Am I btw the only one thinking the 1810t(z) have a really bad tft?
1. You have to use brightness between 80%-100% or you cant really read without getting headaches, I was shocked about the default brightness in battery mode, I mean, lol, the tft is totally useless and unreadable under 50% brightness
2. You cant really get a satisfying picture never mind what position you angle the tft, let me say default view angle the picture is much too dark in the upper 20% and much too bright in the lower part
3. The most annoying thing for me is that matrix you clearly see while starring on the tft. Dont know if that's standard or an issue with the 11,6" format, I have only my 5 years old 15" Acer laptop as reference, I have seen similar matrix lines on tfts too but not so distinct like on the 1810t(z). With matrix I mean you see those tiny VERTICAL lines, I don't mean the normal led matrix when you look very very closely at the tft

Finally got around to putting in the Kingston-branded X-25M 80GB G2 into my Acer AS1810T... Here's what it looks like but it is showing up as SATA/300 (SATA-II)...
NOTE: Windows 7 was Ghosted/Cloned from the old WD 320GB Blue Scorpio to the new SSD. 21.4GB (19.9GiB) of the 80.0GB is already in use. Hibernate, System Restore + Images and Pagefile.sys have been turned off in Windows 7.
Cheers,
Kermee -
Kermee, looks great! A couple of questions, Kingston's SSD is rated at about 2 W at newegg and elsewhere, while I think the Intel G2 is rated at much lower operational power... Any comments on that?
Also, if you could remind me, is having the option of a mini-PCI SSD in the 1810t impossible because only the USB lines are hot?... Did you do any further research on that? -
Cheers,
Kermee -
@Kermee
That's really awesome, thanks for sharing
What a great performance. That mod is on my list for next year! -
Has anyone bought the AS1810T-8638 from J and R? They have some now but the pictures show what I think is the non-US keyboard. This is the one with the small left Shift key and the large boot shaped enter key on the right.
Thanks. This forum has made buying this computer even more appealing.

Just bought a 1410 w/ su2700 and I was wondering if there is supposed to be an OSD that pops up when you use the FN keys?
-
Yes, there's an OSD except when changing brightness.
-
BTW... 11.6" IdeaPad U150 models are now listed on the Lenovo website.
Lenovo IdeaPad U150 - 690968U with SU4100 is $699
Lenovo IdeaPad U150 - 690969U with SU7300 is $849
"Ships in more than 4 weeks"
No reason to wait around for these babies! -
hi guys.. sorry if this has been answered before
what is the difference in practical terms between the 1810tz with the su4100 and the single core version? Would I notice a difference if I just use it for office, internet streams, movies, iTunes? -
su3500(single core) is a bit slower, so you wont be able to watch all HD videos from youtube. HQ videos work great though. Office, internet, HD movies, itunes,..., - perfect on my su3500 machine
-
1810TZ/4100 = $549
1810T/7300 = $599
Yet more indirect promo ad for Acer-- -
Hi
I got my 1810tz from SimplyAcer in the UK. Has anyone else noticed a slight wobble on their laptop? Put it on a flat table and press down on the corner of the right hand palm rest and see if it wobbles.
Thanks! -
-
Anyone else? Is this a manufacturing defect in your opinion or common to most latops ?
-
Sigh. I've tried my best to give ethos76 the chance to respond, but help is priority here. Open the lid, grab the device at the left and right edges while spreading the fingers widest possible so that you can bend the whole device at the corners in the opposite direction carefully. Usually the right front side is where the warp is.
-
Any possibility this ~Aspire ~3810T backlit keyboard will
fit and function in an AS1810? -
I'll let you know when it gets here. It is already in transit according to UPS tracking... -
Acer Taiwan only offers Intel 743 and SU2300 models. Which is pretty weird,
because Acer is a Taiwanese-based company.
BTW, I updated some numbers on this list today for a different forum.
Intel ULV processors listed by PassMark Performance (hint: search for u2700, not su2700)
SU9400 Passmark score = 923
SU7300 Passmark score = 890
SU4100 Passmark score = 840
SU2300 Passmark score = 750
SU3500 Passmark score = 490
SU2700 Passmark score = 403
Athlon L110 Passmark score = 299
Atom N270 Passmark score = 229Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -
This is strange... my AS1410 always reported a maximum battery life of 6:22h but now with a full charge it only reports 5:51h
-
Thanks, will give it a go.
-
So yes, it should ship with a US keyboard. -

IMO the Atom was never going to be good for a full fledged OS ..... remember the Linux distros that used to run on the tiny screens in the early netbooks?? (no pun against Linux) There's no point comparing the present Atom lineup with any mobile processor out there ....... just for takes - the atom has about 40 million transistors, the su2300 has 400 million!!
-
The thing to remember is that Intel always meant the Atom to go in MIDs and handhelds and not anything resembling a general-purpose computer/laptop... its that the OEMS saw a market opportunity and created the atom netbooks to the point that Intel had to scramble to supply the silicon for it. In hindsight, the Atom revolution probably prompted the CULV chips in Intel's strategy (Don't get me wrong, Atom works fine for general browsing/emailing, but just that I personally never could only live with only that for a "laptop" I'd buy)
-
u4100 = 937
u7300 = 1042
Anyone else see this?Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -
Dear John, I think it's the third or fourth time I post something like this:
Win7 and Vista yield different scores. That list is polluted by Win7 scores now and useless. The programmers of PassMark should get their act together and fix it imo. -
-
Yes, PassMark is just an improperly coded benchmark application. It's ok to get a comparison of equally configured systems, but the introduction of Win7 just messed it all up.
-
Ok, I don't mean to sound dense, but with the introduction of Win7 means that the CPU benchmark is higher versus Vista?
-
Yes, Win7 scores are higher than Vista scores. The (Vista based)list k9hydr4 and yus9 posted should be pretty accurate to compare the different processors.

I`m finally another proud owner of a 1810T!
Writing from it right now, i`m stuned with the loads of crapware Acer has installed!
Im creating the Recovery Discs right now, and i will make a clean install of the 7 after that!
Talk to you all later!
So far so good! -
Congratulations
-
Tell me something guys
If i do a format remove the D partition and a clean restart after, do i actually need the recovery disks?
Is it worth the trouble? -
I'd burn them just in case. Be sure to check prikolchik's installation guide first. It's on the first page right now and I've added a link to Timeline Tweaks just in case it falls off the first page.
-
Seems like i`m missing some GB from my HDD. Is this normal?
I see 298GB available, i thought the HDD`s were 320GB
What am i doing wrong?
I also dont know what the D2D option in BIOS is!
Help! -
I suppose the missing space is the hidden recovery partition. D2D is disk to disk recovery that allows to recover with a certain key combo. Personally I wouldn't touch those things, yet. You can still remove it after installing Windows.
-
Well i want to create a small partition around 30GB for Win 7 and programs and the rest just for storage.
I used diskpart to find the hidden partition ,disabled the D2d but still nothing.
I can`t find those missing GB`s!
Any help ? -
there are 1024 MB in a GB, no 1000.
So, there is no missing space, but computers are calculating it differently than manufacturers. Bigger the disk - bigger the difference. -
Here is a screenshot what to type
Attached Files:
-
-
Indeed 1024 was also in my mind but i did the calculation just once
I didnt go from bytes to GB
So 298 it is, cheers! -
Okay... My Acer 1810T is a *completely* different machine with the Intel X-25M 80GB SSD in there now... Holy smokes! I think the only mod left I want to do is to enable overclocking the SU7300 to 1.73 GHz... If I can find someone in the U.S. confident enough to do the hardware modification for me!
With the SSD in, BT & WiFi off, and brightness at its lowest settings, BatteryBar shows a discharge rate of 5.5W's... That's absolutely amazing!
Cheers,
Kermee -
so...unfortunately, before i did a bit of research on netbooks...i found the hp mini 311 with ion graphics and figured that it was one of the nicer netbooks..
i went ahead and ordered a custom configured one and it arrived early this morning.
this machine is a JOKE! so unbelievably slow...crappy build, overpriced, and WAAAYY underpowered. and on top of it all, the programs that are supposed to take advantage of the ion and CUDA werent even bundled with it, like they were supposed to be..
i downloaded them myself just to find out that several of them arent even recognizing the ion graphics...lame.
fortunately, i ordered the 1810t su7300 2 days ago from JR.com and it should be here within a few days....i also called and got an RMA for this pos mini 311.
if anyone is wondering if there is a speed difference...this machine I am on now has a n280 atom processor, and it sucks at just about every single thing I have tried on it. flash is basically unplayable...netflix is borderline....and the rest of my apps are soo damn slow that its unbearable.
one good thing about this mini 311 is that after using it for a couple days, ill be blown away by the speed and power of the 1810t when it comes!
i honestly cant believe how crappy this HP is...touchpad is the most horrendous thing ive ever used! ok...rant over -
Advice for a travel power supply?
I'm interested in getting a power supply to keep in my travel bag. Some of these units seems awfully cheap, such as this one (I think I read earlier in this thread that power bricks for the Aspire One are compatible with the 1410-- is that correct?):
http://www.eforcity.com/paceaspitc01.html
Is there any reason to be concerned about a unit such as this? Apart from the cost, one of its nice attributes is that it plugs directly into the wall so there is no need to travel with an A/C cord. Also, the alternative plug types are a nice plus for international travel. Any comments about this item? -
They are compatible. I own both an Aspire One A110l and an 1810t.

Anyway, Great job man.
