I think the v500 looks better from the pics that ashley posted up.
-
-
better than the grey V400, yes, better than the orange one, no
-
Thanks for the review and pics Ashley
Juhaz, maybe you got one of those old versions? that's why they've been delayed, they had problems with tracking.
Ashley, how does the scroll wheel feel? is it sturdy? like MX3 series and 5 series or clunky like on MX1000? -
It feels more sturdy than it looks don't think it would break easily though it isn't as sturdy as my desktop mouse (Logitech V501)
-
-
there no "official" second version, like there was not for MX1000(it too had tracking problems), but that was the reason V400 was delayed.
-
I think the idea about a revised version has been born in this thread, and is just guessing.
It may, or may not, be true, but i dont think there is anything official about a second version. -
Looks like i'm sticking with my good old Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse.
I was really looking forward to the grey one too. No offense to anyone here but orange just isn't my color.
Edit: Looks like Mwave.com is expecting the mice to arrive on 1/17 (grey) and 1/21 (orange). My guess is this is likely to change. Any news on other expected release dates? -
It could be true, but logitech will never admit it anyway
-
Of course they will not admit it, the selling point of this mouse is that it tracks on everything because of the dual laser, if they said that's where their product failed, it would be bad.
I think I'll wait a little while too, and see how it'll go -
Pre-ordered it anyways, so I'll use the little bugger no matter
Also, usually at the begining, there are some woes, but later on it's pretty good. Such in case of my G5, early on, I ranted about it but after a firmware and a few days of usage, I must say it's an AWESOME mouse! -
HOly Crayola 4 pages since my last post this thread is movin now! lol
-
I got a reply from my retailer about the orange version... STILL no confirmed date.
-
Been using mine all week and its good. No complaints. I don't mind that its not Orange as it matches my laptop as it is. Definitely better than my old laptop mouse.
-
So it's not all that spectacular after all then.
-
thanks ashley...
*sigh* -
Got mine from Mediamarkt in Germany today. Tomorrow i'm bringing it back.
All-terrain laser my *ssI have some sort of a leather surface on my desk, and the mouse is awful on it. It works good on a white paper though.
DON'T buy this mouse, imho -
My life no longer has any meaning
-
LOL!
Yea...****
The date is further delayed, the store's supplier has again put it back as TBA...
Gahhh -
-
=) im using the v500 from logitech and i think its great =)
-
-
Yea....
Ugh....
I'm quite patient but honestly, I'm wearing thin....
Any Logitech spokesperson lurking here have any answers? -
pffff I'm starting to doubt now...
- v400?
- v500?
- ms wireless laser mouse 6000?
I still want the v400 but I'm really, REALLY getting nervous. -
I think my v500 is starting to crap out on me, it keeps skipping when i move it across a surface. It never did this before, just started doing this reciently. BTW this is my 2nd v500 cuz it did the exact same thing before. Looks like im gonna have to go buy another one and pull the ol'switcharoo and return it.
-
Man, I've ben waiting since September for this bad boy. I just spent an hour skimming through 33 pages on one thread (LOL!) and I'm wondering if it was worth the wait. Hopefully, the "unofficial" second edition is better than the first. Ashley's review seemed to be good. But, why in the heck would they put out a notebook mouse with no bag?? Every notebook mouse I have owned (V200 now) has had a bag.......
-
I just went out to purchase the microsoft 6000 laser mouse today at my local futureshop. Its not half bad i kinda like it. I purchased it for 69.99 + tax with the intention of returning it, just wanted to see whats its like.
So far its pretty good. I like the fact that there is no little red light under it since its a laser mouse. I gotta get used to using the scroll since im so used to the sensor on the v500. I just dont like the fact that when i scroll by using the wheel, its smooth. I like a mouse that when u scroll using the wheel u can feel the notches with every turn. Im sure its fine just need some getting used to.
I will be returning this mouse with in the next couple days cause 69.99 is just too much for a mouse and I will be searching the net for a better deal. Unless someone can help me out if they know a better deal in canada. -
Funny you say that because I was thinking of trying the same thing. Darn I wish the scroll wheel wasn't smooth though.....
-
Yea, lasers dont have the red light, opticals do!
-
Yeah it seems this microsoft 6000 doesnt work on as many surfaces for instance whenever i use it on my bed or on some cloths, the laser does not pick up a thing but my v500 picks it up fine. Im starting to really doubt the laser mouse but ill try out more surfaces tomorrow. Its 3:10AM excuse me while i go drink some jack daniels before i got to sleep.
-
It's just very tiny, and you have to hold it at the exact right angle to spot it. -
-
yup, you are able to return it with in 14 days at this certain store. I usually just come up with some lame excuse like "oh this mouse doesnt work on my computer, i didnt realize i needed a usb port" Or something like that and they will believe you. Or you could just say " I dont like this product" and they will take it back.
-
A friend picked up the MS 6000 notebook mouse, and let me handle it a bit. Seemed OK, but I am addicted to the exta buttons. The 6000 has only one button on the side, which he programmed to be a double click.
I have five computers with V510 mice, a V500 on my laptop, and a wireless trackback on one other PC. The side buttons and the buttons above and below the wheel are indespensible once you get used to using them! Replacing the V500 with something with fewer buttons will be very restricting.
The V500 will be replaced with a V400 Orange if and when they ship, and are reliable. If they can get the Orange ones to Canada before the end of the decade..... -
ok.... the microsoft 6000 mouse officially is being returned and im waiting for somehting else. It turns out that it does actually work on my bed (cloth) the only reason why it didnt work last night was because once the mouse is not with in 3 feet of the receiver it stops working. I thought it wasnt working cause it coudnt be used on my bed sheets. Now going from a mouse that i could use at extremly far distances to a mouse where im limited to 3 feet, its just terrible. I dont know if its just the mouse that i got, maybe its defective, but if its not, it sucks. The single side button is very useful i use it as a back button for when im surfing the net. I will be waiting for the v400's release.
-
I heard the wheel on the MS 6000 is smooth. Can someone confirm this??
:dell: -
-
Booooo for the smooth wheel
:dell: -
I asked a friend in Holland to buy two of those for me and finally got my hands on one of it. I'm in taiwan.
The other one is still in sealed pack.
First impression: the tracking does have issues. Works well on some surface but not for others. Overall tracking worse than even a MS cordless notebook mouse.
So my question is : How can one tell if it's 'generation one' or generation two?
Any official response from Logitech?, or something similar (though I doubt it since wireless is kind of tough to do fireware download from PC to the mouse) to the G5 firmware update?? -
What about a future firmware upgrade? Is there anyway to correct any tracking issues at that level? Or is it only at manufacturing level??
-
None as of yet, but I'm sure Logitech is cooking up one.
My G5 had major issues(Tracking issues) within the first few weeks of release, and soon afterwards, a firmware was released and it was pretty much solved -
I believe there is a reason they only made a firmware for the G5 and not for the G7.
Because it will not be possible to upgrade it over a wireless connection between mouse and reciever.
Therefore the v400 will not see any upgrades either. -
Ah crap.
Well.....errr
Crap. -
but that was the reason it was delayed in the first place... so they -should- be ok right?
-
-
And it is only one that has been positive.
Furthermore almost all the reviews and previews i've seen has mentioned tracking issues.
And afterall you gotta remember that the most important feature of a mouse would not be if its pretty orange, or has smart style, or has an extra button, but it is that it tracks correct, and does exactly what you tell it to do. -
You got that right, Speedy. I think everyone here would sacrifice "prettiness" for functionality. I think what draws people to this mouse is that is has both. But if the tracking is mediocre, then it doesn't seem quite as pretty.....
-
And somewhere earlier in this thread i posted a link to an article about the problems with G5 and G7.
So the G7 had the exact same issues as the G5, before the firmware release for G5, and Logitech admitted the problems in that article. -
When in wireless mode (vs wired mode), there need to be two active parties talking to each other, in this case, one USB dongle, one is the mouse itself. There is no way you can do firmware update (like overriding your own nerve system) while you're still alive...
Wired mode is a complete different story where the mouse is passive mode, just receiving commands from the PC via the wire...
1) Can the 1 out of 7~8 reflecting positive notes says something more detailed as to how accurate, like compared to a MX500, or any other mouses on the market?
2) If indeed it's not solvable, what can we (those of us already have the *luck* of getting our hands on the device) do??
