Optiarc is seen as BD-ROM...
Hours later but not much further....
Do you run this drivers and AAD through compatibility Vista mode or just normally?

How to fix Brightness Control Problem of Forceware 19X.XX for AS6920G:
NVIDIA
DRIVER "FN + ARROW" BRIGHTNESS SOLUTION (WORKAROUND).
Hi guys,
1st time poster, let me know if this should go somewhere else.
I don't know if this affects laptops other than the Acer 6920G, but I have seen a few users describing this problem.
Playing around with the buttons as follows, I able to get it working to a satisfactory level.
THE BRIGHTNESS WORKAROUND BUTTON TECHNIQUE:
1. STOP trying to incrementally decrease brightness like this:
fn + left arrow,
left arrow,
left arrow, etc
2. START incrementally decreasing brightness like THIS, keeping fn pressed the entire time:
fn + F6 + left arrow,
F6 + left arrow,
F6 + left arrow, etc
This obviously applies to INCREASING brightness too. Just follow the steps using right arrow instead of left arrow.

quickie please,
wifi card has 1,2,3 connections.
a) which 2 do the white and black leads go to?
b) so what about the 3rd one? -
Outermost ones, I think. Can't remember which order. 3rd connections for a third antenna for 802.11n (Multiple In, Multiple Out) transmissions.
-
-
does that mean, although we have a N card, it will not work without a 3rd antenna anyway? -
It would probably work (to join/use wireless-n networks), just not at "full" Wireless-n speed, as that requires MIMO.
-
We have an N card?
Mine's just an A/B/G.
Check what yours comes up as in Device Manager. -
''Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN''
it also says on the wrist pad sticker 802.11a/b/g/Draft-N WLAN -
Right, you have a different model than mine. I'm "stuck" with a/b/g.
-
@TehSuigi: haha, thats going in my sig then
-
I've started from scratch.
1. New OS W7x64
2.First thing I did was to install Video 186.81 -OK and Audio Realtec 5582. With Audio I've had problems. 5582 error (-0001) was coming up as there was Microsoft HD Audio Device Driver 6.1.7600.76385 driver installed by default. Had to try few times and when there was no audio devices on system it finally went through in Vista compatybility mode.
3. Installed all those other drivers listed on Acer site for W7x64. All went OK with exeption of CIR ITE CIR (Consumer IR) Driver 5.1.0.1 which is coming up as an error.
4. Installed all Empowering Technology and utilites from Acer site for Vista in compatibility mode with exeption of GridVista_v2.72.317 which I didn't try and eRecovery_Management_v3.0.3007 which was coming up as error
5. Installed only app for W7x64 LaunchManager Dritek LaunchManager Application 3.0.01
Seems ready for AAD
6. Installed AAD... Success!!! I have BD in options but only 2channel.
7. Update AAD. OK! Went through to 2.5.7130 but only 2channel
AND
NOTHING!!!!!!
Is not playing BD!!!!
Is grinding, trying for while (as before didn't) but no playback.
I am close but still not there yet...
ANY SUGESTIONS PLEASE? WHAT I AM DOING WRONG? WHAT ELSE CAN I TRY?
As I remeber before in AAD when you flip between Cinema, HomeMedia, Advanced options there was this cliking sound. Now it is all absolutely silent. Do you have any sound when there? Is it maybe symptom that there is something wrong with audio driver?...
What exactly Audio Driver you having? Could you check it for me please?
I've tryied to run AAD in compatyblity mode but no success.
I've installed PowerDVD but no effect.
Please, Anything? What else should I try? -
Using 6.0.1.5582 Realtek driver.
Like I said before, you might need to set your speakers as 5.1 instead of stereo using eAudio to get the 6channel output.
If not even PowerDVD is working, it's got to be a driver issue. -

Firstly i apologise in advance as I know this topic has been covered many times but i don't understand how to fix it as i'm pretty useless with computers and am hoping someone can explain it really simply for me!
1. My acer arcade deluxe will not play any blu-ray, it used to play them. We've made sure the region is correct, it just doen't aknowlede there's a disk (it says please insert disk).
2. When i turn my laptop on it keeps booting up AADif I "exit" it goes to hibernating and then takes me round and round in circles when i try again. If I turn it off a the power it switches onto a blue screen (before which the screen is black with a red+yellow section
) followed again by AAD
It took me an hour to get my laptop on today! Yesterday when it was on the control panel on the left was stuck on full volume + mute?? However i was able to control the volume through using the mouse (although the full volume bar on the left stayed the same).
Sorry again for bringing up something that's already been addressed but as i said I need really simple instructions to fix it please! (if it's possible??)
Many thanks -
@gazzacbr: IDE mode disables the more advanced features of the SATA interface that the hard drive can use, essentially turning it into a PATA drive in the eyes of the OS. AHCI enables those features. IDE mode might be necessary to install Windows XP if you didn't slipstream the AHCI drivers into your install CD using nLite.
@mcmuffin: Acer Arcade Deluxe is particularly picky about Blu-ray. Do you have the latest update of it?
And your second point is the dreaded Acer Arcade Instant-On. It's a stand-alone program on its own separate Windows XP Embedded partition. The best way to exit out of it ISN'T the Exit button (which just puts the XP Embedded into hibernation), but to press and hold the power button on the laptop itself.
It's supposed to activate only when you press the Arcade button on your CineDash when the system's shut down, but if you have the HOLD button activated when you shut your system down, it might trigger by accident.
As for the wonky CineDash, try shutting down the system, removing the battery and AC adapter, holding down the power button for 15 seconds or so, then putting the power sources back and turning the system back on. -
I did have the latest update but it wasn't working and one forum i went on said they'd had success just restoring AAD to factory which i did but that didn't work either...also if i update my graphics software to the latest that upsets the catalyst controller??
The insant on hasn't happened since i pulled the battery out (touch wood!) but i've also been trying to remember to not leave hold on.
Another problem to add to my long list is I usually watch DVDs through my laptop on my TV but boys being boys my boyfriend decided to mess about with the laptop as the screen size wasn't quite right on the TV...now all the laptop puts on the TV is the picture from the desktopand he cant remember what he did so cant reverse the problem. Any ideas?
-
You will then need to go into the display properties on your computer and set the primary display to the one of your choice.
If you're running Vista, you need to press Fn-F5 until you get to the choice you want. -
McMuffin, you need to have a WHQL-certified video driver to enable Blu-ray playback. For you, that means going back to the one Acer provides on their download page, or waiting for ATi to start offering their own notebook driver (should be soon).
As for the display issue, it sounds like instead of duplicating your laptop's display on the TV, your boyfriend's faffing about caused the TV to act as an extension of the laptop's display. Doing as mentioned here in the topic should fix that. -
Surprise, i wont able to find any acer 6930g owner lounge ?
-
Then start one, daljeet! Nothing stopping you from doing so.
-
I have same problem! Why dont Acer release updated firmware??
-
cschef, I merged the previous topic into the 6920 Owner's Lounge so other 6920(G) users can help.
I ran into a single case of Blu-ray not playing (the movie 9), but I tested it with every other Blu-ray I own and they still work fine.
A quick checklist of things to make sure:
1. Do you have a WHQL video driver? Use 186.81 or 195.62 from Nvidia, or the stock driver from ATi (until they start releasing their mobile drivers).
2. Do you have a WHQL audio driver? Go back to the stock Vista one from Realtek; install in compatibility mode if need be.
3. Is your Windows version genuine? Just ruling it out, of course.
4. Is your Acer Arcade Deluxe updated to the latest version? If the latest version doesn't work, stick with the original one.
5. Does AAD Blu-ray work when you perform a restore to factory default?
6. Time to get a repair from Acer. -
Hi,
Acer has released new BIOS and new version of Acer Launch Manager (will it fix the brightness and volume issue?)
Now is 4:43am so I will test them tomorrow...
BIOS 1.16
Acer Launch Manager 3.0.02 -
-
tehsuigi, what about 186.82 from windows update? they're really good. no heating issues or problems.
new bios! i hope it fixes the throttling issues. no info as always. -
@cschef: That happened the one time I had an incompatible Blu-ray disc as well - the disc spun but didn't get recognized as inserted in the drive. It could've been a bad disc, but since my other BDs worked, it couldn't have possibly been a FW issue.
@hna: Haven't tested 186.82, or done any driver testing in a long time. Worth a shot. -
anyone tested the new bios?
-
I tested the new bios but whats turn out is after gaming for like 5minute, the screen full of dots, raining dots on my screen. =.=lll after that i flash back to 1.14, everything goes fine again. Wonder why will happened? And the latest Acer Launch Manager fix the volume panel brightness and the volume. Thats a good thing. =)

After Windows booted I've noticed that RMClock acused some high temps on CPU (I've done the undervolting thing and configured RMClock to show CPU Temps and Speed), so I remembered "the volume control stuck problem" and turned off the computer, unplugged the power supply unit, removed the battery (actually I use the computer without the battery) and kept the power button pressed for about 30 seconds to "initialize" the information of the BIOS or whatever...
Plugged the PSU, turned on the computer, entered the BIOS to Set to Default Values, and then selected my personal configuration, Saved and exit to reboot.
When Windows booted, everything seemed to be normal, I ran Dirt 2 and played for a while and no issues...
Hardware Monitor accused the following Max. Temps
Intel Mobile Core 2 Duo T7500
CPU Core #0 43ºC (109ºF)
CPU Core #1 44ºC (111ºF)
GeForce 9500M GS (@625/475/1425)
GPU Core 66ºC (150ºF)
Please try this and check it. -
when i run winphlash i get error 1275 says that plashnt.sys cant be loaded because of admin privilges.
i'm running win7 x64 btw. -
Are you running the program as an administrator?
-
yeah. i have uac disabled too.
-
@xelcius89: just to confirm, you could flash back to 1.14 just the same. i've heard of some that refuse to go back to an older version. did you try to solve the gaming probs or stay with 1.14. no word from acer, like release notes, on the changes for the new bios?
-
Plugged the USB Pendrive and put the Win 98 CD in. Rebooted the notebook and pressed the F12 to enter to boot device selection menu (must be enabled in the BIOS).
Select to boot from CD/DVD drive. Booted without CD-ROM support.
Select the Pendrive (in my case was C
And run "P.bat", if it warns you that can't execute because of memory managers, type "PHLASH16 V116.ROM /c /mfg /mode=3 /x".
I hope that it helps... -
that's not simple mate
isnt their an easy way? i wonder why this doesn't work. it says it supports x64, seems like it doesn't.
-
I remembered I was able to run it from a 32-bit Windows Vista Recovery DVD (not the Acer one), because that would let me open a command prompt.
-
anyone here was able to upgrade their bios from with windows x64?
-
-
Happy 100 pages, 6920G users!
-
er, no... i am on page 20
it depends on your forum view settings
but we are very near the 1000 threads
i still like my 6920G -
-
tehsuigi, do you realise how many age you've read up to now XD. Congratz everyone
-
Yeah, I've been here for most of it. Here's to one of the most dedicated communities on NBR!
If we can beat the throttling problem, we can do anything. -
ahhh, i see the 100 pages now
i have this book marked and when i click on that it always says page 20 of 20
but if i go to another forum and back again the i see the 100 pages
what i did want to see was the highest number of replies and views for the acer forum and all the other manufacturers, but if i try to sort by 'Replies' or 'Theads' the numbers are all mixed up......
REALLY close to the 1000 posts now.
ok, i realise i am rambling off topic now so i'll finish.... -
I think i've read somewhere else people were having problem with the keyboard missing some strokes, have anyone found a solution?
-
i found a 64bit winplash
