After a while, you get so many prints that it starts to look like a matte finish. :)

Probably Sam's Club and/or Costco. They sell their electronics with 2 year warranties.

I'm still trying to decide if I want to get something like a Zagg invisibleSHIELD for the lid, or do something like 3M Carbon Fiber film instead.

as1410-2099?? same spec but 2 years acer warranty...
I wondered about the 2 year warranty on that one. Is that one for a specific reseller?

I was told that is the model the Sams/bjs ie clubs will carry and should b showing up b4 thanksgiving .guy thought the price was $399.00
dont want to wait but the second year for no cost except tax might b a go for me.. also easy return in a doa....

Woo hoooo!!! Installed Sims 3 and it worked great! Even the graphics were defaulted at Medium. I turned it down since I'm adding mods that would slow it down more. I also installed Age of Empires II and III and they work great. I should try Street Fighter IV ;)

No, you won't get such low power usage with the SU4100: the SU4100 lacks some advanced power saving features and is a Dual Core.

Anyone running any chapters of "Tales of Monkey Island" on their machine? I have Chapter 1 set at the lowest setting (Setting "1" on a scale of "1 to 9" with "1" being the lowest) and it's still not as smooth as I like it. Maybe I'm demanding a bit too much from the Intel IGP and DX9...

    Cheers,

So... no matter what I do with it, if I want the best autonomy, I should go for the single core 1810T? (I'm sorry for asking for the obvious, I just don't want to forget some possibilities before I buy the thing...)

The single core on the other hand might not come with the higher capacity (63 Wh) battery that the SU7300 (and SU4100?) dual-cores come stock in the U.S., so you might have to buy that separately. Just something to factor into your considerations for best mobility.

The SU7300 (1810T) has better low power saving modes than the SU4100 (1810TZ). Keep in mind that both the 1810T & 1810TZ both have the higher capacity batteries than the 1410 (single or dual core).

yeah, I see the low voltage possibility is listed in the very first post of this thread. Here in Belgium, the su7300 version is not being sold (yet) unfortunately... 1410 isn't being sold here as far as I know.

(In the US they are very cheap btw, compared to the price the T and TZ version are being sold here... I can order a 1810T with SU7300, 320GB, 4GB , BT, qwerty from the US and pay extra shipment to Belgium for a cost which is slightly more than the cost for the basic 1810T SU3500 160GB, 2GB, no BT, azerty, but with 2years of warranty here.)

No, it doesn't come with a Windows 7 Home Premium x64 DVD, nor does it have an image to create one. So to get around that, I downloaded the Windows 7 Ultimate OEM x64 RTM DVD image floating around the internet and then used a utility that removes the ei.cfg file. With that file gone the resulting OEM disk will let you choose which version you want to install when using it.

It's probably not worth the effort. You can get pretty good results by just uninstalling the crap Acer puts on the system.

I have the 1810TZ (SU4100). I can't seem to get SpeedStep (EIST) working.

According to this Intel link the SU4100 is supposed to have the EIST feature. But my CPU is always clocking at 1.3ghz. What gives?

How do I find out what Chipset Driver is currently installed on my 1410 (Win 7 HP-64?) I've been through Device Manager, checking other drivers (e.g., video) to see if there's a newer driver out there for installation but I don't see anything in device manager that looks like "chipset." How can I find out which version is installed? Thanks.

Hi - I was getting the number from CrystalCPUID 415. I was also trying to tweak the voltage and multiplier without any luck.

Now I just tried running CPU-Z 1.52 and it was reporting 1.2GHz idle and 1.3GHz under load (running orthos).

So are 1.2GHz (6x) and 1.3GHz (6.5x) the only states supported?

    Thnx.

Others have found out that su4100 doesn't support SuperLFM mode. Doesn't matter anyway, running at 1.3GHz all the time is the best(check Timeline Tweaks). Use RMC for undervolting.

I bought this, formatted and installed windows xp. Flashed bios as well.
Everything work fine it seems, except fan is always on (speed varies, but it never stops).
One problem I have, i still have an exclamation mark on "AUDIO DEVICE ON HIGH DEFINITION AUDIO BUS".
I installed Realtek driver (I didnt actually installed, just decompressed and pointed windows to the folder), and I have sound, it seems to work fine (before I installed the realtek driver, i got 2 exclamation marks, like I have 2 sounchips).
    Any help welcome.

    Cheers

2 exclamation marks? Probably one entry for the Realtek audio and then another for the audio-over-HDMI output from the Intel GMA driver.
Not positive but that would be my guess as that's how it's handled on my desktop's Radeon video card w/ HDMI out.

Update: I've gotten a few questions from people if any of the major B&M retail chains offer these Acers. For those of us in the central & southern parts of the US, H.H. Gregg (big appliance/TV/mattress chain) is advertising the SU2300 1410 this week for $399.99. Same specs as usual (160gb HDD, 2GB DDR2, Win 7). H.H. Gregg is not known primarily as a PC retailer but they always have a prettty solid little corner of netbooks and notebooks every time I've been in there. So this might be your best chance to see one in person if you are not in a large city with somewhere like a Fry's or J&R to see a unit firsthand. Also, the BJ's Warehouse near me still had a older 1410 w/ Core 2 Solo SU3500 on display & for sale at $399.99 the last time I was there.

New toy came in today... ASUS G51Vx-X3A from Newegg...

Just to give you an idea of the size difference between a 15.6" chassis and 11.6" chassis ;)

    ASUS G51Vx-X3A (P8700) vs. Acer 1810T (SU7300)...

Here's the one I ordered. It should be arriving soon if you want to wait and I'll let you know how well it fits. This looks much better than anything else I've found for cheap. Just hope it fits :)

BTW, it has two areas, one for the notebook and one for your power cord, etc.

First the Acer Aspire 751h came out, but I decided not to get it because I figured they would eventually have a more powerful version.
And I was right, the 1410 came out. But I decided to wait until the infamous dual core timeline version came to the US (the 1810TZ).
Then I realized the 1810T in the US will actually be the most powerful version so I waited for it.
Shortly before that was released I realized they were making a touch screen version of it so I started waiting for it.
And now I found this out:
    http://www.liliputing.com/2009/11/a...ight-and-low-power-laptops-in-early-2010.html
Guess I'm waiting till 2010 now.

Well yeah bmb, if you don`t need it asap, best thing is to wait!

I was almost ready to buy the 751h , but thank god i made a small research and realised it was dreadful!

Now my 1810T just arrived from J&R, it should be on its way to Greece tomorrow!

    Happy days!

This is actually what I was planning to do with my 1810t. If you do this, can you just use the product key from the bottom of the laptop? And is it legal? It seems legal to me as you are licensed for a copy of Windows 7... I dunno.

Yes it's legal. I haven't put in the key and activated yet (you have 30 days to do so) so I can't tell you with absolute certainty that it will work.

Alternatively there's another guide here for a slightly different way to do it.

So to sum this up, all I need to do is find a x64 Home Premium edition (there are some from torrent sites), download it , format my PC (removing the recovery partition also) and just use my license-key from the bottom?

    And i would be legal?

Well, I think you need to download the OEM Win 7 Home Premium x64 edition (good luck with that), not the Retail or your key won't work. The resulting install will be legal.

Can you elaborate on this? What is meant by saying the 1810T has a better low power savings mode than the 1810TZ... How much more of an advantage is this? This might be a factor in my decision to go with the 1810T over the 1810TZ
