anyone notice a slight 3-5 second lag when loading websites? It doesn't happen all the time but it sometimes hangs with nothing happening. Trackpad won't work, cursor doesn't move, keyboard is frozen for 3-5 seconds. Anyone experience this from time to time?

Note: I have 4gb of ram so that is definitely not the issue here.

Have you downloaded the latest Realtek HD drivers and then played with the settings? That will make the volume much louder.

Hi guys, I just got my Acer 1810T. How do I go about reformatting so that I have a fresh drive without the extra software? PS I have no experience with a notebook without a CD drive and Windows 7.

I tried search/ing through the threads, but haven't found anything.

    Thanks

Nevermind i think i found the thread

I buy the Acer Aspire 1080TZ model.. I have upgradede to an SSD Intel X25-M 80GB Postville version 34nm and I have replace the memory to 4GB of DDR2 800Mhz (2x2GB) Kingston HyperX KIT PC6400 (5-5-5-15).. I will get the new Acer on monday! I am wondering how it will be in performance.

What you think about my hardware in this Acer.. somebody has experience?
I also can play FIFA 10 and Pro Evolution Scorrer and Red Alert 3 or Red Faction Gurilla? I think HD movie's is no problem for the Acer..

I am looking for a 9 Cells or 12 Cells battery, but I can not find it.. There will be a 6 Cells 5600mAh deliver with this..

I pay for the Acer € 943,- euro

    hey there,
It seems that that thread is locked, but I really wanted to elaborate on this codec issue.
I can confirm that I can play 720p movies at about 20% CPU load (SU4100) with Windows 7 and WMP 12 with the latest stable Intel drivers, but I wondered if this performance will be screwed if I install Shark007 codec pack.

Anyone tried and could still use GS45 hardware acceleration with WMP12 after installing the pack? Thanks

Follow the bible here. The killer 1080P Planet Earth sample works fantastic on our timeline. Just using MPC-HC's built in codecs and Haali. I'd stay away from the packs.

P.S. Upgrading to the latest 1986 Intel video driver helped a lot as well.

Thanks! But this thread's first post seems to indicate that 1986 drivers are buggy. Is it still true, or the issues have been solved?

    Thanks!

As I said, I'm using 1986 and it helped a lot. If there's bugs I'm not running into them. Your call...

i noticed 1986 driver is buggy: in the Power Options, the DPST/power saving options (horizontal bar) is always "reset".

i have to manually go there and enable it.

Thanks for the feedback. DXVA works fine with MPC-HC and 1892 drivers, so I guess I'll stick with them until Intel releases a new version.
cybpsych> I've read somewhere that this is a Windows bug after resuming for a sleeping state, did it happen with older Intel drivers as well?

I'm also facing another problem. When I switch to another window with ALT+TAB, I have to wait one or two seconds for the pointer to become 'alive' just after landing on the new window. It's really annoying because I always have to repeat any action on the touchpad. Did someone experience that as well? What's the workaround? Is it a touchpad driver problem or video problem?

    Thanks :)

What are the other rumored 1986 video driver bugs? I haven't encountered any yet. I tried searching but the search function on this forum doesn't seem to work very well or at all.

For me, the "Display Power Saving Technology" stays enabled. I think I'm misunderstanding this.

    edit:
Okay, I moved the slider bar and restarted. The slider moved back to its original position. I wonder how much of a difference this thing makes in terms of performance and battery life.

Okay, I do have the feeling when Intel have to do some acceleration on the graphics it's getting to much and BSOD.

Could it also to do with my intel media accelerator settings cause they are on ernergy settings instead of performance, and if i play with these settings my notebook just freeze or bsod

Maybe you got a problem with your RAM sticks. Run a Memtest just to be sure.
Did you installed Intel's latest 1986 drivers?

wow.. just started and like on 1% i already have 11 errors so I need to check them separately cause i know for sure 1 ram slot is working correctly.

So it also could be possible that 1 ram slot is broken ?

Whow that's weird. Yeah it can indicate a malfunction of a RAM slot, but also some compatibility problems with the BIOS, although I saw that you flashed it with the latest version.
Maybe you could ask feedback from some users in the general thread who bought the same RAM kit?

I did the speaker trick on my 1810T. It Really worked.

Just for that, I'm glad I joined!!!
Hope you can help me with other stuff too. A great site.

this is just a joke 1 of my ram slot doesn't work on all 3 memory units it failed (including the original Acer gave me) and even on 1 i could not get into windows, bluescreen all the time. Really frustrated does this apply on Acer warranty i have receive this at Christmas eve, so i might charge my retailer for not delivering a good product and want a new one instead of getting repaired or dealing with their customer services

This forum is great! I love my Acer 1410 (SU3500) and the advice on this thread has really helped improve the performance.

To date, I've updated to Window 7 x64 (from Vista), updated BIOS (3303), loaded the 1986 Intel driver, and installed most drivers from the Acer page.

Everything seems to be working great except video playback...
WMP12 - AVCHD video from HD camcorder is choppy. Also, can't play Planet Earth mkv file.
MPC-HC - AVCHD files flash green during playback. I tweaked the settings and was able to play the Planet Earth mkv video smoothly.
Splash - Didn't work well, but I didn't play with the settings much.

The HD Video link from the first page seems to imply WMP12 plays files fine/smooth. Is there more to it than that? I'm wondering if I need to convert my AVCHD files to another format in order to play them smoothly.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

    Hey,

Is it normal to have a 5.2% wear on a new 1810tz? I plugged it in as soon as i got it and unplugged it when the fully charged light came on, which was like 5 minutes later. I didnt think to check and see if it was reading a 100% charged at that point.

To decipher his statement a little. You're going to remove the ~7 screws on the bottom of the keyboard that are around the palm rest area. You'll want tweezers or a small screw driver to push in the tiny connection. This connection will be the white connector just to the right of the right track pad buttom. Then you will pull off the little white strip which will be sitting in the area where you'll put the actual BT module. From there you just place the BT module and make sure it is seated correctly. Then make sure the wire is out of the way of the track pad button and close up the case. The pics should give you an idea (of note Pic 1 shows the memory and hd covers off which isn't necessary for the BT module sneak in procedure).

Check Bios by hitting F2 during start-up. It is listed on the information screen (first screen).
To upgrade BIOS, download the new BIOS from the Acer support site and run the exe as administrator. The Acer site says upgrade at your own risk.
Can't help you on the bloatware. I did a fresh install of Win7 and only reinstalled Acer Crystal Eye Webcam and Launch Manager. I tried to load the eRecovery software too, but can't seem to complete the installation.

I can play the Planet Earthmkv file smoothly with my 1410/SU2300.

Have you tried the recommendations from the original post?

What worked for me was the Media Player Classic, Haali Splitter, and PowerDVD combo. But I had no audio until I installed ffdshow.

My only issue is the lack of subtitles for foreign movies with srt file. But I got around that by using VLC player (I can play up to 720p okay).

Anyone else getting noticeable screen flicker on battery mode (power saver)? I think it's that level of the lcd where you can see it the most, but it flickers even plugged in, a little, and is more noticeable on the dimmer lcd settings. I've updated my bios to the most recent and have the most recent intel video drivers.

Hey guys was hoping someone could help me with an issue as I saw others have upgraded to Ultimate.

I just got this laptop tonight and upgraded to Ultimate without making recovery disks (figured since there is a recovery partition there's no need for me to buy an external drive just to make disks).

    Here are my questions:

    1) Ever since I upgraded Windows 7 to Ultimate I spent hours trying to find the right drivers to install, I finally got the FN keys to work with launch pad but they lag now, they didn't lag when I had the Home edition. Anyone know why this could be? For example I'd hit the mute button and the mute icon won't pop up for several seconds on my screen, this happened on my Sony Vaio as well when I updated operating systems.

    2) The battery modes, before I would hit power save and it would turn aero off, now it just makes the screen less dim, I think this is affecting battery life because when I was on home it said I had over 9 hours left, realistically I got about 6 hours after I put on Ultimate.

thanks in advance for the responses.

i have a question about the intel graphic driver update. when you guys updated the driver is the driver really becoming v15? cus i did the mod of inf file, also tried to uninstall and reinstall with intels driver. and the only change i get is that driver version is only changing the last four digit:

    installing v15.15.6.64.1892
    getting 8.15.10.1892

    strange??

Does the webcam suppose to use microsft drivers? How does it show up in device manager? I have a couple of options disabled in the Acer crystal eye software. I am not sure if it installed correctly. The webcam in my opinion looks very bad and is useless. I did remove the plastic covering the lens.

well... finally got my replacement 1410. This one has a nasty sound coming from the fan that the previous one did not. I suspect this is the fan rattle some (inc. lepton on 1st page) are referring to.

I really wanna like this notebook as it's a fantastic price and great processor...

My webcam also is using MS drivers - I've ask the question here before too - no one replies.. my quality is fine,so not sure about what you are seeing on yours.

I'd like to see some other driver also -but the software only installs the Aver Crystal Eye software, not the driver - so I assume no update there.

    Noob question here:

In the link to "chipset and drivers" in the OP, do I install all the drivers from that intel page or is do I need a specific one for my model?
