for now. Bummer since I've been waiting on this mouse for something like 6 month's.
My advice is to try it out, but buy it from somewhere with a solid return policy.
ETA: I had the same problem with the Logitech LX7 when it came out, though I always figured that was due to the no/low light optical sensor it uses. My desk is standard fare and all other mice have worked without fail. -
Do the resellers accept it back with torn packaging?
I mean it does not open like a MX510 box for example does it? you have rip the packaging apart. I'm pretty sure resellers will make so much fuss about this here in IrelandI think Logitech started making those kind of packings just so people would have more trouble returning the products if they changed their minds.
Symetrikal, can you please post what your mouse will be like when you receive it? -
I definitely will post how the mouse is. I ordered today and it shipped in a few hours
Hopefully I receive it on the same day as my laptop
-
CitizenTony... Ok now I know what you mean with the floating cursor. It started happening once I installed the setpoint software. I hadn't installed it until now and then the "floating" problem started. I turned the sensitivity down and that seemed to do the trick. I just wanted to see if the software would improve anything, but so far it hasn't. I don't customize my buttons, but I'm sure others do. So what I'm probably going to do is just uninstall setpoint since it worked perfectly for me without it.
Edit: The "floating" problem I was getting was that the mouse moved a little bit once I let go of the mouse. Or maybe I was just nudging it a little without knowing... -
Not 10/10, more like 8.5/10, the mouse is still picky at times.
Also, my battery just died. Ever since I got it, I've been using it as my main mouse, to get a feel for it, so, 5-12 hours a day ever since then, not bad. -
Cori, could you re-link to your V400 review or put a link in your sig, i'm having a though time finding it again.
Thanks ^^

Done!
Hmmmm, we really need to get in contact with a Logitech CSR or Rep -
Hey well the courrier arrived today some 12 days sooner than expected a droped off a huge box. Inside under mountains of air pockets and bubble wrap was a new Storm Grey v400 . And in the new packaging.
I noticed though that setpoint 2.42 that comes with it doesnt allow the forward and back buttons to work, and seems to put the mouse into a sleep mode after about 10 seconds or so. So now just using the default windows drivers, and all seems well. Busy downloading the new drivers.
insane -
And the traditional question....... tracking? -
makes little difference using setpoint or not. But 2.6 does allow the back/forward button to work with firefox!
**** the wake up process is annoying though.... going to look into fixing this somehow....
tracking is perfect!!!! I tried it successfully on the following:
my jeens I'm wearing
My duvet cover
blanket
notebook bag
white paper
plain desk with wood grain finish - very glossy!
only thing it didnt track well on was on a peice of pink bubble wrap
