    Hi All.
I'm waiting for an AS1410-2936 from Frys. I was wondering if a WD 320GB Scorpio 2.5 drive would fit. Or if anyone has a better suggestion for a drive. Very impressed with the amount of knowledge in this forum.
    Thanks for any input.

I have been trying to get a 1810T these past few weeks in the States to no avail. Have one on backorder and they do not know if they will get any in on time before Xmas as it is to be a gift.

The question is would I be better off settling on the 1810Z as they are currently in stock? I would get a 2MB ram stick and bump it up to the 4MB total and thus equalling what the 1810T has. Looks like the only other difference is the processor. How much of a difference is there in the processor, will I notice it? What else does the 1810T have over the 1810TZ?

Thanks in advance for your info and advice.

If you won't run Virtual Machines and won't be doing heavy compiling, you are fine with the SU4100.

I have an problem with my 1810tz,I have artifacts when enabling video card acc with mpc hc,with vlc player the image is good, but the cpu is to slow to handle 1080p with vlc player.

    I have played a game(wolf ET)and that looks fine,no artifacts.

I have tried everthing so far, downloaded the latest chipset driver, the second newest vga driver, tried every bios  .But nothing helps to fix this problem.

Anyone else have the same problem,or is my unit messed up :( =

I have this issue with the new OZC system memory and with the orginal memory, what could be wrong?

I used my inear headphones on my 1810tz and had to learn there are these very annoying beeping sounds even when I disable or mute the audio output. It also seems that the sound is only there when the CPU is idling or not doing much. Any suggestions on how to fix it?

    Dear,

I bought this bluetooth module and it works perfectly, Perfect seller, very good package and fast delivery (less than 2 weeks for Europe). This item is exactly the same as the standard bluetooth module (same drivers).

I have updated the 1810tz with an intel ssd!.The speed diference is incredible!.My i7 (no ssd but an wd black)sytem is slower when booting up then little lappie!.

I have one complaint about the build:

The HDD mounting sytem is horrible, the ribbon cable is very fragile!the HDD connecting system is not good either, in my opinion.

Hi all! Just picked up a 1410 and wanted to add internal bluetooth module. I noticed alot of people using this module that uses the Broadcom bcm92045 Bluetooth 2.0 from ebay:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/acer-AS1410-AS1...8d0c299a&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&afsrc=1&afsrc=1

There is another seller that has a 5 pin cable Broadcom BCM92046 Bluetooth 2.1 here:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/New-2-1-EDR-Ace...emQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item439bb59894

Any idea if this would work in a 1410? Wouldn't 2.1 be more beneficial than 2.0?

I'm using the BCM92046 with the exact same cable. Works perfectly. My friend bought an 1810T and his bluetooth module was the exact same - BCM92046.

has many tried using their 1410 (for me su3500) to watch hulu HD? seems a little skippy-tried using flash 10.1 beta, but seems to get better if i turn hw accel off. or maybe changing power option to 'high performance'

btw for gestures and 3 finger flicks in win7, u can just dl the latest drivers directly from synaptic's site: http://www.synaptics.com/support/drivers and after installing, just click on the rightmost tab (device settings), then settings to change all the good stuff

    Good. I got it.
I liked that now I can define actions for the four corners in the touchpad.
You can choose from several options.

Their web site recommends that you get drivers from the web site of the laptop manufacturer (i.e., Acer), because there may be vendor-specific customizations in their drivers. The Synaptics site says something similar with respect to their trackpad drivers.

I'm guessing that we don't really need to be concerned about this and it's OK to just use the latest drivers directly from Realtek, Synaptics, and the others? Has anyone encountered any problems doing this?

For other OEM like Dell it is advisable to get Dell package drivers, for Acer NO because they are too freaking lazy to update...their OEM drivers are even more outdated than drivers offered in Windows updates

i have 1x 2gb and 1x 1gb stick from samsung and both are spd modded to 800mhz.
i clocked my su3500 to 1781mhz (255mhz fsb) and i run prime for over 3hours till now, so the ram seems to be solid stable @ 508mhz with 6-6-6-18 !!! ;o)

i also use the 1986 under win7 with no probs. i like it for the custom resolution option the older ones dont have.

    Both video drivers are problematic

old 1892: Garbage cursor after screen rotation/touchpad scrolling. Not sure if there are other ways to reproduce it.
new 1986: Fix the bug above, however, if you unplug AC adapter, FN+F4 to put the computer to sleep, plug the AC adapter back, wake up the computer, the screen display will be completely corrupted. A workaround is to wake up the computer on battery first then plug the AC adapter later, the display will be fine.

I've been using the 15.16.2.64.1986 video drivers to take advantage of the Adobe Flash GPU acceleration. Today when I plugged my laptop up to a TV via HDMI, the image on the TV was pink. I think I remember someone stating this was occurring with this driver earlier in the thread. Is there a workaround for it besides reverting back to the 15.15.6.64.1892 drivers?

Dunno about the 1892 drivers but I found that the 1986 one made a big difference with some of the more intensive 1080P stuff over whatever version it shipped with. It allowed the Olympic 1810T to play the famous 1080P Planet Earth clip almost perfectly (3 dropped frames during the bird scene). Haven't run into the 1986 bug(s) yet...

Give that clip a whirl and see what happens.

Since the display on the AS1410 and the AS1810 is the same AU Optronics B116XW01, I am surprised that no one here has posted a color profile for the LCD. I don't own a Spyder color configuration device, but I'm sure some of you do and may have made a custom profile for your display? Mine is heavily blue and if anyone has made a custom sRGB or ICC profile, could you please share it?

    +1!!!!

Mine is kinda yellowish, so all I did to make it better was turn down the contrast to minimum in display settings =( It'd be great if we could get a color profile!

Finally, after waiting more than a month, my 1810t got shipped... (Win7 64bit and SU7300)

Some questions, probably already been answered: All the Acer Bloatware, is anything needed or even useful? Should i create recovery images and do a clean win7 install to get maximum performance, or will deleting all crap manually do it too?

The Undervolting for getting max battery life: Will this work for the 7300 too? I guess there has to be a difference, as the 7300 has a different speed stepping compared to the 3500/4100?!

And should I update the BIOS to the newest version? Will i gain something with that?

Hello All - a new Acer 1410 user here.. not new to computers, just new to the Acer 1410.

I'm considering getting another battery for my 1410. In searching the web, I see many 'claim' to have the battery - but the picture in the ad is wrong. Looking on the battery it has a number UM09E31. When I search for this I find..

"The battery is Acer part number UM09E31, but as of October, 2009, there was no source for that battery. Acer's warranty requires a lawyer to decipher, saying to contact a "Call ..."

Has anyone purchased another battery, and if so, can you let me know the part number and where you purchased it.

*** Just saw another thread about 1410 batteries - seems many are having issues here. Being new, I focused on this thread for information - but now see other battery info...

*** As a follow up, from assistance here, got the UM09e36 battery from cheaplaptopbatteries.com - it's on order.. 5200mah.. thanks

Also - on Bluetooth, I spent an hour on the phone with Acer Tech support (before finding this forum) - as I assumed my 1410 came with B/T.. as many of you know, it did not. The Acer Tech guy told me to send in my laptop as he was sure I did not know how to turn on the B/T radio. I have a Fed-X number from Acer.. but am sending them a letter, using the Fed-X number, as I don't trust them with my 1410 and the installed software. I am requesting they send me a B/T module as they agree, it should have B/T installed. I have mentioned it will void the warranty if I install the module, but I don't care - I'd rather install it (if they send me one, which I doubt) than sent the computer to them. I've had the 1410 for about 4 days now - have read all the info here - and appreciate the comments on all topics.

Hit the restore defaults button when you've selected the TV in Intels control panel in the Color settings tab. It's just the color settings for the external display in the 1986 driver that is screwed up, restoring it to defaults does the trick.

I updated our Olympic Special 1810T to the latest BIOS, touchpad driver and display driver with no problems. The display driver made a big difference for 1080P. I also just manually deleted all the bloatware with no issues.

Hope this is simple.. how do I tell which chipset version I have? I want to compare what I have with what is on the Acer web site, and determine if I should upgrade.

    For instance.. the web shows,,

Chipset Intel Chipset Driver 8.15.10.1808 - how do I tell which I have?

Chipset Intel Chipset Driver (GM45_PM45_GL40_945GMS_945GSE) 9.1.1.1015 - how do I tell which I have?

    and so on.,.,

    Thanks

Thanks, I have done this - just now, but don't see information about Mobile Intel® GS45 Express Chipset - current driver number.

    The Acer web shows.
Chipset Intel Chipset Driver 8.15.10.1808 - how do I tell which I have?

Chipset Intel Chipset Driver (GM45_PM45_GL40_945GMS_945GSE) 9.1.1.1015 - how do I tell which I have?

I don't see which Chipset Intel Driver number that is installed now on my computer,,, did I miss something?

Don't blame you for not sending your netbook in for the bluetooth that the specs say isn'i included, THEY MUST NOT KNOW HOW TO READ! I just ordered the version 2.1 bt module found on ebay. MY QUESTION: I see in another post that someone was able to install it without completely disaasembling the 1410. HAS ANYONE ELSE DONE THIS? Really don't want to do surgery on my new toy...

Well you are supposed to open it up completely just to be able to move around freely.

If you decide not to open it up -which means taking out the keyboard all the screws and bits- you should just remove the screws on the bottom of the laptop, next to the two toggles. Then if you got a thin hand you should be able to fix the module in place.

But still, i wouldn`t do it if i were you, sounds just so messy!

I want bt because I tether to my cell phone for internet on my train ride to work, just interested in hearing how others have installed the module. I am currently tethered at this moment via a usb cable.
