How about that date expected(last week?)
Europeans? Help?

-
hey hey.... check this out:
http://shop.gameplay.co.uk/webstore...ech_v400_cordless_notebook_laser_mouse_-_grey
Released: 02 December 2005
gives a nice count down and all. -
that's interesting, they didn't have date before
anyone ordered from them before? how are they? -
Our local weekly ad for Office Max has a picture of the v400 on sale for $34.99. I haven't been to the store yet to actually see if they have any in stock, plus it doesn't list the logitech model number just an internal office max number. Also the office max website doesn't have any in stock. Was a Portland OR office max Ad.
-
Don't bother going to Office Max to get the v400 advertised in their current as this week, I made the trip for you. I went their and in their ad the have a picture of the v400, but when you go into the store it's actually for the v500. The had a sign for a v400 but no product or info on when it was getting in. I went to a local store in Vancouver, WA that is in Portland, OR metro area.
-
Sue em for false advertising!
Yea, I saw the sign for it too....
I asked one of the guys, he didn't even know that existed heh -
I've been checking the release dates on Mwave.com since it is only about a 5 minute drive from my house. I've been watching the date go from 10/18/05 to 10/25/05 to 11/15/05 to 11/22/05 and now they updated the orange model to FEBRUARY 15, 2006!!!
unbelievable. -
this mouse is a hoax!
-
I just know it has something to do with that dual laser technology! *slams fist into palm of hand*
-
They must be having production problems. Their press release said it was available in September! By the time this mouse actually makes it to retailers, my laptop will be obsolete!!! I'm very close to cancelling my order and going with something else.
[edit] Update...the dual laser chip for this mouse is produced by Phillips. See the following URL for details:
http://www.business-sites.philips.com/lasersensors/news/article-14803.html
It states that "Mass production of the PLN2020 twin-eye laser sensors is planned for Q4, 2005."
If we're extremely lucky, production started in October. However, when companies list that sort of prediction, it's usually closer to the end of the quarter before production begins. Given that Cori sighted one at a Staples store and we have reports of availability in the Netherlands (near Phillips HQ), they may have begun production of the chips in October, but large-scale production is probably slow to ramp up, and retailers (brick and mortar) will probably receive the first units, especially because of the holiday season. I haven't even heard of any sightings inside the U.S. -
HA! I knew it had something to do with the production... Brick and Motar? Ahhhh man. Ohhhh well. -
Hmmm....
Two Staples sightings IN STORE, both in Canada though
It was someone else, then I went and saw it too -
It's not on Staples.ca, though.
-
Yea, only in store
Nothing on eBay as of yet neither... -
I wish we knew why there are none around.
If this is a sign of production problems, it might be a good idea to skip the first shipment or two.
If it just late getting shipped, then we are OK.
I have a nice, new laptop that is just WAITING! -
I just went to the local staples and wanted to check out about them posting the v400 up on the wall but no v400. I asked the manager there and he said they havent shipped it out yet and i asked him when he would be getting it. He said they wouldnt advertise its picture if it wasnt comming out in the next couple weeks. He said they should be receiving it in the next 2 weeks.
We shall see if he actually knows what he's talking about. -
Next 2 weeks? Looks like the 1st week of December was the right day...
-
I walked into a Staples in the Detroit Metro area last Thursday and found a shelf sticker for the V400, but no stock and no display. Clerk said they should be in "any day". We'll see. Other online retailers updated their ETA last week to December 26th (darn!). Think it's any coincidence? I think retailers shelves are getting precedence over online.
[edit] Just noticed that Compusa has updated their website. V400 page now says "Available IN STORE ONLY. Not available online." Brick and mortar. -
I must be going crazy .... I've just read the last 12 pages of this thread, and I have yet to figure out why this mouse is so popular.
Anyone care to explain what I am missing about this mouse? -
Ahhh, SG - you don't understand boys and their toys
Probrably, its portable, it's a
LAZER
mouse, it has the forward/backward buttons, and its small, slim and cool looking -
-
Two!!
-
Mostly I want it because it's the only notebook laser mouse with forward and back buttons. Once you've had the forward and back buttons, it's hard to go to a mouse without them. It's a struggle everyday at work hitting the back button, only to find it's not there. Laser is also important since with a laptop, you never know for certain what surface that mouse will be running over. It's got to work on my jeans!
btw. Loved the Dr. Evil pic. -
Dual Laser Tracking
The Logitech V400 Laser Cordless Mouse uses a new dual laser tracking technology that is tuned to provide maximum surface coverage. Developed jointly by Logitech and Philips Laser Sensors, dual laser technology was selected for the V400 mouse because of its small size and tracking performance. It is based on Philips´ twin-eye laser technology embedded in the PLN2020 twin-eye laser sensor. The dual laser engine is packaged in a radically smaller, single-chip form factor a crucial feature that enables the V400 to be so compact, portable, and durable. Unlike most optical and laser sensors, dual laser does not take pictures of a surface, as do most optical and laser sensors. Instead, it measures changes in the frequency of reflected light as the sensor is moved at different speeds and in different directions. Working together, these two lasers provide extremely accurate tracking performance on virtually any surface ideal for a notebook mouse. As with all Logitech laser products, the laser is nearly invisible and very safe: It meets the Class 1M safety standard. -
I bought a V400 (in Switzerland). There was no choice as far as color is concerned. It is slate grey. No orange.
Now... I have a major issue withthe mouse... I have yet to find a surface on which it is precise and rapid. The behavior I have is that I have to often move the mouse quite a bit before it realizes that it is moving. And sometimes, I barely move it but it registers a large movement.
This is really bad when playing games (and also a nuisance in normal Windows operations).
Pity. My V500 was amazing, but after one year of intensive travelling and gaming, the left button switch bounces and I get random double clicks and sometimes it doesn't register clicks so I decided to change it. On the book, the V400 looked really promissing, it had all I wanted... size, form factor, supposed precision...
Unfortunately, the result now that I have the device is that I am going to buy a new V500 as I won't use my V400.
-
You forget that I am the only chick on here for the most part
I tempted to get this mouse just cause i need a new one, but i don't like the orange color (sorry coriolis).
SG -
Along with the delay, and this article, http://www.cooltechzone.com/index.php?option=content&task=view&id=1954
, im starting to think that Logitech may not have the laser technology under control, and it may not be the wonder mouse i've been waiting for.
A few days ago i looked at the logitech site in Switzerland(thinking it was most likely to appear at the headquarter country first), and it was'nt in stock there. When did you buy yours ? -
Found another thread about the v400. Seems they have some more information on the release of the mouse.
http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.aspx?catid=40&threadid=1734826&enterthread=y -
Ooohhh..
And SG, it come sin Orange and Grey -
Well, today CompUSA removed the "In Store Only" note from the mouse and went back to the normal "coming soon". I checked my local store yesterday, none there nor was there any spot where one should have been. Sounds like its not ready for prime time yet, from corwin's comments. This doesn't leave me too convinced that we'll be seeing it in a week or two...
-
I bought my V400 at a FNAC store in Geneva last week (Nov 9th or 10th). It was slightly cheaper than the V500.
-
Corwin, aside from the tracking difficulties, how do you find the ergonomics and design of the mouse to be?
-
I love the design of the mouse, in every aspect! I wish it came with a small carry bag like the V500, but I really like everything else of the mouse (appart from the tracking issues). Note that I've tried it this morning on a wooden table at the office and it tracked perfectly... so go figure. It must be surface dependent.
-
Man, no bag?
That's disappointing... -
No bag. So dust gets into every part of the mouse when you travel a lot. I was figuring on using the old bag (no pun intended) from the V500... but since I'm not happy with the V400 tracking, I still use the V500.
-
Bah, I should't of given my old v200's bag along with the mouse!
That was an awesome bag -
All-terrain performance merged with pixel-precise tracking .. pffft.
I'll most likely still buy it, but be ready to return it within 14 days, as the law allows me to do here, if i experience what corwin describes. -
And it also is a strange device as it is a composite USB device that presents itself on the USB bus as a mini hub, with, under it, an input device and an HID. Confuses some operating systems.
Works fine under Windows, though.
-
have any pics?
Have you ever tried Microsoft Notebook optical mouse? is it more comfy than that? -
Hmmmm, the v400 doesn't have that 'lifting' device the v500 did right?
-
The V200 came with a bag? I didnt get one.
-
It is just a cheap bag that really isn't a big loss. However, I have it, and it is useful, but I mean you can use any other pouch too. -
Nope. It's fixed geometry. But that's oK.
-
Oh well, doesn't matter
I'll probrably use a small bag from my SONY MDR-EX earphones, it fits my v200 fine before, and if the sizes are similiar.... -
Exactly. But I do hope they get their laser act sorted out. It's not useable on my home surfaces for gaming... whereas the V500 is.
-
<sigh>
The mouse looks like it fixes what is wrong with a lot of other mouses (meeses?), and......we can't get it!
As for the actual state of your mind, that is beyond my field of expertise. Therefore, I will accept your opinion. -
its "mice",
has anyone actually used this mouse, is it even comfortable? the v500 imo is not a comfortable mouse i hope this one is -
The mouse is now in stock on the danish Logitech site.
