Sure. How do you get it for $419?

Naja , this means i would have to use a friend of mine currently living in Germany.

Thing is, what if they finally understand that they messed up the price? What would happen to the money that we payed? I guess they would be obliged to sell even for this ridiculous price?

What doesn't make any sense to me is that according to Intel SU2300 has VT while SU4100 doesn't. Is there anyone that confirm this with real life experience?

People with SU4100 said so too.

Sadly 4100 doesnt support VT-x , really cant understand Intel sometimes!

The images shown on notebooksbilliger.de are inconsistent with the model that is sold.

It shows the older 751 model (no HDMI, different layout etc)

    Should this worry me?

Unless you're gaming or benching, probably nothing. I took benchmarks just for the fun of it though.

In Windows 7 WEI for Memory, going from DDR2-667 to DDR2-800 raised the score from 4.7 to 4.8.

    Here are the EVEREST results:

    DDR2-667 (5-5-5-15)

    DDR2-800 (5-5-5-15)

On the notebooksbilliger.de forum a staff member just wrote that "the price is correct, at least for now. Price changes can always happen, right?"
That's what he said. Cryptic answer :)
He added that other colourings might get offered in the future too!

mogolfiero, if you want, I can help you with aquiring one! Drop me a PM or so!

    Another downer somehow:
According to this page ( http://www.microsoft.com/Windows/windows-7/compare/default.aspx) you wouldn't not be able to change the language set of your OS with Home Premium. What an incredible stupid restriction... totally useless.

Has anyone got their hands on a 1810T yet?? This might be a silly question but I'm wondering if the adapter that comes with it can take the full range of voltages (220-240V, 110-120V, etc.). Need to make sure it will travel well.

    Thanks!

    Be aware.
Many of those 1410 keyboards on eBay were designed
    for a 3-year old 14" Acer Aspire 1410.

Yup.. Acer reused the same model number.
You can tell if the seller includes other older
model numbers, but not the current 1810.

Same with batteries on eBay and elsewhere designed for the older Aspire 1410.
Thumbnail is the 14" Acer Aspire 1410

I have posted other compatible keyboards in Timeline Tweaks.

    @lighttravel
Yes, it does. You just need the proper cable or adapter.

Sorry for my bad English, I´m from Spain and I will buy the Acer Aspire TimeLine AS1810T-413G25N with 11.6" LED / Dual Core SU4100 1,30 Ghz / 3072 Mb SDRAM / 250 Gb SATA / Windows 7 Home Premium / 6 cells next week.

Does this computer accept ddr3 memory?

Which cover, mouse and bluetooth do you recommend?

Will a 7.200 rpm h.d improve the acer perfomance?

    Thanks.

    1. The non-tablet 11.6" timelines only accept DDR2
    2. -
    3. There is a nice comparison of drives somewhere in the NBR Hardware subforum.

No DDR3 yet on the ~1410 and 1810 series.
However, the new Aspire 1820P Tablet uses DDR3
along with the extended 8GB max.

Pick a BT mouse that is comfortable in your hands.
It is so important, and nobody can say which one feels best for you.

Your interest in a 7200 rpm hard drive ...
I replaced the original 160/5400 in my Lenovo S10 last year
with a 320/7200. Measures faster, but I notice no difference in everyday use.

Are you sure the Acer 3935 keyboard is compatible with the 1410/1810T(Z)??

    Not an issue either :)
I may be Greek but i`ve been studying German for 12 years now :) So it would help me freshen up a bit!

Also got some win 7 professional from MSDN-AA so no problems there.

Thanks for your kind offer LFDM for helping me aquire one , but i already got a friend in Munich, so i am ready to order on Monday! Has anyone received from them yet? I would like to know that it is for sure the 1810 T model with everything on (4gb 320hdd bt etc)

They also state 2-4 days for getting the model and then shipping it , am i correct?

I came to this conclusion after googling the number printed on the backside of my 1810T's keyboard. The keyboard is called ZA5. There are sites out there that claim the same like this eBay listing for example:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Acer-Aspire...temQQimsxZ20090917?IMSfp=TL090917233012r31287

Im not 100% sure, because I never tried it out, though.

    Edit:
Here is a photo of an Aspire 3935 keyboard:

well, I'd say there's something wrong then: I've seen the Acer 3935 in a store and it has the same keyboard as the Timeline 3810T.. the same in the photographs I posted. And quite different from the 11,6" acer..

    Not about keyboards......

Saturday's Oct 31st Taipei Times says that Acer will probably
become " the world's largest notebook brand before the end of 2009".

Gartner Inc (whoever they are) says Acer had 21.2% of the global
market in the third quarter, only 0.2% behind HP.

Posted because Acer is still not well-known in the US.

Don't think anyone owns one so far. We have to wait some days I guess. notebooksbilliger.de just confirmed that they start shipping it in the middle of next week. Someone will probably have it by end of next week then (the info that some guy had his one already shipped was false), to gather some hard information. As I am located in Austria I'll have to wait till next Monday I guess :(
I don't think there is any doubt about the general specification of it though, Bluetooth is the only thing that's partially ... still in the blue ;) There's a 99,5% chance that it is included though IMO.
Looks like quite a number of people have already ordered it, big demand for this item!

OT: Just a personal question, how comes you're learning German for 12 years? I am curious.

O.T. I started just for fun (was bored with english :p) and just loved the language :)
Then i simply never stopped! Got some friends/relatives also there, so they were a big influence :)

Damn, I hope for myself that they just sold out their first batch... Don't want to wait 2 more weeks, that would be insane.

As I said, someone told me he contacted notebooksbilliger.de and they said they start shipping next week... So it's pretty sure, that the first delivery just sold out...

    Bad luck for though :(

The adapter does 100 - 240 range in my 1810t. Of course, the prongs/plug needs an adapter in different countries, but it does take in the full range of voltages. Its a 30 W adapter.

I posted earlier that I was having some problems with H.264 playback on my 1810T. Installing VLC media player didn't help at all. I read through the thread that discusses using MPC HC with Cyberlink's Power DVD codec but the discussion seems to come to the conclusion that the issue was resolved with Windows 7 and WMP 12 which of course is what my machine came with. I have since discovered that the problem is also intermittent. So, when I'm watching a clip and experience some lag, I may be able to immediately watch the same clip a second time with no problems. Again this is all with only about 30% CPU usage!

I'm also experiencing another (and more aggravating) problem with HD playback. I can't watch ANY HD clips on Vimeo (example: http://www.vimeo.com/1173296) without the audio constantly breaking up or "clipping". When I turn off HD in the sites embedded player the problem goes away. I'm once again baffled because even with HD on the CPU usage hovers around 60% which is the same as I reported getting while playing the Lady Gaga video on youtube which played perfectly. Also, with HD on the actual video is perfectly smooth, it's only the audio that's effected. Do any of you have any thoughts on what might be going on here? I just don't get it. Also, could another 1810T owner please confirm this for me by playing the clip linked above?

    Thanks guys! :)

I just watched about half of the video full screen and it played almost perfect. The audio did make a few pops a couple of times, but it never skipped or caused any noticeable issues that a casual listener would care about. The video played backed just fine.

Thanks for the confirmation! ;) After reading your response, I watched this clip again because I realized that I hadn't tried this without closing out the multiple i.e tabs I usually have open. With five other tabs open the clipping was constant, after closing them out I'm getting the same result as you with just a few "pops" here and there. This would seem to indicate that the processor is struggling. However if that's the case, then I can't understand why task manager shows only 60% load even with multiple tabs open? Peaks never even come close to 100%. Also, why is only the audio effected when HD video is much more CPU intensive? It just seems like something else is going on here...

Using the current mpc-hc x64 in the options->playback->output set the renderer to EVR (Vista/.Net3). Before when trying to load 1080p x264 videos they would take 70-100% of the cpus and lag/desync the audio using the default EVR custom pres.. When switched to the plain EVR (not the custom pres. one) cpu load drops to <30% and things seem very smooth. Also FWIW blurray discs play back just fine provided you can get them onto the machine.

As for your second issue, my 1810t hovers around 60% playing back the clip you linked to on vimeo. I did not notice audio sync problems but that may not have been the best clip to test.

Not counting youtube/vimeo HD flash video I think the 1410t should be able to do just fine with 1080p h264 content and bluray discs for those thinking about using this for a home theater pc.

    Gaidin

Edit: Browsing around youtube's hd movie trailers they seemed to play just fine with no abnormal cpu usage. Hmm not sure what I did but both EVR and EVR custom pres. seem to work fine for me now (ie DXVA mode is enabled).

Have you tried a more beefy system for comparison, such as a desktop with one of the newer processors? The Lady Gaga video was initially thought of as the benchmark for the SU3500 capability but was later found to be a problem with desktops as well. It could just be a matter of codecs and other software optimization. I viewed it in Firefox with about 15 tabs open (some of them refreshing automatically, periodically) and the video played very watch-ably with very occassional stutters when I moved the mouse, etc.

    Hi

I'd like to buy the 1810tz, in france. No shop has it in stock.
I won't buy it if the screen borders are glossy. I hate glossy screens as well, but as we almost cant find mate ones anymore...
So could please someone tell me what is glossy on that machine, the lid, the screen borders ?
Of course Ive checked some photos on the web, but im not sure if they actually pictured the TZ or the T (as it may vary I guess).
I guess 1410 is the same but who knows ....

    Thanks

Ya, my desktop has an AMD Phenom II 940 quad core, and it has none of these problems. I suspect you're right though about codecs and other software optimization. At least I hope you are right! :D

Have other people noticed that the fan in the 1810T is always on when it's plugged into AC power?

Batterybar shows that my full battery charge will last 5 hr 55 mins for my 1810t. The windows 7 power applet shows 7:45 minutes. I completely discharged the battery yesterday to get them synced but they are still different. Since I left the computer on overnight for the discharge, I am not quite sure what the actual run-time of the battery was... Batterybar says that the battery is 62826 mWh. Can anyone else confirm any similar observations?

On a separate note, here's a comparison of the relative effects of crapware loaded by different OEMS. Good thing that this is getting some press:
