How do I know whether or not I have the latest version of the 1810 Tray software? Sorry to ask what should be a basic question. Thanks Chuck

Hmm.. I installed the Broadcom Bluetooth Module that I purchased off Ebay for $19.99 and whenever I enable the switch I get "USB Device not Recognized"
Drivers aren't helping.
Hmm, the picture showed Broadcom, but it is not really a Broadcom unit.
I've checked both ends of the cable, they seem to only go in one way and are seated properly. I removed the device completely from device manager and tried to re-enable, no luck. Can't install the Win7 x64 drivers, says no bluetooth device found. -
Unless something went wrong in mounting it - e.g., the connector plugged in reversed or sth like that, i'd think it is malfunctioning.
Edit: added some images of module placement
Edit edit: am using Acer's pre-installed OEM Win7 Home Premium 64bit with the drivers that came with it, updated the chipset driver though.Attached Files:

Just to let everyone know, Win7 auto updated to the 4 series display express chipset family software released in December, 2009. After this was done, I noticed my intel graphics icon was changed in my taskbar. More importantly, I noticed when hooking my 1410 via HDMI to my flat screen, the colors were all washed out, mostly pink and red. Looked like the tint was off with 256 colors. Uninstalled my graphics driver and installed the the .1883 driver for x64 dated 09/08/2009 on the first page of this thread, and it seems to have corrected the issue. Also, it looks like the link no longer works, so I had to do a bit of searching to find the correct version.

In the old driver, gamma couldn't be set below 1.0, with the new one it can.
On my machine, I was happy with this additional range because it allows one to make the colors look actually less washed out by setting gamma to 0.7/0.8. It can be found in Display -> Color Enhancement, when setting graphics properties with the new driver.
Then again, i'm talking about my experiences here and you may have encountered different effects...
Edit: and with the new driver you can change color settings etc. for each screen individually, so your external screen can have e.g. different gamma than your notebook LCD -
Thanks! -

OK, I just placed an order [CC not debited yet though] for an 1810T-8638.
I had trouble finding someone who would even take the order, but I placed an order with P**van**** and apparently there is an indeterminate wait period, since they had to place the order with the manufacturer.....really?
I can't believe Acer keeps such minimal inventory available for these models that the merchant cannot give an estimate of delivery.....really?
It's not like they're building a custom-optioned Porsche, or is it?
Wow...I guess the industry production methods are not what I would expect, if they build them as they're ordered.
Oh well, I guess good things come to those who wait...for an indeterminate length of time. -
I tried to find it yesterday but I was only able of finding 2021. How do you got this link?
This driver have solved the corrupted screen issue when sleeping on battery and resuming on AC, at least on my side. Also seems that the DVI switch is faster. -

If it solves the corrupted screen is great.. but I think it's only for desktop version...

Need help with screen resolution on 1410 w/SU2300
Display resolution is set to 1366X768. Have 2 browsers on system; Firefox and IE Explorer.
In Firefox display shows 1366X768. In IE Explorer the display shows larger characters and I have to page right to see the full screen. Is something wrong in my settings? What do I need to change to make both browsers display tha smaller 1366X768 resolution?
Thanks for your help. Chuck
Forgot to mention I am running Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit. -

Hello where can I download the drivers from the monitor?
AU Optronics B116XW02 V.0 -
I would like to update to the latest BIOS (3303) but am uncertain as to how to do so.
I have a 1410 w/SU2300 running 64 bit Win 7 Home Premium. My unit was shipped to me with an older BIOS (3105).
Can someone point me to the instructions (or provide them) for how to update the BIOS without crashing and burning? Thanks in advance for your help. Chuck -
Check the Acer website first and see what is available for your system and we will go from there k?

I take it ALL of you are still having problems w/ even the latest Dec 2026 Intel 4500MHD (series 4) drivers gfx corruption whereby you resume from S4 (hibernation) and are on A/C power? I'm shocked that this problem is still prevalent. I can't imagine that a multitude of folks didn't report it.
Anyway, I don't know if there are any DXVA acceleration enhancements between revisions from Sept to Dec, but which would any of you recommending going w/ to escape this now venerable problem? I know 1986 are buggy. What about 1892, 1883, or 1872? Am I losing anything by escaping this problem? Cheers. -

BIOS 3303 is the most current for the 1410. I couldn't find any info on how to update the old BIOS with the new one on the Acer website. I also searched the forum but couldn't find anything specific there. -
Ok... Have you tried just downloading the bios file and double clicking on it as it is an executable?

I did a search and couldn't find anything about remapping the left-\ key so I thought I'd post it here.
I never use the CapsLock key, and with the Acer 1810T keyboard, I'm always hitting left-\ when I'm really trying to press L-Shift.
I put together a quick autohotkey fix for this problem. I'm assuming (perhaps erronously?) that all Acer1810T keys have the same scan codes. This script also maintains the original functionality of the right-\ near the Enter key. This is what's in the autohotkey script:
Code:^Capslock::Capslock Capslock::Shift SC056::Shift
Hope it helps.Attached Files:

I have downloaded the latest BIOS but have not doubleclicked on it. It was at that point I thought I should ask what to do next. I will doubleclick and see what happens. wish me luck. Thanks Chuck -

reboot the computer and pres F2 at the boot screen to look at the bios settings. It should show you the version in there.

Does anyone know where I can find a set of detailed instructions on how to update the BIOS on my 1410/ I have tried to update the BIOS unsuccessfully. Must be something I am not doing or am doing wrong.
I have searched the Acer site and this forum but haven't been able to find instructions. I hate to keep bothering everyone with questions about this operation.
Thanks Chuck -

Other standalone software, like KeyTweak, is also available

autohotkey is fine but that will add another (unnecessary) background process. -

Tested 2086 and the bug is fixed...finally
No problem when putting the laptop to sleep on battery then wakeup on AC
AS1410+Win7 32bit. -
Wondering if anyone can suggest a 4GB 2x 2GB Ram upgrade for the 1410? Thanks

cool. looking forward to x64 rls. for now, 1892 solves the problem for me.

I just bought an SU2300 1410 in Japan, build date 11/29/2009. It came with a 250GB Seagate Momentus 5400.4 and 1x2GB RAM. The computer is up and running under Windows 7 (64-bit), and I'm pretty happy with it overall so I haven't tried updating the BIOS or anything yet. I tried to run through the battery once last night on the balanced setting and with the screen turned down a bit. I started at about 8:00 and gave up at 2 in the morning with the battery still showing 13%. Six hours from iTunes, web browsing, and OpenOffice is more than enough for me. The screen seems too blue, but I'm confident I can get that worked out today.
There are only two things that are bothering me so far:
1) I tried to install the Flash Player 10.1 beta 3, and no videos will run on it. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, and also rebooted after installing again, but nothing seems to help. Am I stuck on 10.0 for now?
2) The blue light above the keyboard that shows when the hard drive is spinning really bothers me. Is there some setting or hack to turn it off? -
To me the HDD activity light sounds like the perfect excuse to treat yourself to a solid state drive so it doesn't flash anymore.
-
you'll find the 64-bit version -
I get newest drivers from here. Some are unofficial, but I did not have any problems so far.
-
But if you don't ever want to see it flashing, a simple solution is a black magic marker or a thin strip of black tape (or whatever color). -
Hello!
As you see, I'm a newbie here (and with portable computers in general), so pardon my stupidity.
So... Today I bought this (Acer 1410) decent notebook because of the good words in this forums. And I already have a problem...
I installed Win7 Pro x86, most of the drivers were ok but problems started with WiFi driver. I tried different versions and at last I found that Intel's diagnostic tool. Now I have 'Intel WiFi link 1000 BGN'. I was thinking - everything will be ok with wireless now, but it wasn't.
With 1410 I also bought Wifi router. I plugged my cable in it, it showed 3 lights ('SYS'', 'WAN', and '1'). When I plug cable in my laptop (through router), internet works. If I try it without cable via wireless, I can't find any networks.
Is the problem in drivers or in my router (I suppose this)? Could you please give me some schemes/instructions how to make that router working?
Thanks already -
delete, delete, I eat meat!
