so far this mouse is cool, super light.. haha i only bought this baby cuz of this crazy thread.. hope it rocks will see when my lappy arrives..
so i payed 62.XX for it cuz i bought the 1yr replacement warr. from staples too..good idea? i dunno..
Thanx! -
are the back and forward buttons on the v400 suppose to work without the software? or do you have to install the software?
thanx -
comes w/ the logitech software, just install it. Think it's called SetPoint
-
k thanks! so far it doesn't track too well on my glossy blacktable... sometimes its not sure if im moving the mouse..
-
yeah.... many people have complained about that. In general... optical mice don't track well on glossy materials, reflects light back instead of absorbing resulting in confusion of the mouse at hand.
Get a mousepad... or a piece of paper. I know it's annoying but that's the way to go. I just ordered the V400, getting it in a couple of days. -
well another week passed and my mouses batteries are critical...I use it intensely but this is just BS...im going to futureshop soon enough getting a bluetooth mouse or smtn..
Ridiculous battery life...and this is Duracell Ultra I put it every time...or week should I say. -
To people who bought one from Buy.com. It finally hit the price I wanted it to hit, 36.98. But I remember folks who ordered and the mouse was taking FOR-EVER to get to you or hasn't gotten there yet.
Let me know what's up before I go waiting a millenia for my mouse. -
so would you have waited longer if it had only dropped to 36.99?
-
Battery life sucks that bad??? man... -
Check this review out guys, done very recently...
http://www.virtual-hideout.net/reviews/logitech_v400/index.shtml -
But remember I used it intensively as I use the computer a LOT lol...
-
-
Don't buy too many AAAs, the mouse only takes one AA.
People don't seem to be taking into account that this mouse uses one battery when comparing it to other mice which usually use two. To be fair you should double the battery life since you're only using up one AA at a time. I think I said this in another thread, sorry if it was this one. -
-
Hahaha sounds good then.. -
Ordered Yesterday.
Shipped Yesterday.
No tracking info yet (got the number though). Hopefully it'll get here by next week tuesday. -
Buy.com usually sends their "free budget shipping" items via USPS. So you might be waiting a while. Probably a whole week or more. But hey, it was finally at the price you wanted, so waiting an extra few days isn't so bad.
-
Can some one let me know why they would spend $40+ on a mouse????
I don't understand it! I have a logitech mx and it works fine, but is the v-series REALLY that essential? A mouse is a mouse...in fact , people still use the ones with balls underneath them!
I guess i just want to understand the whoe craze behind this mouse. -
Craze: It looks cool and has extra buttons.
-
thats why I own it
I got it for like 28$usd? heh with extended warranty. Btw I convered CND too USD when I said $28usd/ -
I returned the orange one and then paid $15 more for the grey one later on. I have no regrets.
-
What do you mean Deaddy?
Are the orange and grey versions different in functionality?
If, so, can you list what changed ?
See you,

Although that whole "laser means it's better" is looking to be a load of hog wash. Even for my G5. Darn things just can't work on dark surfaces.
The price differences are subject to what retailer is selling the mouse. If you go to logitech's site, both are $50. So far, there aren't any technical differences between the two colors.
Damn Buy.com... I won't see that mouse till next week friday I bet. -
I have to agree with that, I've had this mouse now for a few weeks, and to be totally honest, I prefered using my very old Logitech wheel mouse optical. It fealt like a proper mouse, tracked way better! and I never needed to use a pouse pad. fine it had a cable but i never really bothered me. This v400 is nice looking and all, but even after using a white piece of paper as a pad for the last week or so, the tacking is still in the budget range. Not too impressed at all. My work will be welling these mouses in a few days now, so I'l compare mine with the ones at work and see if mine is faulty.
As for battery life, I'm been using mine a lot and the nattery still says 'good' just like it was when i first installed it. So not sure what you are all on about. I use it about 4 hours a day, for the past few weks -
$28 bucks? What do you mean by extended warranty...and how much would they be in the states?

When the topic creator finally gets his mouse...
Man what in the hell.
It was working perfectly on every surface I threw at it a second ago
Then it stops working?
I turn it on and off (plugging the reciever in and out) and it's back to normal, hell even better now that it tracks on a dark surface. I tried white paper, my mouse pad which has yellow and orange on it, my gray pants leg, wood desk, dark pillow case, my face, and my light brown carpet. Not so bad on carpet.
So I haven't had any tracking issues yet (just doesn't feel as tight as the G5 or my previous optical mouse), just "Hey Mr. Stickman, hows about I just stop working for a moment, a hehehehe!"
A btw I have the gray one.
Mouse feels more solid than my beloved G5. So I'm not worried about it breaking by physical means. The scroll wheel feels fine to me. I can feel the clicks in the wheel. And sense I'm already getting used to the G5's middle click, this one isn't a problem except for the way I hit the middle click could also hit the left and right buttons. The back and forward feel fine to me. And the side to side scrolling works alright too.
Sleeping issue, I can deal with it.
So as a notebook mouse it serves it's purpose, for now. Let's hope Logitech continues to work on improving the tracking anyway (because it isn't flawless but it's ok).
What I seriously don't like is the lack of being able to set buttons up the way you like.
Cori. How did you get to that menu!? -
Here you go...
-
Cori this is what I'm talking about. The 1a. option isn't there with my V400. It's there with my G5. How exactly did you get this to come up for your v400?
It looks like you are running setpoint on a mac. Could that be it I wonder? -
1a.???
I don't understand -
He means the extra options.
They come from a soft called "uberoptions". It adds more choices in setpoint.
The problem is that the place where we can get it down atm.
Try googling "uberoptions + setpoint"

Thanks for the version number Cori,
That is very odd, I have tried v2.6 setpoint and it still won't show :/
that program specific menu is sooo handy.
why did it show for Cori is beyond me, also notice how in Cori's screenshot, there are names of keys written infront of commands like Mouse:1. Mouse:2, those things won't show like that for me :/ also notice in the "Select Task" menu how many items he has listed
I think he is using windows Stickman, since in the list he has commands with "win" key in it, and Mac's setpoint looks different I think.
Cori, maybe you have install exe file saved somewhere on that particular setpoint? if you do please please host it for us!
Btw, while we are at it, Logitech's been taking things out of setpoint lately, like for example with logitech MX610, there are 12 buttons to configure in setpoint 2.42, in setpoint 2.6 there is only 10!
I've started a topic about that on logitech's forum.
also that program specific configuration menu we are talking about, there shoud be some way to hack setpoint and make it show up for all mice? :/ -
I used it playing UT 2k4 for a bombing and assault run. Worked out better than expected. I really like the mouse although I'm paranoid about it cutting off on me again.
The sleeping issue weird but I'd rather have it cut off to save power than to keep going if I ever left the reciever in my computer all day. -
Hey guys, I've got a good news, after messing around with logitech software, I found a way to enable that menu
1. Turn off Setpoint.
2. Go to...
Then, look up this line.........
so it looks like this...
After that.....
In Windows explorer, click on Tools, Options, then go to "View" tab, Click on "Show hidden files and folders" click OK.
Then..... go to
Change 0 to 1, so it looks like...
Run Setpoint software........ vuala!...... enjoy! one ice cream on you guys
and this menu can be enabled for all logitech mice that have xml customization.(some don't like logitech V200) atleast I could not find it yet.
For doubters......proof......
I bet your MX1000 does not have 1a. ........ yetLast edited by a moderator: May 6, 2015 -
With this all I get is the 1a Select Program:
and the programs I have in the menu are: outlook, word, excel, powerpoint
4 programs that the mouse doesnt matter in! -
-
-
Click on Manage Programs.... then click on Add.
-
neato, what Setpoint version are you running Cyber?

2.41 right now, but when I buy v400, will probably upgrade to 2.6
But I'm kind of surprized/turned off, on how much cpu cycles 2.6 uses compared to 2.41, trying 2.47 now... if it's not so hard on the cpu, will probably keep that. -
That's an awesome hack, I'll try it out later on.
-
just changed the battery on my v400....was appearing low for like 4 days and still working heh.
Good stuff atleast the odd tray icon is gone -
I have the receiver plugged into the USB port in the back, right next to air vent. When I touch the receiver it seems hot, do you think this could cause long term problems?
-
I have a general question regarding the V400. Today I was in a Harvey Norman store (Dandenong, Australia) and came across the V400 mouse. They were selling both the Orange and Grey versions and both had the "tuned" sticker on them. However, the orange one was selling for $59.95 and the grey for $89.95. The store was extremely busy so I didn't get a chance to ask anyone. Would this be a misprint or is there some other difference between the two colours
-
There isn't a difference between the two mice. And if there was, Logitech would have a lot of explaining to do. I don't think anyone has clue why retailers are selling the mice at different prices when it's just a color change.
Very strange indeed. -
no difference hardware wise

I know I've never posted in this thread before. But just wanted to say that I just ordered a grey one. Hopefully it will be good. I cant wait!
