Oye, 1st week of January it is..
I'm glad I got the G5, cos I can't wait that long without a good smooth mouse! -
have you tried the new M$ mouse? what an uncomfortable mouse, it kinda scared me, what if V400 is like this too? their(MS) previous version is really awesome, it's a small mouse but very comfortable.
btw, I tried G5 too, great mouse but omg, you need to have a schwarzengger fingers to middle click, why did they make it so tight?. lol -
i'm guessing you are talking about the Wireless Notebook Mouse ^^? I think MS mice are easily the most comfortable available, especially the Wireless Laser Mouse 6000, most comfortable mouse i have ever used.
compared this to the MX1000 and the MX buttons are harder to press and i didn't like the ergonomics as much, it is nice but i love my MS mouse -
<grin> -
:base: -
it isn't a goal if you have absolutely no effect what so ever on what is going to happen, if one of your goals in life is to wait for a mouse to be released then you should really think about that ^_^ ^_^
-
Never tried Laser 6000, might give it a try. -
The Wireless Notebook Laser Mouse 6000, and Wireless Notebook optical 4000, has a button on the left side.
It gets advertised as a magnifying button, but i wonder if it will work as a 'back' button, if you don't install the software?
Or maybe it will not work at all, without software..?
Is it a true size for the reciever compared to the mouse on the picture i have attached?
It looks HUGE...Attached Files:
-
-
lol of course not, the receiver attaches to the mouse from underneath, so it's smaller
I don't know about the button, though I guess it should be back by default(no drivers). -
what is wrong with installing drivers? it takes maybe 30mb at the most and intellipoint has a lot of nice features
-
I did'nt say anything is wrong with installing drivers.
But according to microsoft own advertising, it would give the button a magnifying function i don't really want.
Therefore i was trying to find out it i could get what i want, which is the 'back' button, by not installing it.
That being said, i've had many many Logitech mice though the years, and i've learned that the logitech software/drivers is definitely something i wanna avoid.
I dont have any experience with Microsoft mouse software. -
I've had no problems with Logitech drivers. I dont know why people make a big deal of it.
-
A friend purchased one of these recently. He reprogrammed the side button as a double click.
I have yet to figure out why Microsoft is making so much noise about "magnifiers". Their humpback split keyboards also have a button in the middle with is for a "maginifier". What, do they figure the majority of their customers are aging, and would jump at something that makes text larger?
Is this because anyone with good eyes is going to Linux? <grin> -
Works great!
The receiver isn't small nor huge. It does store nicely underneath the mouse. The laser is not visible to the naked eye which I find kind of strange.
The only thing I don't really like about it, is the smooth wheel. I prefer Logitech's clicking when the mouse moves. This is entirely for gaming purposes where I find the microsoft wheel to make it harder to cycle because I can't feel how many clicks I have gone through. -
-
Also in MX5 series, I hated that logitech driver was turning the 2 buttons above and below the scroll wheel into "cruise up/down" buttons, without drivers, they act a single scroll wheel "click" buttons.
If anyone uses Logitech drivers try Logigamer software for Logitech mice, really good.

hey guys, found a new review
http://www.vtr-hardware.com/articles/a7127_0.html
It's in French, but there are some nice new pictures! -
I still dont find anything wrong with the drivers beside the fact that it screws up my touchpad's speed. It makes it slower to move the curser but I never use the touchpad anyways. I can set the software to use the system speed so the touchpad and mouse and be the same speed but I like the acceleration that the software has for the mouse.
After looking through that French review of the mouse, I am not so anxious about it anymore. I already own the V200 and its a great mouse with side scrolling. For the back button, I use the middle mouse button click for back. When it breaks, Ill get the V400 or if I find a good price on it. -
Sounded like the V400 wasn't quite the perfection we expected from that French review.
-
Went to staples earlier today.... seems they took down the sign for the v400
that sucks
-
-
probably has a faulty engine or something, that's why all the delay, tracking on everything is the major selling point for this notebook mouse, and that's where it fails! logitech doesn't want to be embarressed.
btw,
EDIT: hmm image didn't hotlink
does this look comfortable to you? wouldn't it be better of the sides had oval fronts? I don't think that rectangle is comfortable for the thumb. -
I am very happy with my logitech V200. It even matches the colour scheme of my Asus Z71V. Not a bad pickup for $13CDN. -
where the heck did you get a v200 for $13?
-
ebay most likely
-
So i'm interested in this v400. Any new news on when its going to be available? Do you think they'll fix what sounds to be like a bad tracking problem?
-
So no stores are currently carrying them? I see Office Depot with it. http://www.officedepot.ca/ddSKU.do?level=SK&id=221136&&An=browse
Or is it one of those pre-order things? -
must be pre-order, you can't even buy it (well, you can pre-order, but they show no stock) directly from Logitech right now.
-
Still, when it's available I wouldn't pre-order it, it's better to play safe and see how reviews turn out. -
Today I picked up my V400. So far I'm little bit disappointed.
Mouse looks good and it feels great, but tracking is somewhat lousy.
I reall don't have much to compare with, this is my first notebook mouse, but comparing to MX 510, MX500, MS Intellimouse 3 and Intellimouse 1, V400 has worser tracking. It isn't large scale disaster but I expected far more from "all-terrain twin-laser mouse".
I tried on Everglide Giganta pad, I tried plain black Ednet pad, I tried on my table and movement is the same. On all those surfaces above mentioned mouses (except V400) do their job without any hickups.
What is the real problem ?
Well, I have Sony Vaio T350 with 10.6" screen and 1280x768 resolution. That is pretty high resolution for such small screen and all icons on desktop are rather tiny. Problem is, for example, when I want to click on some icon I have to slow my hand motion to hit it. If I do slow motion from left to right, it's all good. But if I go from right to left it seems like I'm doing one "step" toward icon and two "steps" back. If I do it faster it would go nicely, but then it's hard to hit icon.
I hope you understand what I'm saying here.
Perhaps on notebooks with larger screen this issue won't be that much relevant.
I'll put up more detailed review as soon as I get to know V400. So far, not that good... -
Thanks for the review Matta, I think I understand what you mean, it's precision tracking sucks.
btw, any pictures? -
Ah...
Seems like the Europeans are the guinea pigs
I'm pretty sure Logitech will release a firmware for it shortly...The G5 got one a few weeks after coming out, the G7 needs one, and looks like the v400 does too.. -
Thanks Matta. Yeah it does sound like they are the test subjects. Hopefully when the mouse comes to here we'll have it in both colors.
-
ouch! that's it, it's never coming out. Forget about it people.
-
Buy a Microsoft Wireless Notebook Laser Mouse 6000 instead.
It's available, it works, it got a side button........ -
-
It's not my link.
It's forum advertising..

sheesh! this is taking forever -
Which one is better - v200 or v500? Suggestions please. I just want to know if the v500 is worth the extra money. And, if v400 will be better than both of those?
-
oh man..... another month
lost, v500 does not have a third(middle) mouse button, so if you use firefox and use it's tab functions it can be a pain
I think most of the people are waiting for v400 cause it has forward and back buttons, they are just so handy. -
-
oh, I thought the eu usually gets products later than the usa?
Anyhow, if you want the grey one it should be already available(I want the orange one though)
-
ive still been looking everywhere cant find any even from europe. I did find one on ebay.

The grey version is definitelly available Europe, or at least in Belgium. The store where I ordered my orange one (4 months ago) called me a week ago and said it had arrived, but it was the grey one, so...
-
