    Hi
    Thanks for your great job!
I was about to return my 1810TZ to the shop, when I found your soft to get rid of the fan noise....
I found a way to make 1810Tray launch at windows startup with UAC enabled. I use W7 premium 64 bits
You have to create a scheduled task to launch at "opening of user session" NOT at "system startup" (not 100% sure about the spelling, I use French W7)
Tell me if it worked for you

    Francis

There you go, a couple of $ just to keep you motivated!!!

I know its not that much and your little software should be sold to Acer to improve their machines, but what the hell :)))

Keep up the good work :)

EDIT: Did you change the way the prog gets the Temperature readings? I cant really tell right now, since im sitting in the cold trying to have a smoke with my coffee, and my temp is 29 degrees :)

I also got one error, when i was trying to change some settings, maybe you should give it another look. It happened when i forced many clicks on the program because it wouldn`t show me the menu.

    thx for donations !!! :D

    @mogolfiero
yepp, i read the temp directly from cpu via MSR like coretemp it does.
AcerEC tempreading to unreliable , sometimes 0°C sometimes over 100°C
that was annoying because fan speed up for short time
now its more reliable and smooth

uploaded version 19 i hope this fix this prob

yes it changed from mousedown -> left or right click to
contextmenu -> only right click. this was needed to fix the bug that menue stays open when it losts the focus

2 seconds ??? it shouldnd takes longer than befor ... it more likely that its open faster. on my 1810 its open instandly.

i.e. the devicestate is checked after the menue is allready displayed (take a look at the submenue arrow of the devices sub)

    ;)

    btw.
the energy profiles are only samples. i removed the option of the powersheme switch because if you have a gaming profile that switch to highpower you dont need a second menuentry that does the same

yeah, it definitely takes 2 seconds to open up on my 1410... didnt do that in the previous versions... i restarted the computer and everything to check that...

but, i can wait 2 seconds, because otherwise it works great... i'll try to donate a little amount that i can this weekend. thanks

    About the temperature readings.

With the older versions i was around 47-50 on idle, while surfing etc, and i would see 56+ while doing heavy stuff.
Now i get around 40 on idle. Haven`t tested hard duty yet. Is this ok? Im worried it might actually get very hot and i wont notice it :)

I installed this, I was like ok, my CPU is only 31C. After like 20-30mins, my laptop turns off. I was like whats going on? Apparently the fan never turned on and my unit overheated and turned itself off. I turn it back on, and the program is reading 71C for the CPU for the past 20mins. I hope I didn't do any permanent damage to my netbook.

EDIT: Anyone have the older version from like 1~2 weeks ago? I should've saved the older application. The new one kinda scares me. The newer version doesn't seem to read the temperature correctly, it seem fixated at one value, which probably is the reason why my system may have overheated.

does it feel hot? maybe you should uninstall and reinstall and see if it gets back to normal...

wouldn't the computer shut off before it got too hot to do damage anyway? regardless of whether your fan goes on or not?

i have versions 16-19 compressed zip folders still on my computer, i really hope inteks doesnt mind me attaching it for you, version 17

    @LancerEvoX
that was my first idea too. It should be clear that the temperature cant stay at 31 ° C for 30min if you use your notebook . . .

i can test this tool only on my one 1810t !!! i bit of computer knowledge on your side is mandatory. if you want to use this prog

@ALL -> pls dont leave your rig alone with heavy work and with 1810tray running if you doesnt tested it for a few days !!!!!

    Hi Francis,

I'm also trying to use this great piece of SW, and so far I managed to launch it through the task scheduler :) However, I doubt that my devices are correctly switched off according to the profile I saved

It seems that we have the same configuration (1810TZ with W7 Premium 64... and you may be as french as me :p ) Would you mind telling me if everything runs fine on your side, and if you had to fine-tune some IDs of devices?

I am particularly interested to deactivate LAN & Webcam, and despite having updated their IDs, the "Devices" sub-menu always show a tick in front of these 2 devices

Thank you =] I'm pretty sure the computer turns off before any real damage is done.

Understood, one thing I thought was since my computer was idling, 30C seemed normal for the CPU. Do you think bios version difference might be why the tool isn't reading the right temperature? (Version 17 works wonderfully on my 1410).

Mine does feel hot too, even when it says that its running at 40. I downloaded Coretemp to see what the prog says and it is giving me the same values as the 1810tray.

Coretemp doesn't accurately read the temperature values for me at least. I ran ahead and ran a movie and the CPU usage went up to 30% for a few minutes. The temperature reading on that stay locked (happens with HWMonitor, Everest, etc). I went back to 1810tray version 17 and thats the only thing thats correctly reading the temperature.

thats interesting... we have the same model it looks like, i wonder what the difference is... what bios are you on? have you changed anything from stock hardware? i wonder why your temp stays locked even for different monitoring software

Look like it was a bios issue. I went to 3117 and the stuff started working correctly. I already went aheand and went to 3303. Thanks =]

EDIT: Here's some interesting stuff. After upgrading to 3303, v17 and v19 of 1810tray shows that my temperature never goes below 47-48 even while idling. On the older 3115, v17 shows the system idling around 40. There's also like a 5C difference in readings between HWMonitor/SWI/Everest and 1810Tray and RMclock.

I noticed this "fixed" temp issue with other apps, like CPUID. Try using 1810Tray in "native" mode, run a processor-intensive app and listen closely to your fan speed, which should jump up a notch or two. At the same time, keep an eye on the 1810Tray temp.

If the fan speed changes but the temp doesn't, then the newer version of 1810Tray is suffering from the same problem as CPUID... .

@Bouboune: The x64 is for 64Bit OS. The x82 is for 32Bit OS. You should use the x64 one with your 64Bit OS.

@Inteks: Very good program, something like an update checker would be nice. My donation will reach you at christmas :)

After bios reflash to 3303, I can't say if temp is different but it is moving much faster than before...looks like my old bios was causing a temp reading issue for 1810tray?

    2 links for reading about devcon . . .

    http://en.kioskea.net/faq/sujet-1886-enable-disable-a-device-from-the-command-line
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q311272

    1810tray make use of

    devcon enable "insertdeviceidhere"
    and
    devcon disable "insertdeviceidhere"

    /inteks

ps: the 1810/1410 models use some diffrent hardware i.e. webcam lan wifi and bluetooth.
the components of 1810t with su3500 are allready included in 1810tray maybe some other users can post there working deviceids . . . ;)

btw. if you like to backup/save/share your settings/profiles/deviceids you can export/import the following regkey with regedit
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Inteks\1810tray

    Inteks,
like I mentioned before, devcon's not running properly on my system. I wrote that running devcon in a DOS box pops up a second window which is the closed like 0.05s later, making it impossible to read...

thanks to the "find *" parm I managed to pause the 2nd DOS box* before it disappears and it seems to work ok (i.e., lists devices' id & description).

*Actually, it's not a DOS Box, you can't cut&paste from it and it has the name of Windows Setup API...

Question, what OS do you have? I'm using W7 x64... and I read this from the link you supplied:
"You can use Devcon with Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003."

Are you sure it will work on a W7 and/or x64 OS right out of the box?

    Thx :)

This is precisely what I was thinking about, because actually there are 2 devcon libraries: one for 32-bit and one for 64-bit. It may explain why we can't switch off the devices of our W7 64-bit

OK, I have downloaded the devcon package from Microsoft, and replaced the devcon file in 1810tray folder by the 64-bit version.

Result: crash... I get a .NET framework error message, "unexpected exception in your application... unknown error (0xd8)" -> doesn't look like the solution...

Hopefully when I put the original devcon file back in place, 1810tray works again... ouch...

    This is probably the reason:

"Die Version von C:\Windows\system32\devcon.exe ist nicht mit der ausgeführten Windows-Version kompatibel. Öffnen Sie die Systeminformationen des Computers, um zu überprüfen, ob eine x86-(32 Bit)- oder eine x64-(64 Bit)-Version des Programms erforderlich ist, und wenden Sie sich anschließend an den Herausgeber der Software."

What the above essentially means that the Windows Command runs in 32-bit mode and you can't run the 64-bit version directly from that environment. Maybe it's the same type of problem with Intek's app...

    Sigh... this is odd.

is it possible that 1810tray runs as x86 application in a WOW64 emu?
and you cant run a 64bit appl out off and 32bit environment.

i thought framework apps run on x86 as 32bit and on x64 in x64 mode

    /inteks

edit: maybe i can do something for x64 users. i dont use "noshellexecute" option to run devcon to hide the dosbox.

maybe it works if dosbox is used ;) BUT then you has a dosbox poped up everytime devcon is call.....

    i build a testversion for x64 only.

edit2: here is a x64 build of 1810tray pls report back!!!

Hey, thanks again for the great effort, it's much appreciated

Unfortunately, it didn't make any difference. I tried it with the 32bit ver of devcon (= no chg) and 64-bit (=.Net error).

Oddly enough, our 64bit systems will only run 32bit devcon. No, I think the problem lies with devcon & 64bit systems (or W7 systems... you never did say what OS you have...).

Btw, as a few already noted, your newer versions do not report the proper temp on the 1810TZ. Don't feel bad, neither does CPUID HW Monitor... :-/ So I have no idea what reference you were using in the older vers (like ver 16 which is what I use) but it reported correct temps. Or at least temps that would change with the presence or absence of cpu load... ;)

Fwiw, my Winbond chip is WPCE775LA0DG

i build a x64 exe of 1810tray you should test it with the x64 version of devcon you can get on microsoft website.

btw. old version of 1810tray read temp AcerEC chip
the new version read it directly from the CPU internal diode via MSR and should be correct. maybe you have to correct the tjmax value. the SU3500 has 105°C

    its calcutated:
    TjMax-readedValue = actualCPUTemp

I did. read above post (.NET error). devcon x64 DOES NOT RUN PERIOD. :)

...and the SU4100 has 100C. So now instead of the temp being "stuck" at 30C, it's stuck at 25C. :p

    SAME AS CPUID's HW Monitor (25C) :)

EDIT: Ok, you have to run cmd.exe as Administrator then devcon works in the original cmd window... I don't understand all this UAC bs... :( So here it is (very informative...):

    C:\Windows\system32>devcon disable "USB\VID_0A5C&PID_2151"
    USB\VID_0A5C&PID_2151\0C6076B38193 : Disable failed
    No devices disabled.

Using the "find" parm, I found this:
    C:\Windows\system32>devcon find "USB\VID_0A5C*
    USB\VID_0A5C&PID_2151\0C6076B38193 : BCM2046 Bluetooth
    Module
    1 matching device(s) found.

So it's there, alright... just can't disable it... argh.

The above cmd.exe resides in \system32. There are also two more, one in \winsxs\amd64_... and one in \sysWOW64.
Which one do you suggest should be used on a x64 OS... :-?
Question... do you know of a parm that will force devcon to "step" (debug mode) and display each step? All I need to know is what decon x86 is doing when I pass it a device's HW ID. I know that devcon x86 lists all devices properly as I saw the output, but I can't catch the op of the disable parm (API window closes immediately...).

    disable UAC ...

i read somewhere that the really dangerous viruses are able to disable UAC via script,so .... the only sense of UAC is to make probs for the user ;)
