You can get the V400 here next month it seems..
-
Same date as the store I pre-ordered it from(a few months ago
)
-
Hmmm, Logitech mouse I must check out.
-
Futuristic looking mouse. Wouldn't spend that much money on it though, it will come down soon.
-
69.99 retail but when I preordered it, got it for 49.99, so its all good
-
I got a rain check from Office Max for 35 and my dad got me a raincheck from Circutit City last month for 40. Spot on shelf, but amazingly no product lol.
-
Same heh. The v500 is under the v400 sign actually hah
But the price was still $69.99 everywhere here. -
-
It came out all over Europe this week, so it's likely just a matter of shipping time before it lands in USA.
About the firmwares, ive only seen G5 firmware. Can you link to the G7 one ? -
-
I'm getting the G5 tomorow, come on v400, come to papa
-
One of the nice things about the Logitech web site, is that you can select which country you are in.....
For Canada, they seem to be accepting orders and quoting shipping costs, but they do not have stock.
For the US, it just says "Notify me!".
For the United Kingdom, you can order now, with immediate availability. France is the same. As far as I can tell, this is for the grey version only, no option to order the orange version at all.
For Australia and New Zealand, the web site won't even show the page - says that the page is not available for my area.
For South Africa, the products are displayed, but no options for ordering or getting additional information.
I want the orange version for Canada.
Soon. -
I just went to Logitech UK website and it doesn't list the grey v400 anymore, only the Orange and no buy it now option
-
this mouse doesnt look too comfortable i dont know what all the hype is about
-
For some reason it has always seemed like mouse manufactures did'nt think notebook owners needed more than 2 (3) buttons, on their little mouse, UNTIL NOW. -
Yea, the front back buttons are a must for me
-
http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/productlist/GB/EN,crid=2140,categoryid=415
The listing for the V400 has a link to "Select Color".
Clicking that link takes you to:
http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/select/GB/EN,contentid=10915,crid=2146
This page shows a "Buy Now!" link for the gray mouse, P/N931453-0914, and no links at all for the orange mouse. -
-
I got an email from the dealer, the date of the Orange mouse has been pushed back to January 6 2006.
He said he will check the Grey mouse for that date -
sigh.... that mouse will never be released
-
lol foward and back buttons, lazy!, anyway i rather have a comfortable mouse than the buttons
-
I know LOL!
I got so used to it! I can't go back, its too awkward.
If its like the v500 but less blocky, it will be comfortable enough. I hope. -
i think I am gonna end up with the G5... this is taking forever
although looks very big next to my laptop 15.4" )
-
Yea, I just got the G5 as well.
So far, its been a disappointment, but its sure smooth as hell... -
-
SetPoint SCREWS everything up, so don't install it, just Plug and Play it. The lack of a forward button is pretty stupid, I miss it
I just uninstalled and rebooted my laptop, and now, the right click works again, as does the back button. The 4D scroll wheel is ok, but no point, Widescreen eliminates most sidescrolling now but for games, sure.
The Middle click, aka scroll click is nonexistant almost, since the scroll wheel is on a 360 axis, clicking down is almost impossible(I use middle click to open FF tabs) as it goes left or right most of the time.
This is for regular use though, for gaming, its been a blast. Paired with a Razer eXactMat, its so smooth and accurate...
Not for regular use, I'm sticking with my mx700 for regular use, G5 for gaming. -
My laptop (Gateway NX6627) is used for DJing. While DJing, I have some text windows open, and documents in both DeScribe and OpenOffice. The extra buttons on my MX510 and MX500 mice are invaluable for these things. I had hoped the ability to scroll sideways would be useful, since that is something I do at times, when looking through a very long list of files in a directory in LIST mode.
My way of working with computers is simple - if I am using the keyboard, I want to be able to use it for almost everything. When using the mouse, I want to be able to use it for almost everything. I hate having to switch back and forth. The extra buttons on mice have helps achieve this. A tiltable scroll wheel sounds like a great idea.
However.....
Having the mouse wireless is useful, but not critical. There are currently four USB devices plugged in (mouse, DJ Power dongle, ATI RWII remote control, ), and there are a LOT of wires around anyways, so having one without wires is a good thing. Then again, having a mouse that does not die because of batteries is a good thing.
Still, if the buttons are not going to work as I need, getting another MX510 might be an alternative.
Having a rugged mouse is imporatant. Having one that works well on a variety of surfaces is important. However, those are things one can work around.
Lots to think about..... -
You are in Toronto, I am in Brampton, so I guess we are in the same boat.
Who are you dealing with to get the mouse? -
Note, my comments were towards the G5 not v400, because I think you are talking about the v400 in your comments, G5 was the topic I described in my last 2 posts.
I'm dealing with an online shop, they've taken down the mouse since the date is still unknown but I'm very appreciative and impressed with their customer service.
Its at: http://www.cdromshop.com/
Very simple site, no design at all(no offense) but they had the lowest price and the only place in Canada I found it for sale(a few months ago anyways)
-
Futureshop has the MX518 for $39.99 this week, so I may go for one of those for now - put it onto my video editing maching, move the MX500 to my laptop. At least that way all my mice (also have an MX510 on another machine, and one at work) are the same size and have the same buttons. -
Yea, I like how Logitech isn't changing their design to something radical - If it works, stick with it!
I've owned the mx518 and it was one of the best wired mice I ever had, but the G5 beats it in terms of design and smoothness. But the G5 still have a few fixable flaws...
I'll await the email from the guys - I hope they grey version may be in stock earlier... -
So? Is it out yet?
-
Not yet hah....
I see it on a German eBay store though, in stock -
I passed by staples again and no mouse yestarday. I think im going to have a word with the manager i talked to last time and complain maybe he will give me a discount or someting when it comes out.
-
I have picked up a Logitech 518, whch is on sale at Futureshop, and used to to move a 510 to my laptop. For now.
A friend just picked up a Microsoft 6000 notebook mouse. Only one button, located on the side, which he reprogrammed as a double click. The 6000 has a tilt wheel. You can no longer reprogram the wheel click. Weird to have a mouse with no glow - the laser does not use visible light at all, as far as I can tell.
If the V400 is the same - tilt wheel, no reprogramming the wheel click - then I will have to pass on it. :-( -
-
-
-
Two things.....
First, that used to be true with MS mice, but was not true for my friend's new mouse.
Second, there was a report on another forum from a user with a tilt wheel mouse which could have the mouse click reprogrammed. That user indicated that the mouse would tend to register a sideways movement rather than a click.
This is part of the learning experience. These are things I will now look at before purchasing the V400.
If and when it becomes available in Canada...... -
I've been watching this thread with some amuzement at how much you guys like to talk about mice, so I thought I'd chip in that there's a review on the v400 on trusted reviews.
http://www.trustedreviews.com/article.aspx?art=2234 -
Sweet!
Thanks for the link -
OH FINALLY! *hugs this poster*
Pretty good review. Laser not exactly "all-terrain" but it's not like I'll be mousing on clear or reflective surfaces. The Reviewer didn't mention how easy it was to use the forward and back buttons but I assume since the mouse is so small that it probably works out fine. That first mouse looked pretty sweet too but that price, not so sweet.
Now all we have to do is continue doing what we've been doing from the start, and that's waiting. It's the first week of decemeber and I could have sworn that these things would start shipping. Furthermore, I went on to Logitech's support forums and someone said they got a call from Office Max since he had a raincheck on it and OM said that the mouse was "discontinued."
Logitech, you have surefire hit on your hands. What's taking so fracking long to get this over here? -
Thanks for the review!
But obviously, the reviewer is not a mouse fan, he left out lots of things in the review, and some "in use" pictures would be better. -
I just called Logitech Sales (US). The guy said that they have received word that the mice wont show up until mid-january at the earliest.
grr. -
god kill me -
January 9th-11th was the word for the orange version
-
.......
I mean really. When they first annouced the mouse it was supposed to come out that month. Logitech usually releases their stuff right after annoucing it. I mean everything else has come out on time it seems. What makes the V400 so special? I get the feeling that they are going to hike the price to $59.99. Here's hoping that they don't. -
this is a pretty rediculous thread, take a step back and look what you're getting excited about
you guys are some of the craziest mouse geeks i have ever seen.
-
Don't you know mouse is the most important part of computing!
and it's as close as you can get "into" a computer.
Personally I compare mouse to pen, and I love good pens, one of my dreams is to have custom made mouse(modified mx310 and 510)/mousepad(by func) and pen(by parker, modified jotter pen) -
I love pens and mice too. I have to use my two gel Dr. Grip pens for writing everything.
