I know what your thinking, its some story about how the motherboard just magically stopped working like in 99% of mobo related deaths. uhhhh oh,no no not even close, not this time. This story comes straight out of the writings from such authors like; steven king;Dean Koontz or other writers such as Victor Hugo, William Shakespeare and T S Eliot. I feel as I'm not proper enough writer to fully appreciate this unjust that was bestowed onto this 3820tg.

Caution: contents of this document contain things like foam, deionized, contaminated and chemical/solvent burns. If reading about abused 3820tg's is hazardous to your wellbeing, please look away.

In short, bronsky forgot to put a water resistant sleve on his lappy and some contaminated water summerged his laptop in the back of someones vehicle cause of an on-site job accident cause by an operator out of control from some peace of vehicular equipment that bumed into where bronskys lappy was residing in the trunk with the contaminated water from the job site. After this happened it had to be decontaminated so that ment spraying it and dousing it a second time with some liquid foam(....lol) sometimes life throws people a curve ball(.(period))

please excuse me bronsky if Im being to forward..

    winks ;) and smiles :)
After searching heres the full version.

I don't think the US will see the 3820TG. Acer will continue to make minor changes to the model for the next few months but I would guess that a new version of the Timeline with a SandyBridge CPU and HD 6000 GPU will be anounced at CES in January and start shipping in Taiwan/China in March or April. The 3810TG never came to the US.

Acer is having a hard time keeping these models in stock anyway, I can't see the company trying to supply a new market ATM.

BTW, this I3 is a very nice little CPU. I am running it at 3.0ghz OC'd and it is stable as hell.

Hope you get one from the same batch I got, this clockgen OC's really well. The display is not quite as sharp as my original one, but I have known for months that the original display was exceptional.

Hey Bronsky, I got a 3820tg from Lu recently too. I'm trying to run clockgen but when it opens, there are no other options then clocks and options. There are no options for pll setup. Do you know why that is?

You downloaded the shareware verion and did not get a key yet - right? The registered version will give you the full functionality. You have to donate 500 yen (about $6).

So I've been trying to OC my the GPU and CPU on a core i3 370m 2.4ghz model. It seems that when I overclock the CPU using setfsb, my frame rates decrease. Any suggestions as to why that is?

An OC'd CPU can not be used for gaming. It affectes the frame rates. It is only good for other uses that do not include 3D gaming. We have no idea why. What kind of OC speeds are you getting out of your 370M?

I'm not trying too much actually. I was just trying to get as much out of the gpu and cpu as I can. For the cpu I got it at least 2.8ghz.

From earlier, I just notice overclocking the cpu slows down the Resident Evil 5 benchmark test quite a bit.

I just got one of these little monsters from ncix.com for $739.99

    Great machine.

    AS3820TG-7360

I think they have it labeled wrong without the 'G' distinction. It's listed as the AS3820T-7360

I'm planning to purchases the Acer 3820TG from Lu Computers and have it ship to the states. Has anyone used a credit card or paypal for that purchases? Were there any extra fees in doing so? What would be the cheapest option to purchases the Acer 3820TG right now?

I used a credit card for my LU purchase. There were no extra fees, and I actually got a good exchange rate. I can't remember exactly but I want to say my total was around 790 Canadian and 780 USD, and at the time the exchange rate was something like .98 so it was very close. Someone (Bronsky?) mentioned here that their bank did the exchange at like 1.02, so that's good (I'm with Bank of America using a Visa debit card).

HOWEVER, it was $38.50 for 3 day shipping, and I purchased the unit middle of the afternoon on the 31st (exactly one week ago), it didn't ship until Tuesday, and it's ETA is the 9th....this coming Tuesday, one week later. Someone in the other thread purchased it a day later and his ETA is Monday, so that's pretty awesome >.> Mine's coming to Southern California, if it matters.

I think this is the most annoying, taken from UPS's website right now:

HODGKINS, IL, US 11/04/2010 2:48 P.M. DEPARTURE SCAN
    11/04/2010 3:38 A.M. ARRIVAL SCAN
DETROIT, MI, US 11/03/2010 8:15 P.M. DEPARTURE SCAN
    11/03/2010 4:45 P.M. IMPORT SCAN
CONCORD, ON, CA 11/03/2010 6:55 A.M. DEPARTURE SCAN
CONCORD, ON, CA 11/02/2010 7:35 P.M. EXPORT SCAN
    11/02/2010 7:35 P.M. ORIGIN SCAN
    11/02/2010 5:58 P.M. PICKUP SCAN
    CA 11/02/2010 5:59 P.M. BILLING INFORMATION RECEIVED

If you'll notice, UPS hasn't seen the package since it left Illinois on Thursday afternoon! Maybe I'm crazy but it seems to me that if it hasn't been scanned for "Arrival" it's been moving the whole time (you know, it departs one place and arrives at another), but that just doesn't make sense. So really, great service from UPS and LU both, can't be happier with how this is going :(

Almost all credit card companies will dock you 1-3% fee on top of your order with a foreign transaction fee. You won't see this at the time of your order but you will see it on your credit card bill. It's not really a huge deal as you won't pay tax if your importing it into the US, but something to keep in mind.

Beware of credit card currency conversion fees

They seem to - they have a US-specific website ( http://www.ncixus.com/) where goods are priced in US dollars (and I guess for the time being are therefore mroe expensive...)

Just picked mine up from Memory Express in Richmond for $712 before tax. Was $750 - 5% in store discount. But the 12% tax brings the total back to $799.

But since Im US citizen Im going to file for the tax exemption rebate.
