Well, besides the fact that I do want 3G, the combo of the SU7300 & 4GB RAM is certainly tempting...:

    SU3500 490 points– NBChk # 65 („ Core 2 Solo“, 1.4GHz, 800MHz FSB, 3MB cache, 45nm Penryn)
    SU2300 750 points – NBChk # 59 („Celeron dual Core“, 1.2GHz, 800MHz FSB, 1MB cache, 45nm Penryn)
    SU4100 840 points – NBChk # 57 („Pentium dual Core“, 1.3GHz, 800MHz FSB, 2MB cache, 45nm Penryn)
    SU7300 890 points– NBChk # 56 („ Core 2 Duo“, 1.3GHz, 800MHz FSB, 3MB cache, 45nm Penryn)
    SU9400 930 points– NBChk # 52 („Core 2 Duo“, 1.4GHz, 800MHz FSB, 3MB cache, 45nm Penryn)

But I gotta have my internal WWAN ;)

Are there people who bought their 1810T(Z) at Newegg, Amazon or J&R who have a big enter-key, like the one in this previous message? Amazon and J&R show pictures with big enter keys (and smaller left shift), but Newegg shows pictures of a 1810T(Z) with a small enter key. So I don't really know which version is the real US version of the 1810T(Z).

European keyboards usually have a big Enter key, US keyboards have a small Enter key.

    Hi,

I'm new on this forum so I apologize if I do not respect some rules :(

Recently I bought a 1810TZ (in Belgium) and I would like to add a WWAAN module. I made some research on this forum but didn't found relevant information to do it beside there are some problems with regognisation of some 3G cards.

As there seems to be a 1810(x) with 2 different 3G modules I made some research on E-bay to find one of those models (to avoid compatibility problems).

    That's what I found:

    - The mini PCI-e card, which is the HUAWEI EM770 model

    - The sim-card slot

    - And finaly the antenna (which I hope to be compatible)

Now I have some questions. First of all, will this material be compatible with my 1810TZ and will it work with european network? (I mean, is this WWAN card for the European market or the US and is there any difference between the Qualcomm model?)

Beside this, I don't have the mini PCI-e slot so I will have to solder it, will this model be perfect as I notice different size (what are those sizes due to?). Will this sim-card slot fit into the 1810? Is it difficult to solder those 2 items?

I do thank you for your useful help. Once I have the right material at home I will make a guide on how to install 3G on your ACER 1810..

The pci-e slot is useless, someone checked the signals. Apparently only the usb lines are active.

    Hello
After following this tread almost all the way, which helped to make an informed decision I got my 1410 SU2300 a week ago; considering that I upgraded from the 751h this machine feels great. With the Battery Bar and 1810tray working this system runs almost as cool and silent as the 751 that I left behind. I want to thank: Der_Mali, Phil, and Links for all the advise provided. It has really helped a noob like me!

I think the context is for a WWAN/3G/4G card.

miniPCIe WWAN cards only need the USB lines enabled. They are typically USB devices using a bridge driver. (i.e. Dell notebooks with open miniPCIe marked 'WWAN' means that miniPCIe slot only has the USB lines enabled).

    Cheers,
    Kermee

Have any of you guys tried 1810tray with your SU2300 notebooks? I'm using it and even when I'm running at peak CPU, the fan doesnt kick in to super high when it needs to. I end up running temperatures up to 63degrees. I think the fan settings are different from the SU3500? Or is this normal?

hi i have a acer 1410 the su2300 version and also a gateway su 2300 equivalent model. The backlit on the acer is dimmer than the gateway equivalent model and also the keyboard flex is worse on the acer version. Does anyone have the similar experience ie. comparing Acer 1410 to Gateway EC1435u?

I left it at it's default of 52 degrees. But even when I choose manually which fan speed, it's maximum is super slow compared to it's native.

Actually, now that you mention it, I observe the same for the SU7300 1810t as well. There is some modulation of the fan speed by 1810tray when the load increases, but the maximum by 1810tray is much lower (in audible speed) than default native!

Well, it's not a firsthand comparison but I know that a few months ago when I first started looking into 11.6" "netbooks", comparing the Intel-powered Acer Aspire One 751H vs. the corporate sibling AMD-powered Gateway LT3100, the Gateway definitely had slightly better build quality and aesthetics (in addition to overall better specs & performance). I didn't buy either, but at the time I definitely felt the Gateway was by far the better machine of the two for a variety of reasons.

It's like Acer often puts better hardware/specs on their branded products (or at least offers a broader range of configurations) but targets the comparable Gateway units at retail impulse purchase shoppers. They put a nicer set of clothes on the Gateway versions, so to speak.

I've also noticed this in the past when comparing a 10" Acer N270 machine at Best Buy with the comparable Gateway version of that same machine across the street at Office Depot. The GW version definitely was a bit snazzier and more sophisticated looking and seemed to have a higher quality casing. I didn't pay much attention to any potential LCD panel differences between the two.

the minimum discharge rate of my 1810t is 8.5W(I read it for about 5minutes) with bluetooth off , wifi off , brightness 3 at idle
    (from RMclock)

Is it possible to lower it some more?

and What kind of discharge rate do you guys have?

1410 SU3500, min brightness, wifi on, reading this forum in firefox with few tabs open i get on average 5.5W. It usually stays around 4.3-4.7W and then would go up to 6.5-7W for some time (accessing HDD?). I got it so low by using RMClock to undervolt + hardware undervolt mod (see Tweaks (2) thread) + all settings to aggressive power-saving in W7 Pro Power Options thing. If i watch youtube, or browse excessively it goes up to around 7-8W.

On Ubuntu I get constant 10.4W with no power-management tweaks. I'd expect it to go down to around 8W if i tweak it.

Re: two-year limited warranty vs one year limited warranty

how much is a as1410-2285 spec. /w a two-year limited warranty worth. if a as1410-2285 w a one year limited warranty is $399.99 no tax free shipping.

as1410-2099?? same spec but 2 years acer warranty... on a hp dm3, hp charges $119.00 for that second year( on a hp I might buy ;two of the last 3 laptops I have are the dv7000 and the dv9000 series both have had several trips back to hp on overheating problems, MB and HDD.) All still working and hp covered under warranty/company extended care.

Any news of SU 7300 based 1810-models in Sweden anyone? The win7-based versions of the SU 4100-models is on shelf now, but I am looking for the SU 7300-models...

I've seen them available in Germany, but I am unsure wether I can order a model from Germany and get a swedish keyboard layout.

What is the VID of your su3500?
I set it to 0.875v(I think it is the lowest?), but still cannot get below 8

What do you mean by all settings to aggressive power-saving?

Maybe hardware mod is the key?

Ok guys , i decided to drop my Greek 1810TZ order and go for the full on 1810T from the States.

Finally my Credit Card got approved. Sadly Amazon and TigerDirect got no stock, so i bought the unit from J&R. Hopefully i won`t get a bad unit, and won`t have to deal with customer support , since some of you reported that it`s bad as hell :)

I used "Checkout With Amazon" from JR`s site but since then i haven`t got an email from JR confirming my order. All i got is the payment , that i can watch from my Amazon Payments Account.

How do these things work? Should i expect an email from JR any time soon comfirming my order and shipping?

I also noticed that when i ordered the message on JR.com was "Shipping in 1-2 days" and now its up to "3-5 Days"

In my JR.com account i got no orders whatsoever

I use Crapcleaner (CCleaner) and Glary Utilities and manual edits using msconfig. While I have no experience with the Decrapifier, from their webpage it appears it removes "specific crap" from specific vendors and their list doesn't include OEMs (as Acer). Let us know if it helps any -- I think I derived the maximum benefit from removing McAfee and installing AVG antivirus instead (and the Windows 7 firewall rocks!)

    Thank you for your answer.
I read this thread but don't fully understand what this person did. He soldered a mini-pci-e connector 3.9mm hight and sim slot but also had problem to have his WWAN card working (gtm 382 mo40x). This is why I would like to know if the huawei model would work (to avoid compatibility problems). Otherwise do you think all the material I mentioned would work perfectly once soldered? What do I have to change to enable 3.3v?

I`ve got my order number from "Amazon Payments" and a confirmation email from them too. Nothing from J&R though.

    Payment says its completed

I guess i should just wait for the next email telling me that my order has been sent together with the tracking code?

My strategy is to first manually uninstall everything I could and wanted, through control panel. Then I turned off everything I wanted to not start at boot, through msconfig. I run the ccleaner and glary utilities periodically to just keep the system clean (they remove orphaned registry keys, temporary files and such). Has worked pretty well for me in XP over the years and so far in Win7. I don't believe Acer has included anything that is hardwired in the system that they can't be simply removed this way. I'd probably do a clean-install if/when I get an SSD but so far I'm good.

Your best bet would be to drop flash2light a PM and ask for a step by step guide. I can't tell you which steps to take as I'm not planning to reopen my 1810t anytime soon.

If you have an order number and a phone number, you should call to confirm, unless of course the long distance bill is cost prohibitive (in which case I would use a calling card or skype). You could also wait for the next 24 hours for the email from J&R.
