Damn thats bad news, yeah I was about to use a foreign Visa Card.
Maybe i should just email them first, thanks for the info
Hmmm, newegg.com accepts Paypal too, would that give me a problem with my Visa Card? I guess it shouldn`t

Someone on these forums suggested this earlier (can't remember who...sorry): If you call your credit card company, tell them in advance of the purchase, they may be able to contact the retailer and have the issue sorted out for you. Also I know of someone who ordered a phone using a Canadian card, using a US address, but it required dealing with the seller and the credit card company over the phone.
Again, all anecdotal stuff, but worth checking out with your credit card company if your options are limited. -
I ordered from Newegg and decided to pony up for the 1810T. The clincher was the 2X1g config for the 4100. I was going to upgrade the ram, bluetooth and live with the shorter time. Don't have to worry about it now.
Sure would be nice to find and easy solution to overclock this. I am not too scared since I did the pencil tricks back in the day on the video cards and CPU's but to solder...maybe not so much. Any help there would be greatly appreciated and undervolting as well. -

I finally went for it and ordered from Amazon.com since nobody would accept my international Visa Card
Delivery estimate 24/11 - 7/12
It`s gonna be a looooooong wait! -
hey,
just bought this morning the white 1810tz!!
superb workmanship (yes, superb for a netbook, just good for a notebook). Good keyboard (flexible, just a little) and (suprise) good touchpad!: the finger glides well, and the buttons (thin) seems ok. -
ok got my 1410 su2300 now... upgraded bios to 3120... win7x64 numbers are 3.9 4.8 3.3 3.2 5.5
not bad...
is this the forum?? or is it the 1410/1810t single core one??
im gonna post in both till someone clarifies!! -
You`re ok here with your dual core 1410 no worries
Welcome to the club! -
I received my new device today which isn't an Acer but a Nokia Booklet
!
First impressions:
Keyboard is mighty good and great for quick typing. Don't find it small at all, as some previewers said.
Integration of WWAN into Win7 is awesome. I just start the device and am immediately online. No notifications to click away. Very good!
Only Win7 Starter but I have a copy of Win7 Pro from MSDNAA.
If I move windows quickly they leave trails but this will hopefully get better with a newer driver.
Speed is OK for surfing, Office, Skype etc. but a bit slow.
No laptop sleeve to transport it in. Costs 20 extra
!
All around great device. For things which require a biggers screen or a faster processor I keep my good old Thinkpad. -
What do you think about the white plus "alu" palmrest mix...? You like it? Also, how doest the "pearl" finsih blend with the standard white parts (I'm guessing base, battery, etc.)?
Enjoy -

Oh UPS... Where art thou?

Ghosting the drive right now before I wipe and install Windows 7 Ultimate x64 =)

I haven't had a chance to use my 1810t much yet but it was a pleasant surprise to have it successfully output via hdmi and vga ports simultaneously (disabling the laptop screen) in an extended desktop way. This lets me use 2 external monitors at once (hdmi->dvi cable and vga) which my old (much) more expensive laptop couldn't do.

I knew a little bit patience will be honored

I had mine delivered to work after having all my previous Newegg orders sent to my box @ a local UPS Store and Newegg flagged it for manual address verification late afternoon, yesterday.
They said it wouldn't ship the same day so I was a little bit bummed. Then was pleasantly surprised this morning when I checked my e-mail, they *had* approved the address verification and was shipped the same day I placed the order.
And now it's here!
I was initially peeved at Newegg as I've done close to 6-figures of business with them over the past 8 years but understand when a shipping address isn't on file with the credit card company, they need to review it. Least they did it quickly.
At least you have a present waiting for you at home!
Cheers,
Kermee -
I'm interested in knowing how much snappier/more responsive or any other change you notice with the clean install. I'd probably move to Ultimate as well, but I'd rather go the in-place upgrade by entering the activation code -- now that I've already cleaned up the gunk, installed software, etc. -
Question about Windows 7
Looks that the 1810t-734g43n will come with Windows 7 Home Premium, which doesn't allow XP virtualization as far as i know. Is it possible to upgrade W7 - free of charge?
Or do we just have to live with it, that we potentially have a processor that can do VT, while our Windows 7 version cannot? -
You'd need to upgrade to Windows 7 Professional to use Windows XP mode / Virtualization. There's a Windows Anytime upgrade for that. $89.95.

Looks like we're not getting the Samsung memory modules for the U.S. bound 1810T's.
About to start some memory benchmarks for a baseline before I do some SPD editing. Going to try changing them to 800MHz 6-6-6-18 first before I try 800MHz 5-5-5-15. -- These are virtually throw-away modules for me so if I end up "frying" or "bricking" them to the point I can't restore the SPD...

Simple question. I am in the USA and DESPERATELY want a WHITE (with Aluminum Keyboard Rest) 1410 or 1810TZ. The one like the 1410 on the YouTube videos. Where can I get one being American? Do I have to import it? Will it have an American keyboard if I do? ANY help would be greatly appreciated. Price is no object, I really want this
Thanks!!
-
So what I'm trying to say is that going for the white model for purely cosmetic reasons might cost you two ways -- first, the cost in non-$ (Euro, whatever, it costs less in US) for an imported model will cost to you more to import it (customs, maybe). Second, you are not only paying more for it, but also getting less than the U.S. models at the higher price: weaker configuration (SU2300 vs. SU7300, etc.) definitely, and also potentially worse build quality. At the end of the day, its your money and your choice, of courseI just thought I'd point this out to you -- as I myself had considered buying the white while on an upcoming business trip to Italy, but abandoned the idea after running this analysis through my head.
-
I know I might be a little naiive, but I must have one. I would actually prefer a white 1810TZ (if it looks identical to the 1410 on the YouTube), but a 1410 would be fine as well. As long as they are the higher end models of either. My main concern is can I get one with an American keyboard? Like I said, price doesn't matter to me, I am willing to pay what I need to because it's not available in the US.

SeattleGuy2000, I am also in the U.S and would like the option of the white model. So far, it looks like there's no signs of it coming here unfortunately, is it a cultural thing, that those in Europe and Asia like white notebooks more than Americans?
For now, it looks like you will have to import one. I'm not sure if the international white models have the option of an American keyboard. You'd have to live with an international keyboard or transplant an American keyboard, but those are only offered in black. Warranty and support may be an issue as well.
I know there are services which paint your Ipod, game console, laptop, etc. That could be an alternative. -
Can anyone confirm that the 1410T/1810T has an open PCIe slot for a 3G card?
-
Can someone please help me with recommendations of import web sites where an American can purchase a white and aluminum 1410 (with SU2300) or 1810TZ? I've never purchased anything internationally so I don't know anything about this process.
I appreciate your help!! Once I get it, how can I restore it to an Amercian version of Windows 7 Home Premium? Sorry for all the questions, but you might be happy to know that your help will make my entire year

Sorry to say: I believe it isn't aluminium, but plastic that "might" look like it. At least, it's that way in the black one..
-
I'm pretty much obsessed with this since I saw it on YouTube.

@seattleguy2000
I'd wait for US availability of the white model. Those devices are far too expensive here in Europe after currency conversion.
@PCIe slot
Someone already modded a slot and found out that there is a white list in BIOS so it could be difficult to find working cards(at least if you want to use a newer BIOS version, v3108 seems to work). -
1410 & 1810 series Single Core
1410 & 1810 series Dual Core
Confusing to me is the current name of our newer Dual Core thread.
" Acer Aspire 1810TZ ~Timeline (dual core) 11.6" Thread"
Perhaps if possible, it could be renamed to.....
" Acer Aspire 1410 and 1810 ~Timeline (dual core) 11.6" Thread"
The opening messages at each thread should specify the CPUs
If your computer has a Single Core... Intel 723, 743, SU3500, then...
If your computer has a Dual Core... Intel SU2300, SU4100, SU7300, then...
(not sure about the 723 & 743, actually)

What is a white list, a list of allowed Devices...? The 180TZs that come with "3G" devices are (hopefully) provider-independent... -
You need to purchase one of these:
... and solder it on.

Unfortunately you won't find one with an "American" keyboard here, but I can't imagine a UK (or Ireland) keyboard would be that radically different... :-/ -
Thx for the info -
Shipping to the US is ~ $50
Black 1410 US keyboards at eBay for $20.
The white 1810 will cost $893. The same black/blue US model costs $599.
Not sure about warranty service either. Lenovo, for example, only
warranties in the country of origin. Worse, what if it arrives DOA? -
Any reason the Windows 7 home premium that the 1810T ships with can't be upgraded to windows 7 professional via the sudent discount site for 29.99?
-
Does anyone have any foreign web sites where I can order a 1410 (su2300) white or 1810tz white and have it shipped to America? If not are there any forum members who would be willing to pick one up for me and ship it to me in Seattle? I will pay you whatever you want. Please please let me know. Thanks.
-
Are the build quality of the 1410 and 1810 the same? (Looks like they use the same chasis). I only seen the blue AS1410 with the SU2300 at a local Fry's, but they're all sold out : (

Amazon showing some stock through TigerDirect!
Go nuts people, i just canceled my original order (Delivery 26/11) and made a new one (Delivery 4/11 !!!!) -
It ain't 1920x1200 or higher, but you're always able to plug in a monitor into the 1810T; least you have something portable and workable in a pinch.
Android Development (or any Java development for that matter) will really push the SU7300 but it holds it's own. 4GB of RAM *really* helps... Just don't expect blazing speeds. =)

I remember someone else saying they got PC6400 as well... -

Man, you guys have it good. I came home to my lovely laptop and when I turned it on, what do I see?

YEP, time for another RMA. This is becoming really uneventful! First the wait, now the tragedy! I hope JR will do good on this, I have a plane to catch in two weeks. Hopefully they will do an overnight + $25 credit to patch my wounded joy. -
