Still, the sticker is not the complete license, at least according to MS

I have this machine above. I have been tracking this thread and haven't seen the initial post updated and wanted to see what people were using for current drivers for the following items. I have heard of some folks using different model numbers on the Acer site to install updated drivers, but I haven't seen anything definitive on this nor have I seen any pros/cons threads.
If anyone has anything newer/better/stronger/faster, I would appreciate the advice. If anyone needs more info from me, please let me know. Also, I just updated the BIOS to the new 3.314.
Thanks in advance.
Currently using the following:
Webcam - Suyin Optronics v 5.2.7.1
Acer ePower Mgmt - v 4.05.3004
Atheros Ethernet - v 1.0.0.5
Intel Graphics - v 8.15.10.2104
Launch Manager - v 3.0.02
Realtek - v 6.0.1.5942
Synaptics - v 14.0.3.0
Wifi - Intel WiFi Link 1000 BGN Driver Version 13.1.1.1 dated 1/13/10 -
I have a 1810TZ and I use LaunchManager 3.0.10.You can download it from Acer1820PT or 1820PTZ.I am very happy with it.Also I use graphics drivers Intel 8.15.10.2182.I got them from the Intel site.As far as I know they are the latest and they work very good.
-
Removed, since only a useless piece of software. Webcam runs with Windows default drivers.
Uninstalled. Useless.
1.0.0.35 from Atheros Website
8.15.10.2202 from Intel website
3.0.06 - from the preinstallation
6.0.1.6167 from Realtek website
14.0.6.0 from Acer for their 1820 series
13.2.1.5 (31-May-2010) from Intel website

How is it useless? Do you understand what a driver is? It is a piece of code that tells the OS how to interact with a piece of hardware. The OS can look at the webcam and realize that it looks like a kind of hardware that it knows how to deal with and make it work. However, the driver that is actually written for the specific hardware might know for instance to alter the black levels or refresh the CMOS sensor at a certain rate that is known to optimize it. Just because it "works" doesn't mean that is the best way to do it. The laptop will "work" with stock windows graphics drivers. I don't see anybody here recommending that.
-
Ηow do you turn on the camera?Do you have User Interface? Can you take pictures and Video with the camera?
-
Go to device manager and check who issued the driver for your webcam.
If it's been issued by Microsoft on 21-06-2006-you are running default Windows driver and the pack on Acer website is just an app. If however you are running a different driver signed by Suyin you should probably stick with it.
Almost all Acer notebooks on sale today use Windows default driver- I've been able to locate Win 7 64 bit and compare it to Windows default driver (on a chicony camera)- there was no difference. -
Of course, I know. I am even able to determine if a device is using manufacturer drivers or the standard drivers that are part of the operating system.
*LOL* At least the Suyin webcam is using MS default drivers from factory.
By using an application that interfaces with video capture devices. Messenger, Mediaplayer Classic, just to name a few of them. What user interface? The Suyin software didn't allow adjusting any settings. Perhaps since I am used to use my computer without admin permissions. So this just underlines my statement about its uselessness.
If I want, I can do that. But do I want noisy 640x480 pictures? No.

The driver I am running has no relevance to what I said. I was talking about the fact that just because something runs on the Windows driver doesn't mean there is no reason to seek out the better, proper one. If one isn't available, so be it, your job is done. But saying that it works with windows drivers and stopping right there is what I am saying is wrong and not good practice.
If the camera does not have manufacturer driver available, that's one thing. Saying that something runs with default drivers and that's that is quite another. -
Updatet the Realtek HD Audio driver to 6.0.1.6194
Should I update the HDMI driver as well and where could I obtain it?
Shows as V. 6.10.1.2089, by Intel, by the way.
Was not able to locate any on the Intel site though. -
The HDMI driver comes with the VGA drivers, IIRC.
Michael -
that is the Intel chipset+graphics driver, or should I look for a seperate VGA driver?
S. -
There is a separate VGA driver(VGA_Intel_v8.15.10.1855_Win7x64.zip).Get it from Acer support:
Acer Support - Drivers & Support Documents -
Thanks.
Checked my VGA driver, turns out to be v. 8.15.10.2202, dated 25/8/10.
Can't recall, where I got that one from, though.
Possibly automatically via windows update, although WU provides outdated drivers in most cases.
S. -
Reduce energieconsumption by switching off the HD audio controller.
(I do that via 1810tray, very convenient.)
In my case that makes a difference of 0.4 - 0.5 W.
WLAN only 0.1 W , to compare. -
see below...
-
-what's the advantage of the 1820 synaptics drivers over the original version from the website? Do you know that?
-do you know anything about chipset drivers? I only get VGA drivers when I check at intel.com...
My addition would be:
+Cardreader_Alcor 1.2.17.05001 although in the device manager it's version 1.0.12.50 after installing it.
+not installing the HD Sound driver as it consumes a lot of cpu power + energy (see the first page of this thread). -
1. it's both more a software kind of thing. For the feeling of having done everything to improve the system
the webcam driveres don't change, you only have an app where you can check the picture and adjust it somehow.
For the CR there actually is a driver installed and also a software that allows you to see a symbol of the inserted card type in the explorer (which is nice).
PS: you may look in the german acer forum (google), I sold mine there for 60. -
The higher version number.
You shall not select your precise Windows version (like Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit) but only the Windows family (like "Windows 7" or "Windows 7, 64 bit")
There is also the "Rapid Storage" driver which is the successor of the Matrix Storage Manager. And the
INF Update Utility
Well, the package has been updated, but the driver remained the same. I even have a version 1.3.something lying around on my HDD.
You are referring to this ancient post: http://forum.notebookreview.com/5287567-post1807.html
Have you verified, if this is still true with Win7 64 (instead of Vista) and more recent Realtek Audio drivers (Realtek seems to be releasing driver updates monthly)? Especially if there is more CPU load during audio playback compared to e.g. Windows built-in standard driver?

BatteryBar Pro On Sale Now! Choose Your Own Price. Pay any price from $1 to $10 to get a lifetime BatteryBar Pro license! -
thanks, I finally found it. But: it doesn't install any new drivers apart from the IDE controller - which is also installed through the Rapid Store driver. So probably the Microsoft drivers are enough.
well, I remember that when I had them installed after I did a first clean install on Win7 64 I had some high CPU-Utilization problems. When I remember correctly it was resolved by deinstalling the drivers, but I'm not completely sure. But as they don't offer a real worth for me over the microsoft drivers (using an external sound card most of the time anyway), I think I stay on the safe side not having them installed
-
What did you expect? The Inf installer does what its name tells you: It installs a couple of .inf files, so Windows show and support the hardware correctly. W7 is new enough to support that chipset out-of-the box.
Aha. Perhaps you were using some fossile software like the user who posted that "tip" here. Concerning CPU load (and thus power consumption), the generic Windows driver has no advantage over Realtek's drivers. Of course, I am talking about recent versions.
I tested this: listening to a web radio using Mediaplayer Classic. With both drivers, MS generic and Realtek, the CPU load was about 2%.
Which does not justify a general recommendation at all.
Michael -
I got a batterybar Pro lifetime licence for $2
-
Got it for 0.1$
...but that's was the last time it was on sale, and you had the opportunity to pay whatever you wanted
-
yes, that's what I wanted to point out
no need for updating chipset drivers.
-
I know this has probably been asked a bunch of times but does anyone have experience with the 9 cell 7200mah batterys seen ebay for about $45. I used to be able to get 4-5hours out of my Aspire 1410 but since i've switched to linux the battery only last ~2 hours and runs alot hotter.
-
Dunno if this has been discussed before. But i noticed the high pitch sound (background noise) issue on my 1810tz and the above post solved my problem in ac mode. Has anyone else found alternative solution for this problem. Or solution in battery mode? The sound is really annoying

has anyone else encountered problems going to standby-mode? sometimes the display blacks out, windows doesn't react but the laptop is still on and can only be turned off by hard shutdown.
-
This is most likely due to some driver of peripheral devices.
I normally have no troubles with waking up from standby or hibernation.
Only exception: if I have my Terrortec TV stick inserted, then the laptop doesn't resume from standby (resuming from hibernation works).
Michael -
hey,
thanks for the hint. In fact, I have a Terratec TV stick connected as well, so probably it's due to this device whenever standby isn't working. I'll keep track of it and tell you if I can confirm that. Maybe we find a solution for you as well then. -
At least my own device (Cinergy T USB XE Rev.2) is too old to get any newer drivers.
I must be happy if the device doesn't crash my system

I have a question. My sister has an Acer Aspire One D250-1955 with Bluetooth in it. I have an Acer Aspire 1410 SU2300 with no Bluetooth. Would it be possible to rip the Bluetooth out of her netbook, and install it in mine? She never uses Bluetooth anyways, so I figured it would be more budget-friendly if I took hers than bought one, haha.
-
Hi,
there are several types of connectors. So you need to check if these are the same on the AO and your 1410. Additional I am not sure if the absence or presence of the BT hardware switch does matter or not since the same function is also triggered by Fn-F3.
Michael -
Hmmm, well I know that both of our netbooks have the physical switch on them, so that won't be a problem... I guess there's only one way to find out if the Bluetooth will work in my computer, haha.

Guys do you know if there is a way to make dolby digital live 5.1 or dts connect with 1810t? With movies with aac5.1 I can't have multihannel output via spdif on the amplifier, since it support only dd5.1 and dts. I was looking a way to transcode on the fly an aac audio to dd or dts while watching the movie.
One solution is dolbydigiatl live or dts connect encoding. Do you kow a way to make it work with 1810t? Or do you know any other way to have an on the fly transcoding? -
Not sure if service manuals are not allowed here, but anyway, you can find one by searching "aspire 1810t 1410.pdf" in Google. There're lots of other service manuals on that site.
The manual is extremely helpful, lots of photos and many issues are covered, from part numbers, disassembly guide to trouble shooting, BIOS recovery etc.. -
What version of the video driver are you guys using?
Mine is 8.15.2202.
I'm hoping for a much smoother 1080p playback with the Intel graphics especially with HDMI output. -
Thanks for that link lucida.

Hello everyone.
I've had the 1810TZ for about 7 months now, bought it here in the UK for £420 (which was a good price at the time).
It's the SU4100 1.3GHz which I've software undervolted to 0.9v using ThrottleStop from following guides on here. I've made various subtle tweaks and upgrades to the laptop, such as increasing to 4GB OCZ RAM, and replacing the HDD with 500GB Hitachi 7200RPM (HUGE speed boost!).
Anyhow, the problem I'm having after using this laptop almost every day on battery, is that my battery seems worn now. Instead of getting the 6-8 hours of life I used to, I seem only to get 4 or 5 hours (battery wear level changes from 15 - 21% so I guess it's time for a new one).
I'm having trouble sourcing a new battery for it, though, and looking on here loads of yall have upgraded to bigger batteries and what not. Where did you get them from?
I can find many 5600mAH 11.1v batteries, BUT my current battery is 10.8v 5800mAH.
Would I be safe to purchase an 11.1v battery for this model, or do I need the specific 10.8v? Where is the best place to purchase?
Many thanks in advance! -
Hi,
my own 1810TZ came with a 11.1V, 5600mAh battery also, so that shouldn't be a problem for you.
Most reliable source (for UK): Acer Online Store - Battery for Aspire and Ferrari One 200: 6 cells / 5600mAh / Black

i did Erecovery to my 1810tz, after the erecovery my bluetooth does not function well. I manage to export files via bluetooth from 1810tz but unable to import file into my 1810tz via bluetooth. It just no response on my 1810tz when i tried to transfer a file from other devices. Can anyone help?
-
Hi,
so your hardware is working. Are you able to send some stuff from your mobile (or whatever device you are using) to your computer?
These files are then normally located in "My Documents\Bluetooth Exchange Folder" or similar, depending on the language.
