No need to be sorry lol! If you've got access to Vista disks then you've got no worries, otherwise you may into some issues when the Beta expires if you don't have any sort of backup to fall onto.

make sure you have the launch manager loaded first, so you can turn on/off the bluetooth, then load the bt drivers and should be ok (on vista 64 anyway)

yep, thats the one i have, i think wehn i installed the blue tooth first it hung untill i installed the launch manager to turn it on. had a similar prob on another laptop with wlan on vista 64, i never had a 'launch manager' type prog for the buttons. only way was to enable it on by default in bios so i did not need the hardware button to turn it on. any help?

Hiya guys, first post here and I am looking for a bit of help.

I have just reformatted the HDD on my Acer 6920G with a copy of Vista Premium 64-bit (I intend to install a RAM upgrade and also I got sick of the stupid partition and Acer's bloatware)

Problem is that I am now undertaking the long and arduous task of reinstalling all of the drivers onto my laptop. I have located the drivers on Acer's FTP and I am unsure which need installing onto my laptop.

    I have a 6920G with a T5750, 3GB RAM, 250GB HDD and a Radeon 3650

I have got as far as installing CCC and the wireless card drivers.

Can you please advise me which of the other drivers are neccessary for re-enabling cinedash etc to work.

    Thank You

Hi Danger, and welcome to the forums.
The Realtek sound would be a good start - they run the Tuba subwoofer on the 6920G (get the ones from Acer).
Launch Manager is the system that controls the CineDash - get that too.
If you have a fingerprint reader, the ABIG software suite will re-enable that.

I'd help out more, but I'm kinda busy right now.

    Thank you for your help.

I am currently installing the drivers but I am worried as my Blu-Ray drive is still showing as a DVD-RW. Is there any way to remedy this ?

hi dangerdan, there many threads about upgrading to vista 64, add realtek drivers for sound and you need to make sure you have whql signed drivers for graphics card to play blu-ray (are you sure you have a blu-ray drive?), get standard from recovery discs or acer site or latest signed from laptopvideo2go.
you can also load acer arcade from your recovery discs.

Hey guys, it has been awhile since I have posted here, laptop has been great since July. But know when I press the e button up near the right speaker, Acer Empowring Tech will not come up and I can not figure out why? I can go to the startup menu and it will open with no problem. This is not a serious problem just a slight inconvience that is bothering me. And another thing, is there a way to turn off the fingerprint scanner or deactivate it, because when I'm using my lappy with an external monitor it keeps thinking that I am swiping my finger and it exits out of any program that is currently open. Any help? Thanks a bunch.

I have 180.20 drivers on Vista 64 which were listed WHQL but, as I have just realised, with the modded inf I have lost the sigining & blu-ray playing. Anyone have a list of which drivers are for the 9500M GS without modded inf so I can play blu-ray again?

Waterwagen, you might have trouble acquiring a 6920G as they have been replaced by the newer 6930G and 6935G in most North American markets.
Go for one of those - newer chipset, possibly a faster CPU, and the awesomeness of the 9600M GT GDDR3. ^_^

Thanks, but none of those places have a Blu-Ray model. I believe TigerDirect doesn't even have any 16" Acers.

Can anyone from the US who has a Blu-Ray equipped machine tell me where they got it?

I downloaded from the page Tehsuigi posted.(Thanks man for all your effort on the drivers for the 9500M GS. Really2 appreciate it)

Oh yeah..what are the acer 6920G stock nvidia drivers?...thanks!

Hey Bourne! I'll see if I can be of help.
First off, your system should be able to play Blu-ray from factory settings. Are you using Acer Arcade Deluxe? Did you get all the updates for that software?
The fact that they don't read isn't particularly encouraging.

176.37 should have the WHQL certification necessary to enable Blu-ray playback (did you use the modded INF? That breaks it, and it's not necessary for the 6920G), but just to be safe, 174.51 is the "stock" driver for the 6920G. The Acer Euro FTP later listed 175.61 as an alternate due to some people having instability with 174.51.

Try it again on a clean install with 174.51 and the latest Arcade Deluxe updates.

Hey man wassup..im using acer arcade and power dvd 8 Ultra...im using the driver without the modded inf...and i have always been playing with power dvd 8..at times only with acer arcade coz power dvd 8 cant play certain titles(buggiest player ever encounted in my life) but both should have been run by autoplay like usual once i pop in the discs....thanks alot for the reply man..appreciate it..i will try the stock drivers with clean install...

it man..i have nearly 120 titles and 6920G has been my media center for my blu ray movies..hope its not hardware problem...but im still under warranty though...but the fact that i must wait for weeks for the repairs to be done if its hardware failure is just to irritating..luks like time for a ps3..just dont have the minerals yet..lol..

Well, if you're handy with computers, see if Acer Support can send the replacement Blu-ray drive directly to you for you to install.
    It's a one-screw, pop-out-and-in job, if I'm not mistaken.

bourne44, if you put a blu-ray disc in it should either auto-play or open it yourself in acer arcade, either case without signed drivers you get the big popup warning message about drivers etc. ie. you can still read the blu-ray but just cannot play the content. if nothing happens at all and you cannot see the disc then sounds like hardware :(

Who is currently running on BIOS version v1.10?
And if so, are you suffering the same CPU overheating problems as others?

Hm. That might finally explain why my system suffered from the CPU thermal issues but no one else's did.
Might have to look into that, although I can't say I'm fond of ending up with a bricked system.
Is Acer Support open on Sundays?

EDIT: Anyone else out there on v1.10? Did you update? How simple/safe was the process?

I want to update my bios but i want acer to give the go ahead.

I've noticed on my 6935G sometimes when restarting it the screen doesn't switch on, so i have to pull out the battery and psu then hold the power for a few seconds and then it will work normally.

I'll give acer a call and see what they suggest. I guess updating bios will be a good start.

Tehsuigi, do you know what's the best driver available for the 9500M GS in terms of limiting the downclocking problem and the most lowest temp driver available for the 9500M GS? with or without whql...it doesnt matter..

RiderXPS, to test the Cinebass, start playing a music track. Then right-click on your Volume Icon, click Playback Devices, then pick your Speakers and hit the Properties button.
In the window that pops up, click to the Levels tab, then turn the "Internal Subwoofer" volume all the way down/up. If it sounds like your music is coming out of crappy earphones when the level is 0, and much more full when at 100, your Tuba is working. If there's no difference, make sure you have the Acer-supplied Realtek audio drivers.
It's not a subwoofer per se - more of a low-to-mid frequency booster. If you want bass, get a good set of headphones or speakers.

@Bourne, I'm using 179.28, and it's never given me any problems. Heck, I'm even overclocking, and I haven't seen a GPU temp over 70! (then again, I have AS5'd my GPU core)
And on the other hand, Nvidia just released their latest notebook driver, 179.48. Give that a shot!
Go check my GFX Driver Thread for ideas.

    Hello

I'm curious about one thing. My 6920g has a hitachi sata hd. Ever since the beginning, it has abnormaly long times copying and installing programs.

I've noticed this as when I install games some take as much as 2 hours (GTAIV) to install. I have a wireless network, and I noticed that the transfer rate between my desktop and the laptop varies greatly, going as high as 7mb/s and as low as 100kb/s.

I eliminated a possible DVD drive problem on the install issue, as I tested also installing through game images stored in the harddrive.

I'd like to know if anyone experienced this and if there's a solution.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi guys,

I'm thinking of buying one of these with the 2Ghz CPU and the 9500M GS card.

Can anyone give me there experiances with gaming on World of Warcraft and if Crysis is playable? If so what settings should i expect?

GAZZACBR: I have used a TV tuner on a laptop before via usb, they work well but make sure you have a good antenna or they are pretty useless.

    Thanks

    Hi Gazzacbr,

Yea i stopped using mine, just bought it for a new gadget i guess haha.

Bought this laptop last night and made all backups as suggested a few times in this forum so not had any chance to game yet.

Read a few times that crysis can play ok providing all shadows are set to off. Seen a few youtube clips on that too. Just managed to get world of warcraft on it last night after 10 discs of loading lol, got the updates downloading tonight.

Farcry 2 is on my list of games to buy so im happy that it will cut it.

I have the 32bit Vista all stock speeds at the moment.

Another thing i was concerned about was the CPU stepping down once it gets to 58c, its not happend to me yet and i cant see anything under the thermal ACPI to indicate that it will do anything unless it gets to 106c critical. I wonder if Acer managed to bump up the temp threshold on the new batches? Amazed to see that my CPU settles at 22c when idle :) Well i will have a good mess tonight and see what happens with thats.

Coops, the Aspire 6920G can be somewhat wonky in its temperature reporting. On BIOS version 1.06 (use CPU-Z to check), RMClock and HWMonitor both read the CPU temp 15 degrees celsius below actual.

I upgraded to BIOS version 1.10 last night, and it looks like I need to double-check which tool's telling me the truth here. Good news is that it seems the CPU downclocking is GONE. I'll make a full post here later tonight on the subject.
