    I don't know.

Why don't you email Yap, the guy who sells the Zeroshock on Ebay, and ask him? He is easy to deal with; sells tons of these, and might know.

    Hey guys,
I've just bought a Lenovo X301 and I'm looking at getting a sleeve for it. I've heard pretty good things about the Zeroshock III. A question though, the front pouch, what would fit in it? Would I be able to fit an external (2.5") drive? Or perhaps the bay battery or charger even? (The charger of the X301 is pretty slim).

    Thanks
    Michael

I've the exact same laptop as you do. I just recently ordered the white zeroshock case from ebay, as I heard on these forums, forgot where, that the zeroshock fit the n80 extremely well. It was a different model, the one with 5400 rpm drive, but i believe they are the same dimensions. If you want, I can let you know how well the x5 fits in it once I get it. I ordered the 14" one.

The 15.4" zeroshock fits the hdx16. It fits inside the edge lining also so the zipper won't scratch it.

Could someone comment on how large the front pocket of the Zeroshock III is (13.3" version) ?
    Is it large enough to fit an external DVD-RW (143mm (w) x 144 mm (d) x 20mm (h)) ?
    Thanks

Fits perfectly. The height of the notebook has the most spare room, while the depth and width are perfect. Even the height is close to perfection, with only a bit of extra space. I got the white version and it looks quite nice. The power brick does fit, but you can definitely tell its in there. You could more than likely fit a small notebook mouse in it as well.

Hey guys, I will be the first to say this perhaps, but I have a Zeroshock case and am skeptical of how much it protects. The memory foam is "nice" but is it a little too stiff? It would only deform under constant pressure it seems, and with a fast hit it wouldn't absorb shock as well. Although, it would definitely transfer shock throughout the entire case much like a hard case would.

I would definitely be interested in seeing some real life tests--for example, a piece of glass in a zeroshock case vs a normal neoprene sleeve, and then having things hitting it at differnet velocities, having it being dropped, etc.

    Looks like a great case. I'm getting a samsung nc20, and it's dimensions are 292mm x 217mm x 31mm. The 12" zeroshock III case is W290×D40×H240mm.
Will the 2mm on length make a difference?

    Thanks.

Ditto...I only have orange and black, though I can foresee the orange one getting dirty too. The black is the way to go, IMHO, unless you don't mind replacing it every so often if it gets too dirty.

I am wondering if you can apply something to it, like Scotchguard, to repel stains.

Awesome, I'm glad I just ordered a black.

Actually, I had a Zeroshock for my netbook which I sold, but am ordering another one for my new laptop. I'm still not convinced that the thin, rock-hard memory foam will actually provide good protection--maybe a thicker neoprene sleeve would offer more cushion and better shock absorption (I agree that the thinner ones are junk).

It will make NO difference. If it does, you can take a file and shave off a couple inches from your laptop easily (plastic case).

I'm not sure, but i believe a stiffer foam would protect a piece of glass more...less deflection, more spatial displacement of energy. if the neoprene is squishy and coushiny, it would just deflect and go straight to the glass...that's what it seems like to me anyhow...
    http://shinza.com/product_info.php?products_id=46
They have that exact test on the old ZeroShockII product site...then again, it is marketing, so who knows how accurate it is. If i can find cheap panes of glass, i'd be more than willing to give this a shot, but i have no neoprene cases.

I have the original zeroshock, and the zeroshock II for my old 12" lappy. The interesting thing is that the original was much more pliable and had more of a "squishier" feel to it, tho it still took constant presure (more time) to deflect and make an impression. From what I read on this thread, the ZSIII is still much like ZSII, except for the addition of the zipper pouch on the front.

If anyone has an old neoprene case they don't need, if you want to send it to me i'd find some weights and glass and run some tests of my own with all 3 :D I'll even post methodology and take any suggestions you guys might have ;)

Now, I have a question of my own, does anyone have the laptop bag?
    http://shinza.com/product_info.php?cPath=5_10_23&products_id=91
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370175067686
there's also a slightly larger one for 15" laptops. However, according to the dimensions, it(11-13) will fit my HP dv4 very sunggly...infact, the 14-15 has a whole 1.2" more on either side than the 14" sleeve, I wonder why? But I don't care...this adds two pockets for adapters, mouse, drives, disks..whatever...
i want i want i want...but yap's shipping is 4 bucks more for the bag than for the sleeve. ~53 bucks total from yap. the shinza site is 2 bucks more base, and shipping is probably same as sleeve, 9 bucks to me. But hey, surprise, they're out of stock...

I just got my 14.1'' zeroshock III sleeve from shinza ... it came faster than my laptop so I can't comment on the fitting yet.

I definately like the side protection around the zipper, way better than any neoprene sleeve.

there is a little buffer/padding around the zipper which gives it added protection if dropped on the side. I think this will also prevent the laptop from being scratched (by the zipper)

I just got this for my UMBP 17" and I like the material inside. However, it is a bit loose on the laptop. I could understand though because most laptops aren't nearly as thin at the UMBP 17".

I will be getting a hard case though, which should increase the thickness a little bit.

The laptop slides around a bit when it is inside. I'm not too worried though.

The inside memory foam is definitely interesting. It is hard, and I'd imagine it'd be beneficial if the laptop was securely fit inside the sleeve.

Can anyone else give some input whether it slides around inside or not?

    Thanks!

    Ronnie

What if you put it in say a neoprene sleeve first and then inside the zeroshock III ? That should make it a tighter fit but might be excessive.

That would definitely be overkill. I'm not going sky diving with the laptop. LOL.

I think getting a hard case might be overkill but a hard case (SeeThru) will be good for using it anywhere too.

my latitude e6400 fits well inside the 14.1 inch case, theres some extra space for the laptop to be "taller" but it doesnt shift around at all inside.

should it be the biggest (40-29, 17") size?
and don't know yet if i should get it from Shinza or Yap :)

i think i'll go for the Zeroshock III, i read it's a really good stuff.
what size do u think will be good? there's a 15,4" (37 cm * 27 cm) and a 17" (40 cm * 29 cm).. based on the specs i'd say i should go for the 17", but i heared many cases when the SXPS 16 fit in a 15.4" case too, i'm afraid the 17" may be too big to fit in my bag, also it would be still better then buying the 15.4" and finding out my laptop's not fitting in there.

I did. The security guards saw no need to take the laptop out of the Zeroshock.

    edit:
Sometimes they do want you to take it out. I guess it depends on the airport or the guard.

meanwhile i asked yap on ebay and replied this:

    "Hi there,
Thanks for asking. you should go for the 17" case as the 15.4" is too small. I've many customers that purchase the 17" case for XPS 16."

i checked and he really sold some 17" cases for SXPS16 and all the customers were happy with it, so i think i'll go for it.
edit: just ordered it from ebay (yap)

    hp tx2500 12" - 12.1 x 9.7 x 1.5
    zeroshock 12" - 11.4 x 9.4 x 1.6
    zeroshock 13" - 12.4 x 9.3 x 1.6

I just bought a Toshiba Satellite A505-s6965, which is a 16" screen. I have looked on Toshiba, and unless I am completely overlooking it cannot find the size specs.

I want to get one of these zeroshock III for it, but not sure, do I need the 17, since I can't locate Toshibas actual specs. I know I can measure myself, but the last time I did that on my tectra for another type of sleeve, it still didnt fit right.

    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

    The dimensions of the Toshiba A505-S6965 are 15.1" (W) x 10.2" (D) x 1.43"/1.61" (H) as taken from http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/content/product/pdf_files/detailed_specs/satellite_A505-S6965.pdf

Refering to the table at Shinza, you should probably be looking for 40-29 as 37-27 will probably be too small (unless they can stretch enough).

    Size table: http://shinza.com/customer-care#answer8

Hope this helps and keep us posted on your purchase decision! :)

This comes as a late reply, but however... Just for updates.

Elecom has recently launched 3 new custom sizes for the Apple Macbook series. Namely the 13.3" for Apple Macbook Pro/ Apple Macbook Air and previous gen Macbooks. 15.4" and 17" for Apple Macbook Pro.

Designed specifically to fit these Macbooks. Available only in black or white. :)

As for the netbook community, the 8.9" wide UMPC size fits most mainstream 10" netbooks, even up to the latest HP Mini 5101. (Tested only with 4-Cell battery).

There are also different sleeve series that caters to netbooks. One that is worth the attention will be the Elecom Actmobile Semi-Hard case... Available in 8.9" and 10.2" sizes, with 6 different colors to match each consumer's preferences. Again, the 8.9" fits most mainstream 10" netbooks, for those who have extended batteries the 10.2" should help to cover the excess bulge. Refer to the official Elecom website for exact dimensions and more info..

Also available in custom size for the Sony Vaio P.

You may also checkout my website for the available details. :p

i got my zeroshock, i like it (though it's a bit oversized for my lappy and it's fitting barely to my bag, but in theory my lappy wouldn't fit to the smaller 15.4" one so i didn't really have a choice) and i have a probably silly question about it:
inside the bag, there's a lug (i don't know what for) and on that there's also some plastic thing (which i also don't know what is for but beside this i also found it dangerous, i think it could scratch my laptop).
a photo (sry for quality): [IMG]
    so, my questions:
what's that lug for inside the bag?
should i remove that plastic thing on it? (it seems to be attached to the lug so i should destroy it to remove it)
