I never had any problems with the MX1000.

I use the MX1000 on my desktop. I opened the box and plugged it right in. Never installed the Logitech drivers. No need for the bulk. -
Logitech V400 has been out of stock or preordered for many weeks. Are they producing the second version?
-
iCamp - is that with the supplied base, or were you able to connect the MX1000 (standalone, not the one bundled w/ the keyboard) via BT?
I have one at home that I used for a while with my HTPC, but gave it up. I never tried it with my laptop, but if I need to keep the base connected, it's not worth a try. -
OK that's it. I cancelled my order and ordered the Microsoft one instead. At least this one is available AND able to track properly.
FU Logitech! -

Well, I have been looking for a mouse to take with me for a while, tired of sticking around for the V400. Looks great, but there are other choices . .
I'll probably either get the Targus Wireless Laser:

Or the Microsoft Wireless Laster:

Sorry Logitech! -
If you want a good mouse stay away from this one.
I ended up buying a Microsoft Notebook Laser 6000 and the difference is amazing. Could be that the Logitech V500 is ok as well but I don't like the shape at all and at this point I don't feel like giving Logitech another chance.
Serge -
My G5 is Dual Laser as well, no tracking problems with that...
Hmmm.....
It seems right when the little guy comes to me, I'm gonna do surery ASAP -
OK I just got my ms wireless notebook mouse 6000... it rocks! tracking is good, mouse looks good, feels good, the magnifier is a useful tool,... The scroll wheel is smooth though, but you just have to get used to it.. it's fine.
I've tried it on:
mousepad, paper, shiny magazine, clothes, wood and it all worked (except glass or mirrors of course).
The only disadvantage is, as far as I'm concerned, that it's made of shiny plastic so that's annoying when you got sweaty hands. -
I cant believe what has to be the longest theard in this forum Is about a Mouse. i still cant figure out what everyone is so facinated by the V400. I am also but i just cant figure it out its a mouse ****it
-
Well, it's the looks of it, and forward/back buttons.
-
i know there arent enough notebook mice with forward and back buttons. I just use a left and right school for forward and back on the v200 since both my laptops are widescreen ive never had to scroll left or right.
-
But to use those buttons as back and forward, you have to have drivers/software installed, not a good thing for a portable moues
-
-
I was talking about tilt wheel Camp, SRD was talking about it.
-
This thread is old as dirt and we were let down by Logitech. Sheesh.
I guess they can sit pretty for now on their new gaming mice and older notebook mice.
I say that they should go back to the drawing board and start from the ground up. Skip that all terrain dual laser mess and just deliver a mouse as solid as the MX1000 but made to go. -

4 days... Will they or Will They Not delay it yet again -
Apparently it's a shortage of an item for the V400 that delayed it.
From http://www.shareholder.com/Common/Edgar/1032975/1193125-06-18949/06-00.pdf
"In addition, success
in cordless mice sales in the first half of fiscal 2006, driven by introductions of new cordless optical and notebook mice products, was
restrained in the third quarter by a component shortage affecting the new V400 laser cordless notebook mouse."
Now, I HOPE that his component was intended for a V400 version 2, because if peeps reports are accurate, the mouse goes way too fast into sleeping mode and it's a nightmare to use..

ouch that sucks
either they are lying, or they think their mouse works fine.
Anyways it's good, when lots of people buy them and start returning them, they'll have to fix the **** thing eventually. -
-
two months ago I asked my friend in Holand to buy a V400 for me.
The tracking was so bad I put it on the shelf. Although the overall design is really good.
Then I bought the MS 6000 notebook mouse last week. Tracking is reasonably good BUT the overall design is bad.
So if and when the V2 version is released and tracking issue improved.
I'll go for it again...
I -
so you will have bought 3 (quite expensive) mice? whew
-
Attention, a v2 of the V400 is totally hypothetical and was never announced by Logitech; don't get your hopes up, a v2 will probably never exist :/
TSR -
Yea, it was somehow created in this thread haha
-
-
I just found a PDF for a Logitech year end report here.
http://www.shareholder.com/Common/Edgar/1032975/1193125-06-18949/06-00.pdf
It states that a component shortage kept the V400 from being released. -
whoa 43 pages..can you guys give me a quick update on the v400? is it still in production? or what? i have the v200 and would like to upgrade.
-
It is available in Europe (the grey version is), not yet in the USA or Canada. BUT the people who have it are not satisfied at all, bad tracking etc.
I bought the MS wireless notebook mouse 6000 and I'm quite happy about it. -
Yea, so far, everyone who bought it either returned it, or put it on the shelf because its so pretty
As of now, unless Logitech somehow fixes it, it is NOT worth buying. -
Stickman, you should edit your first post and add some links to this thread's pages about some unsatisfied buyers, we don't want them to read 40 pages and find out it sucks...
Or do we? -
I bought a V400 these days (the black/gray one) in Germany.
I love to have a cleared up desktop with only the things on it I am currently working on and not filled with cables and other stuff that is avoidable. So I am using the mouse for regular working there.
Although it is a totally wireless little office (three notebooks using a WLAN "Pre n" Router with a biult-in switch and a server connected to it, ISDN Fax over BT with any of them, three DECT-Phones over a ISDN Base Station) and although there are other wireless devices around in the neighbourhood, the mouse does not have or cause any problems in terms of wireless connections.
It is very accurate on the screen and I also do not remark any problems when not moving it for a while: The pointer reacts immediately.
Moving mice rather with my fingers than with the complete hand (and arm), this mouse is of perfect size for me. But this is individual and maybe it is not for you and your method.
The buttons and the wheel are okay, only the back/forward buttons could be more responsive. If you push them in a "wrong" angle it happens that there is no reaction on clicking, so you have to get accustomed at it.
Overall, I could be happy with my new mouse. BUT:
Tracking is rather poor. On my desktop, there is no problem. But using it on a wooden surface for example, it is rather complicated to get the pointer to where you want it. I doubt that the mouse would function always perfectly taking it with me to a customer and using it there.
EDIT: On some surfaces (also wooden ones) where other mice do not function properly the V400 does perfectly. On others it does not, while other mice do well. So this seems to be not a defect but a special property of the dual laser technology which simply leads to a different set of surfaces where it ist usable. -
Respectfully,
Ed -
If only the MS wireless laser notebook 6000 wheel had a bit of a click....

V400 is available in Israel, where I am visiting, for the equivalent of about US$ 85 (which includes 17% that might be refunded at the airport on departure). It is being sold at a national chain of computer accessories stores, Bug Computer.
In fact, in one branch, the first one in the display rack was even quite dusty from having been out there for so long.
Just got a V500 for $30 (after rebates) at Compusa, not sure if I should spring for the V400 just for the curiosity value. I think first I will re-read this thread more carefully to see what other early adopters think.
On an unrelated note, the new LG external DVD burner is selling here, at Office Depot and other stores, for exactly the same price I just paid for it at Best Buy in the States - the equivalent of US$ 135. Not sure why some prices are inflated ($85 for the V400), while others are more in line with global prices. -
falcon is it the black version available in Israel or the orange version?

Check out this quarterly earnings conference call transcript for Logitech quarter ending Dec 31, 2005.
http://hardwarestockblog.com/article/6003
The transcript is dated January 19th 2006, 8:00 AM. Do a search for V400 and see what is said.
Within the Q & A section, Guerrino De Luca (President, Chief Executive Officer) writes:
"I believe that while the supply of the V400 will not completely resolve this current quarter..."
He is talking about the short supply of the critical components from the third party vendor and refers to 1Q 2006. This means the speculation on this post provided by expected arrival dates by online vendors that the v400 will start shipping by the end of February is bogus.
Sorry to be the messenger of even more bad news. I have been waiting to dump my MS Wireless Notebook Mouse for months waiting for this. -
Shadow, I got the impression that it was mostly gray, but I think that only the trim is black, if I'm not mistaken. I know there were none with the orange trim, I looked specially.
I saw it in two Bug shops - downtown and at the Malha Mall. Office Depot didn't have it, but maybe they have it on their website (the Israeli site).
Logitech has a local office in Tel Aviv, I remember calling them some years ago when I lived here for a while. I can try to look up that number if you are interested in calling them - they will be the best source for info about what's in stock and where. Maybe the orange one is available at some smaller specialty shops in the Tel Aviv-Sharon area.
edit to add a tangentially-related question - I just started using the V500, does anyone know if there is some way to program the vertical scroll buttons so they scroll through the entire screen when they are pressed and held down? And is there any way of getting a double-click programmed into that center bar somehow? I installed the software but the options seem really meager. IIRC, my older Logitech mice had more programmable options than this one. -
hmmmz
the V400 has now just disappeared from the Belgian logitech website... what the heck is going on?
-
The V400 Orange is available everywhere in France since yesterday.
Later,
TSR -
Hmm maybe they are finally rolling in a "fixed" version? Shadow have you tried that orange one?
-
I wished! I will buy it in the coming days.
I really hope the auto-sleep feature has been corrected.
Later,
TSR -
Please don't forget to post here, if you buy.
-
I haven't seen anyone do a "live" review, so I did a small flash screencast that hopefully illustrates the kind of awful tracking issues I'm sometimes seeing (it's not always this bad, it's behaving pretty well right now - on exactly the same surface as before when I recorded that)
See it here: http://www.saunalahti.fi/~juhasah/kuvia/logitech_laatua.html
Anyone care to comment if your problems are similar? -
Yowch.....not good.
-
LOL ! Very nice review there Juhaz..
That mouse is just crap. Try again Logitech. -
Juhaz, you must have bought the first black version. Now that Orange version is out, maybe some issues were corrected... i'll let you know because i still plan to buy it.
Later,
TSR -
LMAO Juhaz thanks for the laugh, that was awesome.
-
heh, awesome indeed
By the way! I've been using the wireless notebook mouse 6000 for a week now and:
- clicking makes this extremely annoying sound (beep)
- the scrollwheel is stuck sometimes
- the left button is stuck sometimes
Great huh? -
None of these things happens to mine.
