Just got the orochi in today, I gotta say, I love it! I was using an old logitech BT mouse from 2004 so it really doesn't take much to surpass that, and really I wouldn't have bought a mouse other then the logitech mouse wouldn't scroll properly on my laminated particle board desk unless I used a sheet of paper or something, the orochi has no problem scrolling. The old logitech dropped the connection and sometimes wouldn't connect at all, its too soon to tell if the orochi will have issues with BT but the fact it showed up as "Razer Orochi" and not "BT travel mouse" is a good sign and its quick to connect too
-
I too, will be getting an Orochi when my laptop comes in, but, as for my desktop, I will always use my G9....until it dies and then I'll just buy another.
-
i use a HP Voodoo DNA gaming mouse at the moment, fits my hand pretty much perfectly, is much better than my old sidewinder

I have the old G5[single button], G9, and just bought the Razer Mamba. Here's a mini review on it.
Since I've been using my G9 for almost 2 years it feels a bit odd on the Mamba. But I quickly adapted, just as I did for the G9 when I first got it. If you're planning on using this on a laptop, forget it unless it's a stationary laptop. You must have the charging base plugged into the computer to act as a wireless adaptor. I have my adaptor a few feet away from the mouse as I wanted to keep it out of sight. The mouse is still responsive, no lag. I moved it a few times around tp test it, even behind my 28" monitor and it's still lag free and responsive.
Being at 5600 dpi is very sensitive. I had to slow down a bit when moving the mouse. Moving up from 3600 dpi, it didn't feel all that weird, but it was moving very fast across my monitor. I adjusted really fast. I didn't bother with the software after installing the drivers and firmware. I left everything as it is.
I did run into two issue. I'm not sure why but the drivers and firmware from Razer did not download correctly. I had to redownload them a few times before they finallt installed. The second issue was that I didn't know what happened when I upgraded the firmware. The mouse just stopped working. Now I did this in wireless mode, instead of wired mode. I quickly read the manual[I hardly ever read them], and figured out I had to resynce the mouse to the base. I didn't think I would need to do this as it was already sync with the base out of the box.
I haven't game yet on it and will later on. I will go wireless and see if there are any lags or responsive issues. Unless I edit my post, I will assume it all went well. I originally bought this for my upcoming G73, and yes it'll be mostly stationary, but I might keep this on my main computer and look at the Orochi for the G73.
So far so good, but since this is my first Razer product, I'm not sure if it'll last as long as my G5 and G9. Looks like a keeper unless the wireless part falls apart and isn't responsive or lags too much. I'll just keep the G9 if I'm forced to use a wire mouse. -
G9 all the way!
It's proven to be really reliable for my usages. -
I want to check out the Cooler Master SGM-600 : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826570005
anyone try that one yet ? -

I can only speak for the Logitech G5 which I've had for over 4 years and it still works like new. It's a great mouse, I love how it feels and how it tracks. If I had to replace my mouse right now I'd definitely get the G500.
-
G7. I have one for each of my computers, plus 2 extras when my current ones break.

I've been using a Logitech G5 for a while now as well, but I have a Logitech MX518 safely tucked away as my 'spare'
-
The Logitech G9 is quite possibly the most comfortable gaming mouse ever made. I can't imagine using a different one; and I'll probably replace this with another G9 when it dies.

My Orochi's right mouse button's having problems. Most of the time I have to press extra hard for it to click... returning it soon and getting an Abyssus.
-
That sucks...my Orochi's doing just fine after a month now, and my girlfriend's has been good as well since Christmas.
Well, hopefully the Abyssus is the right one for you this time! -

I only noticed it after using my P90 akimbo in MW2. The left gun ran out of ammo while the right had a full magazine... I still won the fight though
-
That's what you get for doing a run and gun class
My favorite to date has been the copperhead. I bought one and I'm still using it, now closing in on four years ago (check amazon.com, my review is the top rated review on the blue razer copperhead. That'll tell you when I got it lol) -
I'm going for the Razer Naga
-
I just bought myslef a razer deathadder 3500 dpi to replace my old 1800 dpi deathadder. love the braided cable and higher dpi. it also feels like it glides much smoother but its probably just because my old feet were worn out.

ineed a gaming mouse pad... any suggestions -
Here's some pics of the pad i use for my mouse. i have no idea what its called but it looks like a steelseries to me. i'll try find out a bit more info.
pics look a bit average.Attached Files:

that mouse pad looks exactly like my exact mat except its not double sided.
-
I use the G 500, after my G5 died due to cable problems...
Think the extra buttons and profile settings are a great addition to an already great mouse. The extra speed isn't necessary for me though 'cause I use 2700dpi or whatever... -
@xxERIKxx
lol i bet they are the same, just that it former isn't a brand-name (and doesn't have dual sides, but honestly, i *would* use one side and use that all the time). -
yeah i only use the speed side for gaming but i like the control side for painting and stuff like that.
-
-
Yep, that is the exact same shape as the Razer eXactMat, but without the dual-sided design.
No logos or brands or anything on the underside? I'm pretty sure SteelSeries doesn't have a pad with that shape. -

I just received my Razer Orochi a couple of days ago ( the first 'gaming' mouse I've owned, even though gaming was not my motivation behind purchasing it) and I have nothing but praise for it so far.
Unlike a lot of smaller mice I've tried/used in the past, I don't find myself thinking that the Orochi is too small, it's really surprisingly comfortable given it's diminutive size.
The build quality is excellent and the responsiveness is great - it's almost too quick for me, I've had to turn down the cursor speed on my laptop
So, to any undecided individuals out there, if you're looking for a bluetooth mouse or a notebook/laptop mouse, then believe the hype, the Orochi is as good as everyone says - and if like me, you're looking for a bluetooth mouse for a laptop, then it is perfect. -
Getting a sidewinder X8 but have an mx518 as a spare
-
In the past I've been touting the Deathadder as the best mouse ever made, but after using the G9x for a week, I hereby declare the Logitech G9x to be the best mouse ever made. Ever.

Microsoft comfort + razer precision = best of both worlds
Habu mouse ftw -
To those that have the Orochi, do you use it as your primary mouse, even when not on the go?
If I do get it, I'll be using it as my primary mouse for my laptop both at home and on the road. I'm just a bit worried about it's size, although I've been using one of these for over a year now, and it hasn't bothered me. -
I generally use my full-size Razer DeathAdder as my main desktop mouse, but I'm on the road with my 1201N and the Orochi for several hours a day. It's extremely comfortable, even for long periods.
-
I prefer full-sized mice. I have big hands so I need something that fits my hand well. The Logitech G9 fits the bill perfectly with three different types of grips, a weight system, braided cord, excellent laser tracking, and plenty of DPI.
-
Yeah, you can never beat a full size mouse for general use. Before I got the Orochi, I used to carry my DeathAdder around in a sock.
But for its compact size, the Orochi sure tries damn hard to compromise nothing, and all things considered it does a good job. -
fourth...as in it's the fourth best mouse out there. the only better options in ascending order are Razer Deathadder, Roccat Kone and Razer Mamba. -

For me, I have to say my Logitech VX Nano has done me very well throughout the last year or so, it has been perfect for gaming, and all round use as I have relatively small hands. Also, I have had no problems with lag or anything while gaming as you might expect as it's wireless. The Nano dongle is perfect, you literally just pop it in a spare USB port and forget about it! You can get them on ebay for around £20 or ~$30.

Thanks to everybody who replied I really appreciate it!
One last question. How is the middle click button on the Orochi? My current mouse's scroll wheel is really hard to press, to the point where my finger starts to get sore after a long period of internet browsing and opening new tabs. If I'm going to be spending that much on a new mouse, I don't want any sore fingers to come along with it. -
My Orochi's middle click is fairly light. It takes just a little more force than the left or right clicks, probably just as much as the thumb buttons. I also use it to open new tabs, and I've never gotten tired of it.
-
Perfect! This looks like the perfect mouse for me then. Thanks.
-
I prefer a wireless Logitech over a Razer copperhead because my hands get so sweaty. I just can't handle the type of plastic that the side of that Razer has, so I guess the Logitech G9x is what I'm looking at now.
With that said, what sort of plastic/rubber is the side of the Razer Orochi made of? That's the Razer I would choose, assuming that it's big and heavy. -
its not big and heavy and its shiny polished plastic.
-
Thanks altoid, +1
I'll go with the G9x then.
I've used the G9x (I believe, but maybe an older version...) before, and I really liked one of the attachments; it was a soft rubber that was absolutely perfect for wet hands lol. -

i would've definitely bought the G500 if it costs this much!

If, God forbid, my Habu dies on me, I'll RMA it, sell the new one for fun and profit, and try out a G9. I've been curious about that mouse.
So wrong without context. -
