My shipping date appeared on my order status page after Tony from Cendirect emailed me me twice, first saying this 745 price was a miscalc. and then again to remind me that it ships with a bilingual keyboard (these guys seem to looking out for their customers).

Thanks for the response. I thinking about ordering the non backlit keyboard. But it's good to know everything works for the backlit. I recall someone in the other thread posting they ran into issues with not all the keys working.
Let me know how the i7 620m runs. And ofcourse, don't forget to do a before and after benchmark test.
-
OK, I know... WEI isn't a real benchmark, but... check this out.

What is going on here is that CenDirect sources from various different warehouses that are in competition with one another. When I ordered mine on the 26th, I paid 749. I saw that there were some in stock in montreal so I asked as to why my laptop isn't getting shipped out if they are in stock (this was by phone btw). His explanation was that I was put in queue for one warehouse where they were going for 749 (Didn't receive their units yet) as opposed to the warehouse in montreal which charged 775, but had 2 in stock. I had two options: One was to wait in queue for this other warehouse and pay the original 749 or to switch over to the montreal warehouse and pay 775. Because I asked to switch and pay 30 dollars more, they took from the montreal stock and immediately shipped it.
So, TL;DR, if most of you ordered and the price was 749, chances are you're stuck in queue at a warehouse that doesn't have their units yet, thus will have to wait until around oct 12th or so. -
Is this what everyone is talking about from cendirect?
It says nothing about video card in there? Is it possible for USA residents to order, have it shiped to 3rd party in canada and then ship back to buyer? -
Yes, but you'll have to pay tax on it. Which is at least 13% lol...
-
I'm pretty happy knowing the i3-370m is only .1 "WEI point" away from an i5-540m.
-
candian tax 13 percent? How exatly can a US resident buy it, have it sent to someone in canada? How would the warrenty work?
-
Every Province has its own tax, and most of these stores are based in Vancouver or Toronto, which have 13% tax.
Warranty is 1 year international, shouldn't be a problem. These stores sometimes offer shipping to the States, so you buy it directly from there. Another option is to have it shipped to a 3rd party(I don't know much about this method) and have them ship it to you. -
So the CPU isnt OC'able, but ALL 5650's will be, right?
Also, does anyone know where's the cheapest place to get the 3820TG (doesn't matter which CPU as long as it has 5650) shipped to California?
Thanks! -
So is it black as advertised or gun metal grey like the PCHome units? Does it have Bluetooth?
-
Black, no BT -
OOPS! I meant to say "that will NOT overclock"
My bad (and I used a double negative). They seem to all OC to some degree.
Sorry for the confusion. I think Lu Computers has the best price and the cheapest shipping. Under $800 delivered UPS in 3 days. I just don't know if they have any yet. I have the Canadian sellers updated on the first page of this thread (post #2).

You would think so, but UPS has ridiculous "brokerage" fees. It is UPS's charge for taking the package through customs for you.
-
Thanks for the answer. Like the black, hate no BT...
-
Lu Computers says $34 delivered to my door in New Jersey.

Edit: Nevermind, you may be right, if they ship it 3-day instead of standard.
-
Bastages!
LOL Oh - just saw the edit ... thanks.

You can get the correct BT module & internal USB cable as a package on ebay for $20 or so. You need to disassemble to install it though.
By the way, for those who are swapping in a drive from an existing 3820, the model from CenDirect has the Atheros wifi card & LAN card - At least that was the case with the unit I received. Your mileage may vary. -
If you're someone who will be bothered by blinking, you might want to be sure you get an OEM model. Believe it or not, there is an entire thread devoted to this.

I called and the support person confirmed that there will be no additional charges so I took his word for it and ordered. He said he expects them in stock early next week (possibly Friday).
I used a credit card and took the $16 hit in the case that I need to make a stop payment. Reviews of the sight have not been great so I played it safe. -
I put an order in on Monday and called them about it. I was told by their sales rep that they do not have any in stock but will get some by Monday or Tuesday of next week. I am expecting to get them on Thursday/Friday next week.
-
So this is from LU Computers? If it is true that the laptops will be coming in hopefully by next week I may order now. Will definitely not do a money order - I do not think money orders are a good idea for online purchasing.

did anyone else get 2 tracking numbers from cendirect? i got a ups one and a canada post tracking number. the ups tracking shows that something was delivered (not to me), and the canada tracking shows in route.
-
Wait, so does this mean that UPS will, or will not charge USA buyers that fee?
-
Sigh. My CenDirect order still hasn't shipped. I initiated the order on Monday 9/27, paid with a bank wire transfer on Friday, and have not heard anything yet. I wish I could do it over. Especially since when it DOES ship, apparently it'll be pretty slow.
-
I will wait for an I5 and 5650 combo

Not ...

Anybody buying one of the Canadian units who swaps out a different CPU, please be sure to check the identity of your clockgen and post it in this thread http://forum.notebookreview.com/acer/513560-possibly-overclocking-unclockable-3820tg-6.html The location of the clockgen can be found here http://forum.notebookreview.com/6700413-post45.html
We would also be interested in your OC'ing results if you would post them as well. That is particularly true if you put an I5-540M, I5-580M or I7-620M OEM in your unit. Finally, be sure to tell us where you bought it. I suspect that different batches may have different clockgens and may OC to different degrees. It would be nice to track a database from the beginning.

I have been emailing with them about the same issue. They were completely up front with me, saying they will not price match this unit because they paid a premium from acer distribution to get priority stock, amking them the only Canadian company with stock in their system.
Still going with them. For an extra 30 or 40 bucks, worth what could be weeks of sitting around without a laptop. -
And to update, I ordered mine late last night. Just got an automated message that the order has been inputted, and the unit will ship tomorrow.
Pretty good turnover, assuming ships as planned. -
-
Wow! $795.62 delivered to South Jersey.
And they take American Express for an additional 1%. I am so tempted. If only I needed it.
BTW, I had one all the way to check out and they seem to be in-stock.

BTW, these stores I can't vouch for, just places I've Googled up, or used search engines for the Timeline's SKU number.
I'll probably wait for something to stock, and I'll grab it in person, no rush heh. -

man i can't wait to receive this thing! cendirect informed me that the UPS tracking is meant to show the delivery to their warehouse. The canada post tracking is from their warehouse to the customer's location. The laptop shipped out on 10/4 and left Canada on 10/5.
-
Where'd you buy it from again?
-
10 characters. -
Oh woops.
-
And now we wait.
-
waiting is always the worst part. At least you don't have to wait for the USS Rotterdam to make port in America.

The ETA for Agile's 3820TG is 10/15.
-
they apparently have them in at CenDirect. I ordered one on Wednesday and got word from them it is shipping today Fedex. Should be here tomorrow or Monday.
More expsnive, but I am travelling soon so didn't have time to wait until the 15th. -
I just received mine yesterday, it's really great. Also, with the i3 in WEI you get 6.6 for calculations instead of 6.7 with the i5. So the i3 probably performs fairly similar to the i5 (at least, I think that's what that means).
-
I was actually fooling around with my work's Dell Vostro yesterday which has an i3-370m. I went to "Can I run it?" website and selected SC2, and it passed the CPU portion, and rated it at 4.xx ghz (prolly accounting for the fact that it's dual core). Anyhoo, I never expected it to pass, so I'm guessing the i3 should be fine for most things.
-
I recently just ordered one from cendirect, total was $885 and I'm from Richmond, BC and it says 10/12 eta on the stock checker... is that an accurate assumption or am I gonna expect a 1 week extended delay
and just one question about having no bluetooth, are there not bluetooth adapters out in the market? I dont see why it is such a problem
sorry I'm a notebook noobie btw
-
Has anyone in the States received their system from Canada yet? I'm hoping LUcomputers gets their inventory today.
Also, those of you who ordered with a credit card, did you get hit with a foreign transaction fee? I usually don't order stuff from outside the US, so I was surprised to see this pop up on the bill. I had only used PayPal for small items in the past. -
USB adapters are an option but most users who use BT want it integrated in their unit. One less thing to plug in or carry. Plus you loose the use of an USB port.

LUcomputers will not receive them before Wednesday or Thursday from what i was told.
I currently live in Montreal and going to Toronto for a business trip on Tuesday morning. I really wanted to get my hands on a unit before Tuesday morning but that seems impossible at this point.
Btw for anyone who is living near montreal i found a reseller that is selling them for 725$ each. I am going to pick one up when i get back from Toronto but he is willing to ship to anywhere in North America. This source is extremely reliable and is used by a lot of companies here in Montreal to provide any hardware imaginable.
I was told that he could get as many units as needed by Tuesday morning. -
Is there any contact information for this reseller? Do you know what the price for shipping might be?
